Well my Reo Grand came in today! So glad I went with the Grand instead of the mini. It just looks so big online, but I'm quite pleased with the size, similar to my istick 50 with ST mini.. actually shorter.

Unfortunately my batteries haven't shown up yet, neither has my wire

Hopefully by Friday. My wife will be out of town for the weekend, so I can go crazy :vapor::banana::vapor::headbang::vapor::banana::vapor:

Right now just combing forums for info..
RM airhole seems small, but so far threads I'm reading have me optimistic. Also hoping to find out how to put on button cap(don't want to do something I shouldn't while trying to get it on)

What a beautiful REO!

What's your wife's number again?

Which cover did you get Alawot? And does it fit on the fire button? Tight or loose?

Aluminum button cover from the Reos site. I don't have it on yet, afraid to use too much pressure.

The aluminum covers usually fit quite snug. Nothing to be afraid of, put the button in the "Lock" position, line it up and push straight down with your finger or thumb until it stops. If it happens to be loose, it should of come with some very small wire and if not, dental floss will do. Place it across the top of the button and do the same as above and then trim the excess. Only about an inch of the wire or floss will do the trick...;)

Congratulations and welcome to Reoville my friend! A fine looking unit for sure. Next stop...Flavor Town! :thumb:

Rob probably sent a ziploc package that has a funny looking piece of thread. This is used to secure the button cover. Just lay it over the top of the small button and put the button cover on...then snip the extra thread from underneath the button cover....helps to lock the button in the 'no fire' position. This is done by turning the button clockwise...counter clockwise to unlock.

The air hole is too small for some folks. I love my rm2 and have never wanted to enlarge it. Flavor is great. Just remember to get the coil on the level of the air hole and try different distances from the posts. This adjusts your throat hit (so I have been told..I just seem to do it the same way every time).

ETA: Should have kept reading. DT gave a great response. Now you have two! GMTA

No string in the bag, but the cover is on pretty snug now. Just needed a little pressure to get it on. Thanks for the replies guys! So even though it's new, do I put that noalox stuff on now? (well when my batteries finally arrive that is)

Some use noalox some prefer deoxit gold. I don't mind noalox just remember a little goes a long way otherwise it will get messy.

So, it looks like you've been answered on the thread/dental floss for the button cover issue...

If the draw is too tight on the Rm2, and eventually it will be...because the atty is made of brass, they are REALLY easy to drill out to a larger size by hand. No power tools required. Takes a little time, but you won't poke your hand or the other side of the atty. Start at 1/16th of an inch and work you way up until the airflow is working for you. Give it a couple of days in between drill outs though so you can be sure. Once you drill, you can't go back. My Rm2's ended up, I think at 3/32's. Pretty large for most folks...

Great looking Reo mah friend! I've got a matching one mahself ;)

The Noalox that Rob supplies works just fine but as NPL posted, it can be messy if not applied right and too much is not a good thing.. I used of Noalox long before I started vaping. Always used it with electrical connections that could be possibly exposed to moisture. ( such as wiring terminal blocks)

With that being said, I prefer the use of Deoxit when it comes to my vaping devices as it is much cleaner and easier to use. I use the Deoxit D100 for initial cleaning followed by G100 "Gold" for the final treatment. Both of these are pens which also helps to get into tight places.

For now, just go with the Noalox. A great way to apply it is with a Q Tip. Put a small dab on a piece of cardboard or paper, dip the tip in and roll it out a bit before application. A little bit is all it takes and a nice light coat goes a long way...;)

I wonder if I should start using that. I never have since I have the gold contacts and thought I wasn't supposed to use anything? Not only that, Rob didn't send his little bit of it with my mod and that only reinforced my thoughts about not using it. I have to go to Home Depot today and I will grab some if it is important.

I'm with you glow and have never used any...we got our REOs around the same time :)

Glow I wouldn't worry about it. When I had a REO I never used any. I had no arcing issues. I keep my builds at reasonable ohms. I think if you get into really low ohm builds it is probably more necessary. I will ocassionally use a tiny tiny bit of noalox on threads and it does really seem to make them smoother and may help connectivity.

There's a thread in the Reo Sub that I can't link to that concerns Deoxit...

It's in the stickies called Battery Arcing...here's a copy/paste of Rob's post (links have been edited out)

From redeydancer:
"Every mechanical mod arcs. The only difference is with a REO, you can see it.
If you're not keeping your positive contact and your batteries clean, your mod will eventually start to misfire .

I am not a electrical engineer. These are things I have learned over time. Every time your positive contact breaks connection with your battery, it arcs. This leaves black spots on your battery and on your positive contact. In mild cases you can't even see it. If you're not cleaning your contacts, the black marks build up to a point the positive contact isn't making a good connection with your battery. Picture two plates of glass stacked one on top of the other. Sprinkle sand on top of one plate of glass and try stacking the other on top of it. The plates of glass wont lie flat on each other the sand keeps them from doing this . The sand acts just like the black spots on your battery and positive contact.

A white pen eraser works great on contacts. There is enough abrasion there to remove any residue without damaging your contacts. Do this to your positive contact and the top of your batteries followed by a Q-tip with alcohol . Apply Noalox or Deoxit to your positive contact. I never run my mod without using Noalox or Deoxit and I never have problems. Because I never run my mod without Noalox or Deoxit I have never had to clean my contacts with anything more then a Q-tip with some alcohol.

The Noalox or Deoxit forms a barrier so the arcing isn't leaving residue on your contacts.

The lower in ohms you vape, the more maintenance you will have to do. I run a 1.0 ohm coil; once a month works perfect for me. If you're running a .5 ohm coil, you will need to do it more often.

My favorite is Deoxit Gold with the brush applicator; a little pricey but it will last a life time. You can buy it in smaller tubes as well.

Noalox: if you're on a budget. I also sell it on my site.

There are some guys here in the forum with a background in the electrical field . I have left this thread open. Feel free to add your input."
