No problem. I can't seem to leave my attys normal. All of them are modded in some way. kayfun is modded out. Orchid is done. Them 3mm holes helped out with the big airy draw I like. Vapes like a champ now.

Went and picked up a set of those dremel bits the other day, those little things work wonders. On one of my kayfun clones, the air hole was really small, and i didn't have the right type of drill bit,so figured i would try one of these to see if it would open it up,worked out great, and now that kayfun hits great.I also opened up the channels on both kayfuns, but still getting dry hits,so i'm going to open them up a little more and hopefully get them working good.

I finally got my v4 ordered, and to keep it looking like an orchid,i also ordered a frosted m-tank,i like the looks of the original orchid with the frosted tank,so just gotta keep it all orchid looking haha.

I have one of those frosted m-tanks coming, to go with my easy-fill cap. I'm with you - I wanted it to be more Orchid-looking. ;)
So you got the FT V4?

No,i got the $23 one on ebay,i have had pretty good luck here lately with fasttech orders showing up pretty quick, but figured my luck that one would take a month,so i just bit the bullet and paid the extra to know i will have it soon.I got 2 of m-tanks,the frosted for the orchid, and i picked up a clear one for the kayfun, but yeah that v4 is a little too un-orchid looking,so that had to be fixed,i just wish the m-tank had that bulge like the first orchids did haha.

Haha,i'm just the opposite. To me,the frosted and fat tank are what make the orchids "unique",at least with the frosted tank i can get it half way there haha.

V4 orchid w/frosted m tank that bulges like the original orchid... Love it

I am thinking about getting a few more Orchids. However, I have decided to boycott FT until the Hong Kong problem is resolved peaceably. I just applied for verified status yesterday. How often do they show up in the classifieds, and how reasonable is the price?

I had a wicking problem today. I had apparently not put enough in the coil (twisted 32ga, 12 wraps on my standard unmarked knitting needle, for 1.8 to 2.2 Ω). And used a separate wick for the remaining two channels. This time, I put enough in that I had plenty on the thick end to split into three channels, and dropped a little ball on top. I don't know what was my first error, but when I opened her up, there was no wick left in the coil.

On another note, my Russian 91, which has been en route from FT for a long time, got misrouted on the final leg of the journey. I called usps to make a complaint, and it appears that this misrouting, identical to one a month ago, will not happen again.

I like the frosted tank. I am happy to be able to see the juice level.

I doubt that you'll see a clone in the classies, and if I were you I'd get the V4 (more capacity), only available as a clone. Maybe try eBay?

The only time I've even seen rayon disappear like that is when it burned up after a dry burn or a short. And you don't really wanna overstuff - you'll get less performance out of your coil. With rayon though, there's good surface tension, so you should be able to stuff normally (tight but still moves back and forth with some resistance) and still split the tails in half for the four channels. Just run it longer on one half to reach, and maybe try not thinning them down. Or you could try a fatter coil with less wraps.

Hopefully those in power will see business going down, and decide to let them have their own way just for the sake of the almighty dollar. Hong Kong is just too used to good business, done their way, to allow their new overlords to have THEIR way. Times are changing.

I might be happy with just the two for a while. Switching flavors among my floral teas is a rather smooth process.

I could try a size larger-- I do have quite a few. I'll experiment with it a while and see what happens. If I remember right about that time there was a major fluctuation, but it is now steady at 1.8. Usually mine don't survive a dewick and dry burn-- probably because the coil has gotten so cruddy by the time I decide to mess with it again. My twisted 32 is working well-- no reason to switch, that I can see.

Oh, just dry burn it with the wick still in it. That'll unstick it and thin it down enough to tweeze out really easily. Then just rinse off the ash. Even twisted, I know 32g is a PITA to rewick - too dainty.

Nice. Yea them little tools work wonders. Like I mentioned before. I start the dremel and pick one of the juice channels to work on. Press it against the sides and slowly keep pressure to fan out the wells. Then the other side of the channel and down to create a deeper valley. After I do the same to the channel going up the deck.

I went to ebay, and saw a Kayfun Lite for $14, so I know that something will be there if I feel the need. It took a bit of looking, but I found a needle just slightly larger. I'll try 10 wraps and see what I get. You are right-- more chance to get a short when the coil sticks out too far.

You have to be careful with those cheaper KFLs. Some of them require a lot of tweaking. I started out with a "good" KFL (Infinite V2+) and I wish I had started with the Orchid. That sucker was 'spensive! If it weren't so pretty with all the accessories (colored tanks, top caps,...), it would stay in the box.

And I never said that about long coils. Shorts can happen with short coils too. Just meant that your build sounded a little skinny if you're getting 12 wraps with that resistance. Go a little fatter and you can have more wick. It's not too cool and airy with such a skinny coil?

What Hong Kong problem? I just placed a few orders from FT last week (VTC5's, 2 Stingray Xs) and I wanna pull the trigger on an Orchid v3.5.

Anyways, I'm still on the fence for my first tank system. I'm in between an Orchid v3.5, KFL v2 and Russian 91%. I'm currently testing out a friend's KFL. Coming from RDAs, the draw is sufficient but the whistling even after with removing the air flow screw is a little annoying.

No, not really. Remember, I have blocked the other air hole. OTOH, more wick means more wet, means less chance of no wick.

Just my choice, based on ethical principles, You can do what you want.

Cool,i never got back to working the channels anymore yet,but will follow that this weekend.I got 1 of them going ok for now,but definitely gonna open them up some more,so the way you did it sounds like a good way.I like to save money, but these super cheap kayfun clones take alot of work to get them going good haha.I was happy to get that air hole opened up though,it is a kayfun lite clone, and the airhole was about the size of a 14 gauge needle, felt like i was going to blow a lung trying to take a draw on it before haha.

If your coming into tank type attie's from an rda,and want something similar, hands down,go with the orchid. It is by far the closest to an rda as far as performance and flavor.

I finally got my v4 today, this thing is awesome.Very good machining, came out of the box very clean, and best of all,i didn't even know they did away with those stupid little allen head screws and switched to phillips head, that was a big bonus. My m-tanks and a new spool of kanthal will be here tommorow,i ran out of kanthal,so as soon as this shows up i will get the v4 built, filled, and be happy haha.

I got my Russian 91% clone. Had some trouble setting it up, problems with leaks. Finally did a vertical coil, and the leaks stopped. It is a complicated thingy-- the price was very good given that. It does in nine pieces what an Orchid does in six. Better volume, but....

For further RTA's, I think I will go with Orchids.
