Has anyone ever got tired of vaping? I can't find a flavor that I'm not tired of, I'm tired of looking for a new one. I vape at 0 nic so it's not an addiction thing to nicotine, but I enjoy it because I can't eat the things that I vape. I bet I have about 100 flavors and can't find one I love. They all taste weird to me now.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Yup. Vaper's tongue. Can be triggered by sinus issues, oral abcesses, dehydration, and even some flavors can trigger it. For me, it was a butterscotch flavor that triggers it. Smell some coffee, brush tongue well, avoid alcohol/drink alcohol stop vaping for a few days, try vaping unflavored juice, drink a lot of water, have water on hand.

The goal to "fix" it is to basically reset your taste buds/olifactory receptors

It's frustrating. It hit me this past weekend. A good workout, a lot of water, and doing some cloud chasing with 0 nic pure VG helped me. Now my biggest problem is finding a good ADV that will work well in the KFL+ tank-- just can't find something that tastes good, does not gum up wick within a day, and will not crack the tank.

Yes, I'm at that point now too. Funny how something you once loved goes south on ya. Maybe our taste buds are playing tricks on us??

That's exactly why I vape Halo SubZero as my ADV. It's strong enough to overcome "dead" taste buds and keep things fresh enough to enjoy the other stuff I like :)

In 2 years, I haven't found an ADV. I get tired of stuff pretty quickly. With some flavors, I can go a day or two but others, I get sick of it and have to change when I get home. I used to carry 5 different flavors with me but that was a pain.

I have a lot of different pre-mixed flavors at home and then I mix them with others to give me more choices. I don't get vapers tongue all that often but that is a totally different thing for me.

PoM-PoM posted this a few pages back. It's the build I'm using going on a couple of days now.

Nothing complicated. Remove chamber & cap turning your Kayfun tank into a dripper.

Sent from a BIG phone.....Galaxy Note 3

Good to know for peeps on the fence when it comes to dripping. :thumb:

I know when I was skirting that same fence, I bought a few disposable atties and also tried my genny in auto-dripper mode. I think I was still waiting for my R91% to arrive at the time.

That's interesting. I bet that's it (the sinus issues). I have a sinus surgery next Monday cause they are so bad. This is my second sinus surgery. I don't have any oral abscesses and drink water constantly. So, I'm not dehydrated. I didn't even think of the sinus issues being a factor. It makes perfect sense though.

Absolutely. Your tongue/mouth can only taste sweet, salty, sour and bitter characteristics. The actual "tastes" come from your olifactory receptors. So if sinuses are causing problems, the actual flavor to sweet/sour/bitter components is going to be off. For me when it hits, everything tastes bitter.

Speaking of Kayfuns...........if anyone wants one that is about to be smashed into a hundred pieces, let me know

EDIT: to be clear, this in no way implies that I am selling or getting rid of. This was made as a joke and my intent was to state, "a Kayfun in hundreds of pieces", not a Kayfun before I break it. I apologize for any confusion on this

I set my R91% aside a week or two ago because it'd leaked juice in 3 dress shirt breast pockets, a pair of dress pants, my cubicle counter, cup holder in car,...

Trick I've found when in situations that could cause it to lose vacuum (elevators, bouncing around, drastic temp changes etc), is to keep it upside down, with a rag underneath. A few drops may come out the drip tip end (ie juice condensation etc), but pressure changes would have the wicking holes, with all of the air going into the chamber through air hole/drip tip to help equalize. Have it in right side up position, expansion of liquid/pressure changes will force the juice right into the chamber, and out friend gravity will pull it out the air hole :)

My R91 V1 was consistently leaking from the bottom seam, I changed the O-rings with the ones in the packet but it still leaked. After getting the V2, and buying the kit from FatDaddy's to fix it (which had all the O-rings) - I exchanged the O-rings again.

They all look the same so I don't know if it will make any difference, I just filled it again so we will see what happens. Can't be a change in pressure as it never leaves my computer desk.

What's the dealio drummersky??

 Well that's dramatic! What's the prob?

I just cannot get the thing to wick right. It worked for a bit and now, I cannot make it play nice. I get vapor and it is like vaping unflavored juice and every now and again, I get a good hit.

This was an issue in the beginning and I though I had fixed it but alas, no bueno

When I look at it after use, it doesn't look like I have enough cotton. The cotton only lays on the bottom of the coil with a pretty good gap and nothing touching the top of the coil. If I use more than that, nothing. This weekend, I used enough cotton to stay inside the coil and split the tails in half and cut half of it. That way, the tails weren't thick but the cotton in the coil was touching and that did nothing.

I am going to try to build my coil again with a smaller diameter but a smaller diameter is what I was having issues with before.

Just un-happy honestly.

Drummer, I'd recommend a 5/64ths drill bit with peaches and cream yarn. It's the perfect amount of cotton, every time. I don't have the patience for getting the perfect size cotton so I started with this. Still doing the same 4 months later.

I will have to try the yarn. I looked at Wally World the last time I was there but the shelf was a desolate wasteland of what probably only sat there for a very short time before other vapers bought it all.

My first build was on a 1/16 bit but I read that with the 70vg/30 that a larger diameter would do better for wicking. When I made a bigger diameter, that build worked for a while but when I had to change the wick again, it all went back downhill.

I assume that if the cotton is only laying on the bottom of the coil and not touching the top coil at all, that would be bad but using more cotton.........eh.........you know.

Drummerskey, does your Kayfun have adjustable airflow? How "open" do you keep it?
If you're getting no flavor/dry hits with a "bigger wick" and running heavy VG, you likely need to make that a tighter draw if possible. Sounds like you're not getting enough juice in the wick. A tighter draw will increase the vacuum in the Kayfun, causing more juice to flow into the chamber.

You definitely want the wick to be touching all of the coil. The cotton should "bunch" just a little on the entry side when you pull it through dry. Once it's saturated, it'll expand even more making a nice tight fit in the coil.

Yeah, it is the 3.1.

I normally keep it pretty open but have played with the adjustment before taking it apart..........going as far as tightening it completely and then backing it out a hair. It's odd to me because it isn't a "burnt hit", it is like I am vaping unflavored and this was my issue before. The clouds are actually pretty big........just no taste at all.

I do keep my cotton fluffy and I do pull it in as you described but once it gets saturated, mine doesn't expand.......so maybe I am using too little cotton.

I thought it was the juice channels but just read today that there is an actual "top and botton" to the chimney base. I haven't tried this but I don't see the channel on mine with the chimney base on and shining a light into it.

I didn't know about the top and bottom of the chimney base either. Huh. Looks the same from either end to me (kinda like a fling I had in college once, but that's a different story).

I've always had better luck with fairly dense cotton. Similar to the ole roll-your-own methods of days past...dense but not crushed.

I don't know this for fact, just read it in another forum post about the same issue I am having. However, I do know that I have not seen my channels when it is assembled with the chimney top off. I have looked a lot.

I think maybe I took the whole "don't use too much" to heart because the shrinking cotton has been an issue on all of my builds.

As I stated before, it is really frustrating because if it never worked, I would know it was my fault but when it occasionally works; it is hard to figure out where the issue is.

I had a picture of the nano body and I changed nothing except the body part, the other was working okay and the nano body gave me burnt hits like a mug...........constantly. Fortunately, the Kayfun 3.1 with nano body only holds .04 ml of juice
