With regards to this petition that is feverishly going around (and I signed), what benefits to us, as a community, do we forsee with any form of government involment.
I'm beginning to think I made a mistake in signing it. I forsee regulations, government employees to oversee these regulations and taxes (us) to pay these employees. Like everything else the government is involved in, it will be over budget, over regulated, under funded and it could spell the end of a great number of our smaller suppliers due to these regulations, inspections, license fees, etc. etc., etc....
Please correct me if I'm on the wrong track

here's the thing: they're going to do that ANYWAY. They're probably going to basically tell us "up yours the FDA decides that", what we need is ANY kid of response from them so if and when they do say that, we can get a hold of the media, particularly the more conservative media outlets so it'll be one more thing to bash obama about, we want to cause a scene and get heard out there.

Now on the flip side if they DO say "you know what? what the hell? sure e-cigs are great!" that's good in that, while there will be regulations as you say there will, if this happens they'll be more willing to work with us.

NOTHING, I repeat NOTHING bad can come out of signing this petition.

One thing I haven't seen anyone mention is the present occupant of the white house just quit smoking. Just maybe he is the right one to talk to about this.

Just remember ALL politicians lie and most smokers that quit lie after a while unless they're in that 2-5% that stay quit for 20 months. I sure know I did in the dozen or two quit attempts I had in my 43 years of smoking. It would start out as little lies with a puff here and there, then a series of puffs on a cigarette or two a day when no one was around, the a few cigs a day when no one was watching. Finally it was out of the closet and back to smoking.

Maybe he quit maybe not, only he really knows. I've gone over 20 months without a single drag and don't even miss it and I didn't even try to quit this time, I just got talked into trying an e cig. So if you're out there Pres. O, sneaking a few puffs in the Oval Office while no ones watching, do yourself an the country a favor. Give one of those E Cigs a go, try some snus or other safer smokeless alternatives and join us in signing the petition.

You'll be happy, we'll be happy and the country will be happy, except maybe the FDA, BP and all those other ANTZ (Anti nicotine and tobacco zealots like that crazy man we got rid of in WW2).

Ok first of all rothenbj, your Avatar is hilarious.

Like squirl said, they're going to do that anyway. So since they are going to be regulating the industry it is in our best interest to voice our opinions, share our knowledge and experience and try to have those regulations be more favorable to the ecig community.

The writing's on the wall. It may be a bit blurry at this point, but I think I can make it out: coming regulation will likely put an end to online sales of nicotine-bearing liquids at the very least, and perhaps all e-cig devices. Face-to-face sales means federal AND state taxes, and, of course, the kids will be blocked from buying, which is what they will focus on as justification.

So, I'm stocking up big-time. Big bottles of juices, extra batteries, maybe a mod box, and plenty of cartos. My nearest e-cig brick & mortar, if you can call it that, is a guy in a flea market an hour away who sells 30ml of non-Dekang (Hangsen maybe) Chinese juice for $32 with sales tax. Add on some federal taxation and I might be looking at $40. I would hope tobacco shops would jump on board and carry the stuff, but who knows.

Oh, there's always that dork in the mall selling whatever crap he's selling. He probably has some nasty cartos...
