Alas I have a lot to learn. My first test drive caused a coughing fit that required a Ricola to break. I had some issues with draining too. Will need to spend some time with this new beauty and figure out how she moves. I think a big part of the problem is the airflow (which y'all warned about). That hole is tiny and I'm a lung hitter. I'm going to take a whack at opening up the airflow to 1/16.

Hey man, you stole 'Lil Red! But you have a really nice topper on her now!

Congrats! Lookin' great mah friend!

I'm NOT suggesting you do this at all. And I don't have mah Chalice in hand until the next run, so my input is really moot. I'm a lung hitter, on my small toppers I start drilling at 1/16. My Rm's are at 3/32. I did my Cyclone to 5/64 today from 1/16 and it's ok, but it may need to go to 3/32...Once you open , you can't go back obviously. I used the Cyclone for about a month at 1/16 with various builds and finally decided that I needed more airflow. I will work my builds from 1.5 ohm down to .4 ohm for the next month or so before I decide to open it up to 3/32.

Very cool Scratch man! The BW with that dark red door really sets the Chalice off. In no criticism intended at all but merely a thought, I can't help but think that a black Delrin button cover would be the finishing touch.

When you go to punch out the intake, take great care. Take a peek at the top threads as they are very close to the intake hole. I got a small bur in mine so that the last few turns where kind of rough when setting the cap. Was able to remedy by lightly hitting the top cap threads with a worn down Scotch wheel on a Dremel and a bit of cutting oil. The only other alternative would of been to chase the threads with the proper tap. A good and sharp drill bit is a must. I am a lung hitter as well and at 1/16 the draw is still a wee bit tight but the flavors are simply amazing! Running twisted 28 built to 0.5 ohms with Cotton Bacon wick on mine. .

I;m a lung hitter and even with a 1/16 hole add little bit of slip streaming too. Slip steaming is letting some air in around the drip tip

Thanks Beast! I just spent a bit more QT with the reo and she's vaping pretty good. Widening that airflow will definitely help. I will say I'm having an experience with Radio like I've never had before with my tanks. Super warm tasty vape. Very nice indeed.

Soignee/DB - thanks guys. Black delrin button cover would indeed look sweet. May need to grab one, but will wait to see how she looks with the dready door. She will be lil' red only as long as it takes for Mark to cook me up some magic. For the airflow I'm going to follow Beast's suggestion and use a diamond drill bit on a dremel. I did see what you meant about the intake being right on the threads. Hopefully it all turns out well.

The mini is really tiny. I love it, but she really needs a big brother. ;)

By using the pointy dremel diamond bit instead of a drill bit I was able to apply pressure up while reaming it out and kept the same bottom to the hole and did not hit threads. Great care was taken to make sure I didn't slip and drag the bit across the face of the Chalice.

I picked up this bit for the dremel:

7134 Diamond Wheel Point / Model: 7134

Bit diameter is 2 mm / 5/64, so a bit bigger than 1/16. It's not scientific, but since it tapers I figure I can just go half way with it and arrive somewhere in the right neighborhood.

Do you have a pair of calipers? You can measure and mark the bit with marks a lot so you know where you should be at...

Filthy-Beast, where did you get the 1/16 pointy dremel diamond bit? Lowes? Home Depot? I'd like to pick one up. I think the 2mm that scratch has ordered would be too big for drilling my RM2.

It is tapered, so you only allow it to go in as large as you want your hole to be. Since the largest diameter of the bit is 2mm, scratch is only going to use it about halfway in to get the smaller resulting diameter that he desires.

So this procedure is not for a beginner.

Edit: :( :( :(

Dani, the RM2 does indeed have threads all the way up to the air hole. However, if you look at it, the air hole sits about 2mm above the deck of the RM2 so those threads are not used. You would be safe drilling it with a standard 1/16 drill bit. Use a brand new sharp bit and go slow with your drill.

Already done! Worked quite well. I used a 1.5 mm screw driver to check it as a went along. When the bit first broke through it wasn't at 1.5 mm yet, but a few more iterations and the screw went through with a snug'ish fit. Could be a 10th off I suppose, but it's good for me.

There is now some texture around the intake on the outside and inside. It still threads fine and it's not visible to the eye, but if you run your finger across it you'll feel it. Not too concerned - I think trying to address it on either side is more risky than it's worth.

Hey Dani, Beast's bit looked a bit more on the spot but you can definitely get it to 1.5 with the bit I used. Wasn't too hard and this was my first go around with anything like this.

Oh meant to ask you guys - is it common to have issues with the button constantly falling back into locked mode? I'm guessing with time I'll build the muscle memory to avoid rolling it accidentally, but I wondered if maybe something was loose in there causing it to move rather easily.

It does that sometimes on mine.

I take it you haven't found a magic bullet to fix it then... I'm sure I'll learn to live with it. Or figure out another use case for the dremel.

No, minor pita. It only happens when I don't want it to. I did just swap out my brass cover for a black one though, I'll let you know if that helps...
