I actually make my own "Pre-Mix".

I like to use about 18mg/ml 30% PG|70%VG e-liquids that have 12~15% Flavoring/Sweetener. So I make Pre-Mix that is 20.5mg/ml @ 25% PG|75%VG Pre-Mix out of 48mg/ml Nicotine Base.

The Higher mg and VG of the Pre-Mix is offset when the Flavoring and Sweetener is added in the Flavored Mix. So I end up right around my Target e-liquid.

The Ginormous advantage to doing things this way is there is Nothing to Wash when I do a Flavor Mix. And the Only thing I need when I make the Pre-Mix is a Graduated Cylinder.


I like doing DIY. And it is Fun. But I Dis-Like washing Lab Glass every time I do a Mix.

I keep my own premix in an 8oz bottle.
I use only FW & MBV flavorings.
They are designed to all work at the same mixing percentages.
Easy as Dutch Apple Pie

I use plastic graduated cylinders and Monoject syringes (awesome) and mix in my 1oz, 2oz or 4oz bottles.
Plastic's hydrophobic so the liquid pours out quicker and more completely than glass.
I don't bother with small test bottles. I make 20-30ml for a test.
It's cheap enough at 4¢/ml especially because they all mix at the same %

Here is a Label I made a Long Time Ago after misplacing the Recipe for one of my Mixes.

Figured I'd just put the Recipe on the Bottle Label.

I premix my nicotine and vg/pg base into 60ml bottles so as to save time when making a recipe. The nicotine difference is too minute to worry about doing the nicotine separately and it works beautifully for me. If I'm not getting that extra small amount of nicotine and it's working for me and the 4 others I'm making e-juice for I see no reason to change it now.

Firstly, I pull up the ejuicemeup calculator with the required recipe
Secondly, I get the required sized bottles out and line them up.
Thirdly, I get out the flavors called for
I use a syringe without a needle to draw up each flavor one by one and add them to the bottles
I mix these flavors well before adding the premixed base. Shake well!
I add the premixed base to the mixed flavors and shake, shake, shake.
I give them a 15 minute hot water soak and shake, shake, shake.
Once cooled I give them another 15 minute hot water soak then shake, shake, shake.
I dry them off and let them cool to room temp then add labels.
I tell each person to shake the bottle well before filling.

I forgot to mention the most important part of my routine.
It's especially important when I'm making my premix or different strength/ratio for others:

I turn off the TV and the ringer on my phone and inform my wife that I'm doing science.
Once I start mixing nothing breaks my concentration.

100% concentration and focus.

I wanted to try mixing by weight, but my scale doesn't have the resolution required for it. What scale are you using?

5ml plastic disposable droppers. 20 cents each. Each is color coded with a bit of insulation tape.
Red marker for nic bottle.
Blue for PG
Black for VG

I use a glass pipette with a bulb on the end to pick up flavors
Used to use syringes but found the rubber / plastic adds a funny taste. So now only use glass when it comes to flavors.
The only thing I use plastic with is the PG / VG / Nic.

Mix everything into a beaker. Then hit it with my SMD hot air gun. Where you can control the temp +-1 deg c.
After its heated and mixed in the beaker. Then pour it into 50ml storage glass bottle.
The Storage Glass Bottles are stored in a round pan. Every 2nd day take out the pan with 10-15 bottle in it.
And heat water in it. This is to help steeping time.

So far have been playing with WizLabs tobacco flavors and have had zero luck. With anything close to being a good vape.
Just some so-so mixes.
My fruit flavors with locally sold natural flavors steep in a day and are getting very popular with my mates.
Who give me feedback and are my lab rates.

My 2cents. Go to a lab supplier and check out their glass bottles, pipetts, Borosil stuff.

What has stopped me from using weight is a few things:
1. I have over 60 flavors and considering they have different makeups. Some have PG, some VG, some Alcohol, some a combination of all of the above. I find it difficult to believe they are all 1g per ml. So I would have to weigh them all to get conversions.
2. Seems like VG thickness varies depending on where you purchase it from (again I'd have to break out the syring to weigh it to get my conversion).
3. PG&VG are great at absorbing moisture from the air so I wonder if their weight per gram changes as they absorb moisture.
4. (The most important one to me) I already have all my syringes and I'm comfortable using them. I would have to buy something else (scale) and get comfortable using that. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I have no qualms towards people using weight. Heck if I just started, maybe that's the direction I would have went. It's DIY and I believe you should use whatever method you're comfortable with and that gives you good results.

4. - Now you have only one reason

Since you drop from the bottle into the bottle, no waste and no cleaning.
Now you have 2 good reasons to be a weight'er.

People tend to think it's very complicated but rest assured it's really very simple.

The one big con I see is the calculator, as only a few, at the moment, will work with grams.

As I said the most important reason for me was #4. I already have my syringes, I'm comortable using them, and I get good results. To explain even further my flavors aren't in dropper bottles, so I'd have to use the syringes to get the flavors out either way (and clean them). I almost forgot, I'd have to buy a scale too. I see no reason to spend more money when the supplies and method I'm using produces great results for me.

It's DIY and I strongly believe people should use whatever method they are comfortable with and that produces good results for them. For me that's syringes. For you that's weight. To each, his own!

Absolutely.

Using 1g/ml for All Flavorings is Completely Repeatable.

What is the Difference if a Flavor is .9g/ml or 1.04g/ml? DIY should be about doing a Mix that Tastes Good. And not about Achieving Numerical Accuracy to the Actual Masses of a given Fluid.

I try to keep everything EZ. 1 pint glass bottle fill with 50/50 PG AND VG and add my nicotine. That is my base and it is ready anytime I want it.

When I want to add flavors it is a snap. Usually use 2oz bottles when mixing flavors. From this bottle I fill my Ucan bottle and am ready to fill my RBAs.

I always leave my new flavors uncapped for 15 minutes. It seems to enhance the flavors when I let them "breath."

As an herbalist I use therapeutic grade essential oils for all my flavors except caramel.

Other flavors you can make are vanilla from vanilla bean, coffee from fresh organic beans, etc.

I want to know what is in my juice and don't trust those cheap juices from China.

Mine is pretty simple. I make up my own nic base in a 250 ml bottle. I use glass bottles so if Im making a large batch I make sure to lable the tops and then I add the flavorings and top them off with my base. I put them in a crock pot on low for an hour shaking every 20 minutes. I take them out and dry and label them and then leave them uncapped for a few hours. Good shaking and they go in my steeping box.

The only equipment i use is a 30 ml syringe to mix up my PG VG and nic and a few 5 ml syringes for my flavorings...
