I just tried Devil Dog and Blue Grass Burley. Do they need to steep? Devil Dog has real tobacco (pipe tobacco) flavor, which is great, but I wish it would have been stronger. Blue Grass Burley, noticeable sweetness on the inhale and an interesting mild flavor on the exhale with a hint of fresh grass, but very mild to nonexistent tobacco flavor. Both juices are pretty dark. Plenty of vapor. Throat hit is okay, but not as strong as Halo's tobaccos. Do they get stronger/more flavorful with time or is this it? Thanks.

Well you're the first person I have heard say they would like DD to be stronger... Don't mess with Dan! I found that Devil Dog! mellowed just a bit after steeping.

Well, you may have to accept tobacco eliquid won't have the tobacco impact you're looking for, yet anyways. Devil Dog is among the strongest tobacco you'll find in the current market.

Throat hit is almost purely a matter of pg/vg ratio and nic level with a juice. The device you use can also change things. If the TH isn't enough order higher nic next time, or use a device that gives stronger TH.

Mellowed? Agrrr.

Well, maybe I was expecting too much. Their description talks about Marines and stuff. I was expecting a full blown flavor with throat tearing hit. What I got was okay, but in my opinion, Halo's Captain Jack has more throat hit. In addition, Captain Jack and Longhorn have very memorable and distinctive flavors. Unfortunately, they do not taste like tobacco, which is a huge minus, but Halo's so-called "tobaccos" are bold, in-your-face, distinctive and memorable, which is what I am looking for, plus tobacco.

Speaking of flavors, is it possible to ask them to do a flavor boost? I have not seen it as an option on the site. Blue Grass Burley definitely needs more flavor, in my opinion. It has an interesting flavor profile, but tobacco is missing in action and the main flavor, whatever it is - fresh grass, I guess - needs to double or triple.

What can I say? I like bold, in-your-face, memorable and distinctive flavors.

I have tried around 80 samples by now. I cannot remember most juices and would not identify them in a blind test. In a blind test, my guess is that I would not be able to tell the difference between, say, Devil Dog, Apache, Louisville, Paris, and London. Maybe, just maybe, I would call London, but we are talking about 5 different juices that are almost identical. This is just one example. Other juices are not any better. Patriot, Fire Cured Tobacco, Virginia, Baco, Legend, Smooth Criminal, White Beard, etc are all basically the same, i.e., very mild, indistinctive and no tobacco flavor. In a blind test, I would not be able to call them individually.

I have more samples that I have not tried yet, but maybe somebody can help me out a bit and point me in the direction of what I am looking for, which is something like London, but with a stronger tobacco flavor and an interesting, not one dimensional, flavor profile.

Thanks.

What is your take on Halo's tobaccos? :)

I like Tribeca. Prime 15 is decent at best, but didn't taste like tobacco at all. Turkish is the worst juice I have had so far. It tasted like marshmallow and chemicals. I thought you and I discussed this in another thread... Maybe not?

Dan, what juice delivery system are you using? You listed some very distinctive juices as nearly identical and lacking in flavor. The flavors in the juices you mentioned are considered by most to be quite distinctive and rather bold. Perhaps you are not getting the flavor through your device(s) or maybe having a bad taste bud day/week?

Dan, I think I understand what you're going through. I dunno, maybe mix Devil Dog and Captain Jack? (Perish the thought, though it may work for you?) Aside from Captain Jack touting itself as having a "reckless throat hit," I got virtually none more than a normal 24 mg juice. If DD isn't "bold, in-your-face, distinctive and memorable," you should rejoice in having Halo. I love Halo, but they exist on the opposite end of the vaping spectrum as DD or BGB.

Remember: Vaping is not smoking.

As far as the liquids being dark? I have synthetic juices way darker than DD and BGB. Maybe you were associating dark liquids with a ton of flavor? I am baffled right now, but I guess we can never assume anything. DD and BGB are gorgeuos medium colored, perfectly transparent liquids (no unsightly sediment).

This is what DD looks like(I wish I could've gotten a better image and not in shadow)

111.jpg. (Damn it! I wasted a drop! Sheesh. The things I do.)

If that's dark, you got to see Aroma's Dark Honey Tobacco or QuickNics ouR whY qu4tro. Hell, Vapor Station's Dover is 4x as dark as DD and it's a synthetic.

As far as the "Marines and stuff," Wlad is a Marine, so it's from a Marine (and initially) for his Marine friends. This juice was made for him and his comrades before it was ever sold.

Were you expecting too much? I don't know about that, but I think your expectations may be skewed. Have you tried tobacco absolute? Maybe RYO from Mom and Pop vapor shop will suit you, or even Straight-up from Moondrop. If those don't taste, ahem, memorable, then stick to Halo.

What are you vaping these juices out of? What ratio did you get? Halo is high on the PG, so maybe that's what did it for you. Though, you'll have to guess at their ratio since it's proprietary.

EDIT----Dan, try QnJ's Fire Cured. If that doesn't do it for you, I am out of suggestions. I was serious about Mom and Pop and Moondrop.

You've tried the strongest NETs available now, so if you require stronger tobacco no where to really go from what I see with NETs. Maybe arti-baccos or tobacco absolute juices are more your thing, nothing wrong with that. I'm wondering if your taste receptors are shot since all those different juices seem the same to you.

If DD! isn't bold enough for him there's no way in Hell that RYO or anything from M&P would satisfy, imo, although you might like their Tobacco Haze. RYO is rather bland to a lot of people as well as myself, and I really enjoy the lighter NETs.

This is quite the conundrum! A+ doesn't offer extra flavor 'shots' like MBV does. How long have you been off of cigarettes or any combustible tobacco? I'm wondering if your taste buds just haven't fully recovered.

Something just clicked to me when I posted the "Remember: Vaping is not smoking" comment. I see you keep saying "tobacco" and I have a couple questions for you.

1) Which tobacco are you looking for, e.g., Perique, Burley, Virgina, Latakia, flue, fire or air cured, etc?

2) If looking for a "tobacco" flavor, what previous experience do you want it to taste like? Vaping provides a new way to experience tobacco, but it is not related all that much to chewing or smoking. Luckily my love for tobacco in a broader sense came from vaping, so I am not chasing cigars or pipe dreams. If you can't tell the difference in a blind taste-test between "Patriot, Fire Cured Tobacco, Virginia, Baco, Legend, Smooth Criminal, White Beard, etc" (OMG, are you serious!?!?!?!), I would really be looking into hardware over juice hunting.

I applaud your tenacity, but like Jerms said, you have pretty much exhausted the lot.

That gives me an idea for a possible future NETty awards. Tobacco types and styles as categories. Favorite Perique, Virginia, Burley, Latakia, Turkish, Cavendish cut, Fire/Flue cured, English pipe blend, and so on.

That would cost a lot of loot for trophies.
