I like alternative of all genres, once again, as long as the vocalist is not screaming or shouting, I'll listen to pretty much any style. Probably because I am a lifetime musician and grew up learning to appreciate all forms of music.

I really enjoy prog-rock and music of other cultures even if I don't know what they are singing. I enjoy the rhythms, the musical patterns that are different from western music.

I love alternative music. There is a cable station that plays alternative music from the 80s, 90s, and now. It's my favorite music station.

So what is prog-rock?

Still like that old time rock and roll
That kinda music just soothes the soul
I reminisce about the days of old
With that old time rock and roll

So, what is old time rock and roll for you? I love the Rolling Stones! Have you seen them in the last ten years at a concert? I have, and was very impressed at well they performed.

Prog-rock is Progressive Rock - bands such as Camel, Renaissance, Emerson,Lake&Palmer, Gentle Giant, King Crimsom and many many more. Take a look at Progressive Rock Archives and have a listen to some on that site.

Prog-Rock bands generally write music that is more complex than typical rock bands. They often are longer pieces, often whole albums follow a theme, like Days of the Future Passed by the Moody Blues. There are many sub-genres of Prog-Rock.

If you get tired of the same old top 40 stuff give a listen to some Prog-Rock bands.

I get very sick of top 40 stuff; that's when I switch to alternative music on cable. I just looked at the site. Thanks for the link! I love listening to Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, and Moody Blue. Days of the Futre Passed was awesome.
