I'd like to thank all that have replied for your support, advice and general understanding of how I'm feeling. The support network here is just incredible, surprised the heck out of me actually, and I must say it's probably better than going to church or an AA meeting :)

So other than looking at the no battery 510 USB pass through that Northern Vapors sells I've not really looked at any other gear, I'm pretty much tapped out till next pay anyway so no sense teasing myself with stuff I can't have. Kind of figure a USB pass through would be the ticket given that I spend a great amount of time at a workstation then I could just use the T-Rex for when I'm driving or whatever. I experimented a little with highping's mod and it worked out pretty good with one of the cartridges that came with my kit so that would likely do me fine for the amount of time I'm on the go during the winter. Summer would be a different story though as I'm outside more often in the warm weather.

Anyway thanks again ya'all for the shoulders, your for sure a great group of people :2cool:

If you vape a lot, go for an eGo battery - they'll last a lot longer than a 510 will. If you get an eGo battery with USB passthrough then you can plug it in while you're at your workstation - it will charge off the USB while you vape. When you unplug it you'll have a fully charged eGo battery to enjoy on the way home. Thirty bucks plus shipping - the cost of four packs of smokes pretty much. Use it for 4 days and it's paid for itself.

Canadian Electronic Cigarette Happy/Joye eGo USB Passthrough Battery

Oh - anyone know of any HappyVaper coupons to help Stewie out? I know of the VAPEHAPPY one for 15% off, but perhaps there are special ones for full eGo kits that would help?

(There's a reason we're all mentioning HappyVaper so much - takes the "bad customer service" right out of the equation)

don't get a 510 passthrough with no battery.

After researching USB port specs just a little that would be a rather dumb idea wouldn't it. I wonder how many have purchased a battery-less PT device thinking they'd be all set for some mad vaping while sitting at their computer only to find out it was a waste of cash? Why would some dippo in China produce these things when the reality is most USB ports can't deliver more than half an amp yet the device with a typical 510 atomizer would require at least 1.5 amps.

There are a few ways to go with 5 v USB PT's, none of which are plugging it into the USB port of your computer directly.

The best thing to do is to get a simple USB Hub, I use my RockBand hub (since it gets no use otherwise) and it has worked fine, with no fried anything yet. Had I not clued in I could have killed USB ports or worse, my computer.

Because of the nature of these devices I would have to suggest either plugging into the wall with a 5 volt wall adapter or a powered USB hub.

Keep in mind that this is only for 5 volt USB passthroughs and not eGo PT's. eGo pt's are great because it's about as close to a "mod" as you're going to get with a proprietary 3.7 v battery device.

You could just burn your cash that would be quicker. :p.

I have a 510 pass through with a battery that worked fairly well. I have not used it once since I got my ego pass through. It has a mini USB plug on it so I already had connectors for it at my computer and in my car. I can go for a week without ever having it completely drained.

Well I've been sucking on my last T-Rex battery like it's a pacifier since 4pm, zero analogs in that time of course, and now the battery is blinking :(

Have to find something to do for a couple of hours while it charges so as to keep me away from those cheap native smokes I got on stash...eating should do the trick :pop:

Good choice to think of the passthrough. I adore mine immensley. And I spend my majority of the time vaping from it!! I got mine from www.happyvapor.com

And the situation deteriorates some more... @#$% !! :grr:

My remaining T-Rex battery is headed down the same FAIL path the first one did!

Looking at the clear plastic part, where it lights up, with my 10x jewelers magnifier I can see where the silver ring part mates up to it it's got some fine little cracks in it. Right now it's about as wiggly as the the first one was when I first noticed it so I fear if I keep using it it will be in the same condition the other one is in in no time.

Total **CENSORED** BS...

Man, that sucks !.... you sure are having a rough start to this no doubt.

I'd get hold of vapors kitchen and let them know & see how they want to handle it since you appear to still be under their 14 defect warranty mentioned in thier terms & conditions.

Hope you get things ironed out so you can relax and enjoy an e-cig rather than farting around with it all the time.

Best wishes for a positive outcome....

VapeOn,
Greg

I'm with smokum, I would certainly be contacting the chef and explaining the situation with your kit.

Don't get discouraged, I still smoked regular cigs for 3 months before making the switch, just gradually less everyday, it gave me plenty of time to find a good ecig (with many backups) and good liquids that I really like. If money is really an issue you can create your own liquid, for about 100 bucks you can get about a year worth of liquid, there's a subforum about DIY liquid here. This is what I should have done when started instead of spending many hundreds of dollars for unvapable liquids.

What a lot of bad luck. I hope you do get everything all sorted out. I was very lucky to have someone guide me thru the process starting with Happy Vapers for my hardware...Jack is definatly the best. I wish I was in London and could get to you to give you one of my batteries. After all these months I have aquired several so I never have to run out of batteries, addys, carts, juice or chargers. I have a 510 pass thru and have not heard about the problems with them can someone let me know what is going on???
Good luck on vaping the worst has to be over by now.

Just gotta say, I've bought from Evapers, HappyVaper and Vapables and all three vendors are Phenominal... I also know that there is a lady in Calgary who hooked up another lady free of charge when she got screwed over by CanadaPost...

As for myself, I've spent roughly 500.00 on my ecigs since my first crappy Mini-Ecig that i bought from the UK a year ago and then stopped vaping for a year). as of tuesday night I will own:

1 mini ecigarette battery
1 mini ecigarette atomizer
1 mini ecigarette Charger (works ok, the battery is roughly the same as a 510 but I have no idea what size atomizer it uses, its a bitter connection than the 510)
1 working 510 Atty
1 dead 510 atty (won't even fire up, no idea why)
2 working 510 Batteries
1 510 charger
30ml 38mg/ml Caramel ejuice (half gone and then refilled half by VG juice... never use more than 20-30% VG... you totally loose the TH)
30ml 28mg/ml flavourless ejuice
1 3ml tobacco flavoring
1 3ml coffee flavoring
1 3ml vanilla madagascar flavoring
1 dram rootbeer flavoring
1 dram watermelon flavoring
1 dram raspberry flavoring
1 dram butter rum flavoring
1 dram apple flavoring
*all my flavorings are Lorann, except the tobacco flavoring*
3 3ml plastic vials
1 30ml plastic vial

and coming in the mail (for me and my buddy)
2 Classic Ego atomizers (510 atty & cone)
2 Ego Atomizers (atty & cone in one device)
4 Ego batteries
2 drip tips
30 ml 26mg/ml Players Tobacco flavor Ejuice.

if i had known better up front, i would have gone straight to the eGo (just from what everyone has said)

next paycheck i plan to buy a Box mod kit, just for something to do. and I've already got a Flashlight mostly modded (just need to get my eGo and make sure i'm satisfied before i tear one of the 510 Batteries apart to install the connector in the flashlight and then i just need to buy 3 10440 protected lion batteries which will be inserted into the factory battery casing in-line which will give me 3.7v and 1050mAh (which will give me almost a whole friggin day's worth of vaping)

I figure, i spend at least 100.00 a month on tobacco at present (buying cheap tobacco and tubes for the equiv of a pack a day), if i spend twice as much a month up front, playing around finding my "fit" and then spend 50 a month on juice (i get pretty decent cheap 28mg flavourless juice at 18.00 for 30ml) i realy can't complain...

I haven't completely given up on analog's yet... but that's partially because the 510 isn't meeting my needs fully and partially because i'm still working on it... but i went from a pack a day down to 1 or 2 a day...

Wow, really sorry to hear about this bud, I hope your supplier sorts out your t-rex for you. I started off with a fancy model and had nothing but problems with it within the first week so I just got a basic 510 manual.

Things much more durable and takes a decent amount of abuse from me, I cooked a few batteries but my own fault from overfilling the cartridges and swamping it (a night in the fridge followed by everclear cleaning sorted 2 of em out at least, why those particular manual batteries still had a hole in the top anyhow is still a mystery to me).

First day I picked up an e-cig tho I put down the analogues pretty much for good (I had one as the result of a family emergency standing outside the hospital on new years day). Then again I was what a lot of you would probably term a light smoker anyways (1/2 pack a day of canadian classic whites).

I hope your able to get on to a decent reliable model and stick with it, it can work, it's just a shame that there's so many snake-oil peddlers trying to turn a buck off of this stuff, it really can help people get off the mega-cancer sticks.

I deal mostly with electro-vapors here in alberta and have had 0 problems with them myself (which is nice in a vendor I can get stuff in 2 days from).

It's expensive to start out, especially if you start trying new juices and devices.. I have about a thousand bucks worth of invoices here for all the random e-cig junk I've bought in the last four months. (Gotta try all the different cartos and mods and juices!) I've found what works for me though, and the cost goes way down once you find something good enough to stick with, and aren't buying random things to see if they are better. (Plus with the amount of money saved not buying cigarettes, I'm about a hundred bucks ahead now - and that'll only increase with time).

I am curious what your setup is. I would like to try ego. I am using 510 right now but the ego is looking mighty fine!
