I call it my "Vapiphany" you know, the moment I realized that vaping could work as a genuine answer to getting off the old fashioned combustibles.

I was sitting at the kitchen table one night in Jan of 2012. At a crossroad... I had used some kr808 disposables once or twice before and had gotten a taste of what they were like, but was still smoking and had to make a choice. I had a Dr's appt the next morning and didn't want to go in smelling like smoke, I did not want to disappoint my heart Dr who has been so good to me over the last ten years of my heart disease.

So I forced myself to skip buying a pack of cigs the night before and was committed to using them at least until after my visit. After my check up and testing was over with, I drove home and didn't stop at the store. Late in the afternoon when cooking dinner for my family I realized that I hadn't smoked a cig since the night before and was satisfied with my new alternative....I was from that point on, convinced that vaping was a better choice for myself and those around me. Thus, my "Vapiphany" moment.
I've slipped up a couple times since then, mainly under extreme stressful circumstances, but I have been completely free of smoke since Oct of '12 and don't plan on ever lighting another one.

What or when was yours and what were you doing?

I didn't have a moment, it was more a feeling of determination. When I first saw an e-cigarette I realized it could be the answer. I had already quit smoking for a year, only using cigars and nicotine lonzenges. But, after a year I started smoking again. Fast forward 6 months and I was shown an ecigarette. It was cheap and didn't work well so upgraded to a 510 kit. It didn't work very well either so upgraded again to an ego-t. It too didn't work very well. So, another 6 months of smoking. Still feeling determined, I talked myself into getting a Provari because I wanted something that worked. Along with that I got some cartomizers that used a tank (DCT) and have not looked back. Been smoke free over a year now. Did have one relapse due to stress at work. Smoked 7 cigs and gave the rest away. The cigarettes tasted really bad and didn't produce the clouds i'm now use to.

Mine was by accident. I never had plans to completely quit. I was going to smoke at work and just vape at home and in the car to stop my family griping about the smell. But after a couple of weeks I found myself vaping at work too. Finally I just quit buying cigs and never had one again.

I did feel horrible the first month. They do say you basically fall apart while you detox all that crud outta your system. But even though I have been on 18 mg nic from the start I find that I can go all day without vaping if I have too and that never happened with the cigs. That tells me that there was more addictive substances beside nicotine in cigs.

I feel better and I smell better and look better. And I know if something does happen and I can't vape no more I probably won't have a problem with it. Now I do it cause I enjoy it and its like 1/3 of what I was paying for cigs.

I bought some Blu disposables to try out at work. They held me over until the end of the day, but I'd chain smoke 2 cigs once I got into the car. Looked online thinking there had to be a forum, and sure enough I came here.

Bought a Halo Triton starter kit and some 7ml bottles of juice. I could now empathize with the crack-head I used to make fun of; the first time I hit the Triton, I fell in love. My gear was delivered on a Thursday after work, and I had my last 3 cigarettes* on Friday.

* I actually had to smoke cigs for 1 day about 2 weeks afterward because I ran out of juice. Rookie mistake. Easily my worst day of smoking; they tasted like inhaling camp fire and licking an ashtray. And the throat hit and 'vapor' sucked too.

I bought a mall kit and knew after the first drag that it could work.. but it didn't take long to figure out it the mall kit wouldn't do it for me. It took me 3 months of smoking and vaping, trying different juices and hardware to find what works for me. I cut down on the cigarettes immediately and tapered off over 3 months. I was able to stop completely using a standard 510 batt, direct dripping into the atty. I knew I had find something that would support me because once I quit smoking, I didn't want to go back because of faulty batts or running out of juice. so I made sure I had backups and plenty of juice that I liked.

I still had a few packs of analogs left over after I bought my first vaping gear. Went a couple of days without smoking, then tried a cigarette and it just didn't taste very good, so I only smoked about a half. One week later, I snuck another analog out in the garage, and it tasted even worse to me. I kept the packs around for another week or so and finally one day I pitched them in the trash.

My "moment", I suppose, was a combination of throwing them away and ditching my nasty, gooey, stinky little .... can out in the garage along with the one in my truck.

After my little brother had to have a quadruple bypass at the age of 32... That, and the fact that I couldn't take a deep breath without weezing, waking up in the middle of the night not being able to breathe, and shortness of breath and constant coughing. I bought a mall e-cig kit for almost $200 over 2 years ago. Yeah, I might have gotten ripped off monetary wise, but it saved my life so sometimes I think it may be the best $200 I've ever spent. I went on the internet and found ECF and so many other vaping options. I haven't looked back since.

I got my Halo Triton in the mail on Wednesday afternoon. I woke up at about 4pm and went outside to smoke an analog before I opened the package. Smoked about half and then realized I was more excited to open my package from Halo and try my vape. I kept a nearly full pack of smokes close by until Friday night the wife, myself and some friends went camping at the lake. I almost passed on drinking some beers for fear it would be a trigger to light up.

I decided that I wouldn't feel guilty even if I did smoke and that I would feel like I was depriving myself if I skipped out on a frosty beverage campfire side.

After a few beverages I was ready for a nicotine fix. I proceeded to take a toot off of my Triton which satisfied my craving completely.

The thought of an analog just sounded gross.

I threw my pack of analogs too my friend who was running out of his and told him they were all his.

As soon as my Itaste MVP comes in the mail Tuesday he is taking my spare Triton.

After a couple of toots he said he's hooked too.

My vapiphany took about .0075 nanoseconds: I was sitting out on the porch, having just unpacked the starter kit I'd ordered on impulse and purely out of curiosity. Took the first drag and instantly realized several things at once: it tasted great; it was very throat-gentle; looked and felt just like "smoking," and I didn't miss the tobacco part of the flavor at all! I did finish the few analogs left in an opened pack over the next few days, but never had the desire to smoke after that first drag! I was stunned (still am!) at how suddenly and unexpectedly it happened!

I managed to make the switch with help from a friend who lent me an ego, some ce5's, and some juice after I had mentioned that I wanted to try vaping. Over the next three days I had three combustibles but was very pleased that I had only had three. That was 4 months ago and have not had a cigarette since. The vapiphany for me though was the day (about two weeks in on the vape) that one of my friends walk up and I realized how horrible she smelled. All I could think was "man I used to smell like that" and that was when I knew I was smoke free.
