I am a dinosaur. I do not do Facebook. I also do not have a cell phone. I am techless.

I resist technology, but it always corners me. I only have the barest if requirements though.

Did you try the Russian and it had problems or did you not try it due to what you read?

I lovingly cleansed it. It is cradled in its original packaging and will be carried off to the vape meet tomorrow evening where I hope to have help from a couple of seasoned rebuilders there to help diagnose any problems. Since I have never seen a R91 before I do not want to attempt a build and screw something up. I am just hoping the rba bunch is at the meet tomorrow.

If only one or two of the coop members were having the center pin problem I would have attempted a build, but many are having the problem. I should know by tomorrow night if I am a lucky one or if some fiddling by experts can get me a fix. If they find a fix, I will relay a detailed description of the fix here. So my hopes are high.

I'm a bit enchanted by the solid black one Tobeco has coming out. Black PVD over stainless. It only come with one tank, but the clear tanks of the others are pointless for me to use anyway {{On my desk a bottle of my juice is whispering Feed Me...}} The solid black would look so cool on the Stealth.

Your Highness,

May I humbly suggest you purchase a genuine for your first KFL. It is not like you can't afford it, and I believe the genuine devices give you the greatest chance of a positive experience. If you like it, then get you some clones.

I guess there's 2 dinosaurs here. I don't do facebook either. Waste of time to me.

I signed up at my Mom's insistence. Now I can sit down while we're on the phone and nod and go "Yeah, Mom, that's really cute." when my sister posts pic number one million and one of my nieces. And they are really cute, and I love 'em dearly, but do we really need photographic documentation of every waking second of our children's lives? I'm living for the day the younger one (the one that's not a big ham like her sister) looks at the camera with a one finger salute. My older sister is properly anti-tech, so of her brood I get the occasional snail mail with a wallet-sized school photo tucked into a holiday card.

My oldest daughter is like that and Birthday parties?? OMG!! Open a present, take a picture. Rinse and repeat over and over and over again. You can see the expression on my grandkids face. "Really Mom? Must we year after year after year?" I bet she has over 1500 pics on her page. I don't know. Like I said, I don't do facebook so she emails them to me.

Holy crap!! I'm watching a recorded "Crossroads" with Rascal Flats and Journey. I know it was 7 years ago so I reckon I just came out from under my rock but, there's a little Filipino feller named Arnel Pineda that replaced Steve Perry. He freakin' sounds like him!! Simply Red has goose bumps! :thumb:

Did mine on Monday....

And not to make Edd cringe but 91% works, too. It just takes a bit longer to dry. Unless you have Amazon Prime, this item is no longer available for free shipping. So I just go buy it at WalMart.

Okay, that is certainly true (and I most assuredly do cringe), but let me explain my opposition to 91% alcohol.

1) 91% contains 900% (9X) more water than 99% alcohol. Water is a threat to damage your ProVari. Sure, the ProVari is engineered to resist it, but that doesn't mean we introduce water to the inside of our devices unnecessarily. The less water in the ProVari, the better.

2) It (91%) is significantly more difficult to clean with, and will never get the contacts completely clean. This means that you are going to spend more time stabbing a Q-tip that has two things that can damage your version 2.5 ProVari in it. Isopropyl is a threat to the adhesives on the board of this model, so the less alcohol solution that you must put in the device, the better. No matter how careful you are with the Q-tip, some of the solution will get away from you. With 99% alcohol, one or two swabs with the Q-tip does the job.

3) The cost is not prohibitive. Now if 99% alcohol was $25 a bottle, I would not harp on always using it. I have only needed to order it once. I ordered two bottles like the one on my blog, and they have lasted me nearly a year. I suspect these two bottles are a roughly 2-year supply...so the bottles cost $16 for both of them shipped. Is that cost really an issue? To me, using the best product for the job is an easy choice.

Now, in a pinch, there is nothing wrong with temporarily using 91%. My only point is, if you are gonna keep a ProVari, you need to buy the basic materials that are needed for optimum maintenance!

EDIT: I added this to my blog, to really spell it out a bit clearer. So thank you for asking the question and challenging the assumption...I think my blog is better having this information in it!

I'm a HUGE journey fan. Didcha know Journey found Arnel through YouTube? damned fella has a sick voice. He's like Steven perry + enhanced vocal range. Faithfully is hands down my favorite song from them

Burping out loud using Tapatalk

He was discovered at the age of 15 or 16 singing Bohemian Rhapsody at a talent contest in the Philippines. Got it set up on YouTube to watch after this is over. They're singing Faithfully as I write this. Awesome!!

ADD: Now "Don't Stop Believing". Every time he opens his mouth and starts singing the goose bumps come back! Great show!!

ShariR,
Are you sure you HAVE a V2?

The trouble with the V2 pin isn't the looseness and moving block - that's a V1 problem and easy to fix.
The trouble with the V2 pin is that when they made it "floating" (spring-loaded so you don't have to adjust it for different mods or rings) something went wrong, and people are getting innacurate, changing atomizer resistance readings - it's not making a solid connection.

If you have the older V1 style pin and your block moves (this is true with MOST of them when new - from what I've heard - and it happened to me), we can talk you through that!

attachment.php

19 is what you see poking out the bottom, screws into 18, screws into 16 that's at the top holding your block in place.
UNSCREW 19 all the way, while kind of holding the block so it doesn't fall off.
Reach into the hole with a tiny screwdriver, and TIGHTEN 18 - again while holding the block - this time holding it tight so it won't rotate from you turning that screw.
Now put 19 back in.

That's it. You fixed the loose block, and now you can adjust the pin - turn #18 - to get your Russian to make a connection without a gap, or make a connection with a ProRing on, etc. I don't have a pix of what the new V2 pin looks like, but it involves a spring...

Ok. From my reading and understanding of same. Kebo is going to make available the V1 center pins to V2 buyers. The buyer has to contact vendor. Kebo is working on problem and new shipments will be with V1 center pin. Various vendors are saying they have V2 or V3. There is no official Kebo V3 so there is confusion out there right now.

I got my R91 in a coop so no vendor to contact for replacement V1 center pin. Not sure how that is going to be handled by the coop host. I washed my R91 out today and I am taking it with me to my monthly vape meet tomorrow where there are a few people that do builds all the time. I am hoping that one of these gentlemen will take pity on an old lady and help me figure out how to get my center pin out and then tighten down the positive block tight enough that it does not move. Or maybe one of them will have a V1 center pin. I am thinking I may have to buy a Fasttech clone to get a V1 center pin. That would be an expensive fix.

My first big girl RBA and this happens. And I research and overthink everything until I think it is foolproof. Not for this fool. I know I will figure out some kind of fix. When I got in on the coop there was only V1 so we did not know we were being shipped V2.

That is a question I have. How do I know what is the positive pin/block/post on my Russian or any other RBA like my Igo-L. I keep reading about the positive pin or post but do not know how to tell which one it is and do not remember reading how to tell.

Great diagram and explanation Train but I am fairly sure Shari does have the V2 as I was in the same "buy"...however, I have been using mine for a week now with absolutely no problems whatsoever.

In the buy there were those who ordered multiples and only had the problem with one...so the problem is sporadic but it is good that it has been recognized by the distributor, unfortunately I don't know when or what the outcome will be and people are looking for their own fixes.

I guess what I would like to know, is there some where, that I could just order both styles of replacement pins? I really don't want to deal with going to my b&m that I got this from, and asking if they can order them for me, mine is working ok, but I would like to have them on hand, if the one I have fails.

Just want to shout out to lion here...

Thanks for the ccleansing blog! Up to this point i had been using little alcohol swabs to clean the outside of my provari and using qtips and naolox on the threads and that was it...

I now have the 99% alcohol in my shopping cart from amazon. My funds are spent this payday, but its in my cart and ready for the 15th!
I didnt even think to try amazon for the alcohol duh!

I have some rda clones coming my way with some 6mg juice steeping now, also have my first kfl clone coming too!
As well as some airflow adapters. Im so excited!

For those that use the kayfun.... Are you lowering your nic levels for it... Like how you have to do with rda's?
