Company provided me with an iPad. I haven't found anything I actually would want to use it for. I suppose it's handy for walking around the house surfing the web. If that was my job, I'd use an iPad for work.
Company last week swapped my old phone out for an iPhone. And well....
It's big. In a phone, for me, big sucks.
It didn't break when I dropped it 15 feet onto concrete. I did NOT do this on purpose. Really, it slipped out of my hand. Maybe cuz it's too big.
It actually can make phone calls, though sound quality sucks at both ends.

I use this one, also company provided, mainly for, well, here! Sits easily on the arm of my recliner. Other than that, a quick email where I don't have to attach a file.

The 5s has sound assassin; it's a background noise filter. If I have it turned on I have to have the phone it just the right spot for someone to here me well. I got sick and tired of having to form to the iPhones concept of ergonomics so I keep it off and I am heard just just fine.
It's in:
settings>accessibility>phone noise cancellation.

Exactly!
When I'm here, most of the time, I've got a desktop and a laptop directly in front of me...so using the iPad would seem silly.
Plus, being "company equipment" I pretty much presume anything I do on either apple device may end up being evidence at some point. LOL

It doesn't matter the NSA has access to everything anyway.
My laptop crashed in the middle of my last semester and I thought of calling them for a recovery disk. Then again I also go outside once in a whole just so I can look at the sky so I can wave for a satellite photo.

Yeah, my employer - we have someone in charge of data security who LITERALLY has lunch with NSA people, and they chit chat about things like, well, data security - or lack thereof. So it's a pretty safe bet they've got my web browser history directly connected to an HR file or something.

Being a total tech geak; none of that sort of thing really bugs me anymore. But, I grew up with it. My dad was one of the first graduates at Tulane University for Cimputer science. They didn't have a software or programming degree offered yet, it was all under one umbrella. But he's a software engineer for the oil industry. I can't remember NOT having a machine; Knowing anything I do on it or with it can be seen by someone. At the same time if it's nothing interesting no one is going to take the time to look at it. I'm still a fan if online privacy. In fact I use a third party browser on my Idevice for that very reason. But, i know Uncle Sam can turn my camera on and look at my fat face whenever they want. They could be looking at my fat face right now. Maybe I should say hello.
Something to said for old tech. The original cell phones can't be tracked or listened too. The older ones; back when it was the big heavy cell phones in a bag used an analog signal. It's sort of like am versus fm. Analog was more secure and traveled farther but the quality wasn't as well-like am radio. The newer signals have more quality but are no where near as secure and don't travel as far.

When I was just lurking I was taken aback by lots of incorrect usage, there/their/they're for instance, but now that I'm typing I see how easy it is to let something slip. 50 or so pages ago I used your when I meant you're so I'm not going to be busting anyone. Also the damn autocorrect has caught me several times, even to the point of changing the word I meant to be using. Being a techno (meaning I know nothing about tech stuff) served me well for many years but has left me at a disadvantage now. I'm learning, but I know many more mistakes are in my future. Hopefully we can have fun with them.

I'm sorry, I didn't realize you would take it as a personal affront. I shall not tease in the future.

In other news, WHAT THE HECK?

All of a sudden, for no reason whatsoever, my Russian is hitting like, well like I wish it would all the time.
I didn't rebuild it - I was GOING to, but it seemed to be working better than I remembered so I decided to leave it alone and refilled it instead. And now it's DEFINITELY just hitting better.

Do you find a kayfun/russian build has a "break-in"?
This is ready-x-wick, not cotton...and the builds nothing special - maybe a bit low ohms if anything.
It DID drop 1/10 it was 1.3 or 1.4 but now it's reading 1.2.
(Somewhat surprised that's still firing at 3.6 on the ProVari - I have to be near the amp limit)

Not complaining, just confuzzled.

There was no affront taken, keep teasing, it is part of why I came here. Was just trying to explain some of my problems. Worse yet is posting something I meant as kidding but taken personally. Still haven't figured out how to make my meanings come across correctly. I learn slow but incompletely. lol
