Anyone find a sweet spot for drilling out the air holes? I just picked up a patriot today and I'm enjoying it but I know the potential for clouds is so close.

Do you lung hit or mouth hit?

if you're not sure what im talking about when it comes to lung hit/mouth hit...

Mouth Hit - inhaling like a cigarette, into your mouth, then inhaling it into your lungs...

Lung Hit - Like smoking a joint/.... - inhaling it directly into your lungs, a much deeper, longer inhale.

*If you're mouth hitting like most vapers, I wouldnt recommend going over 1/16 size. If you go too big you wont have enough suction to inhale.

However, if you can lung hit (which i recommend) you should go 3/32 size at least. 3/32 i think is the perfect beginning lung hit size. It's big enough to get massive clouds, and also enough airholes to where your device won't get super hot.

On my Nimbus I actually have 3mm size holes drilled out, which are gigantic, most shops wont drill that big. I had to do it manually with my buddy's dremmel.

The upside of mouth hitting is flavor. You do get more flavor inhaling into the mouth, and then sucking it down into your lungs, like a cigarette.

The upside (i think) of lung inhaling is you can easily get 3 times the vapor, and for me, I get my nic fix faster by lung hitting, more vapor = more nic = less hits needed to curb your appetite for a ciggy.

My advice - Find a vape shop near you that offers drilling holes out (they usually charge $5.00) and go in have them start small, and keep expanding. You'll eventually find a sweet spot. Remember, a big airhole is only useful if you're running high resistance like .3Ω - .9Ω

If you're running resistances of 1.2Ω - 2.0Ω dont worry about airflow, you're resistance is fine with stock airholes.

Hope this helps!! Just my exerience

I'm not trying to be a smartazz, but who established that??? lol ;)

BTW, here are 2 more Video's of the Vapor production of the Patriot (same guy uploaded a couple new vids). This Vap is looking pretty dense to me! :)

Vapor cloud 4 - YouTube

Vapor cloud 2 - YouTube

I don't buy it either, I think it's just something that's been parroted around the forums. I've tried it out to see if I can tell a difference and my tiny little Igo-s doesn't have more flavor than the exact same build in my trident or Igo-l. (there isn't much out there that's smaller than an Igo-s)

went ahead and drill out my hole to 3/32 wish I would of stayed a 5/64 lost a lot of flavor

If you DIY just mix your juice with a higher percentage of flavor. If not then alot of vendors will do it for you I have specific juices I use for dripping, tanks, etc.

I just bought one over the phone today!

Cant wait!

I also own a nimbus, but I want another 3 post atty thats a 22mm, and looks sexy. To me the patriot and Nimbus are probably equal. They look to have the same specs. Price, they're pretty close too.

just ordered the Patriot drilled to 5/64" . rockin' a omega on a vanilla copper mod now that is the S>>T!!!! also have the Trident on ans EA.. can't wait to compare the 3 vapor wise that is.... looking at the next acquisition :)

Curious to see what you think of the Patriot now that you've got it to compare with the Trident and Omega... I've got a Patriot and wish I'd gone with an Atomic or a Trident. I don't like the posts being so close to the walls on the Patriot, and I wish it had adjustable airflow, but it's definitely a beauty!

By the way, I've also got an EA and love it! May get the EA model "B" or a DNA30 mod, if I can find one, that is...:vapor:

I have the patriot, never held or tried a nimbus. The patriot has sturdy build quality, smooth threads and yes, matches nicely with the 22mm mod it sits on. I like the amount of room in the deck, and the holes in the posts, rather than wrapping around a screw. Only thing is I am debating drilling out the holes, the draw is a little tight.

I agree 100% the draw is much to tight I would suggest drilling the air holes out other then that this is a very nice RDA built here at home.

I got a Patriot V2 and a stainless Smok-e Mountain Vanilla a few weeks ago at Vapor Dreamz in Mobile, Alabama. I haven't had it long enough to do a full review. I like to give things some time to break in before I go off and recommend them. In this case though, I'll say I'm happy so far.

So far, I'm very pleased with it. Unlike many RDA's the top of the dome comes off, so you can poke around and juice a litte better without taking the whole atty cover off. It comes with 2 "bands" so you can set the size of the air holes from 1/4,1/2, or full open. It's the dark band at the top of the atty. I went with the vanilla because the whole rig looks seemless when it's all together. +1 for coolness.

Okay, if I had to say anything negative about my rig, it's not about the V2, However, the Vanilla button is driving me nuts. It sticks quite often and then your unscrewing it in a panic. I'm going to try some wire cloth to buff out the button parts and and maybe some lubricant this weekend. Again, not really ready to do a full eval, but I'm loving the vape!

would it be possible to add a third airhole on opposite side of the logo for a single coil option? like the omega

You should buy something like a halo top cap. It's made for the patriot and has adjustable airflow so you could close it down to as tight or as wide open as you like. They go for about thirty dollars. It's a two piece design ie top cap and AFC ring. Fits the patriot perfectly, I own one. It gave my patriot a whole new lease on life and made it an exponentially better rda. I hope that helps, good luck my vaping brother, may the vapor be with you lol. =]

If you just build your coils to a slightly lower resistance you will regain most if not all of your lost flavor. For instance, if you usually build two 1 ohm coils resulting in a net build resistance of .5 ohms then try building two .8 ohm coils, which will result in a net resistance of .4 ohms. If that's still not satisfying the flavor discrepancy, try dropping the resistance another notch down relative to what you previously built your coils to. Just make sure you're using high amp batteries like the vtc5 or vtc4 or mnke etc etc always make sure your batteries can handle the amperage your build is producing.hope that helps bro, Good luck
