Although I wouldn't have put it quite in those words, that's correct. The verse in Matthew 24:15-16
15 “So when you see standing in the holy place ‘the abomination that causes desolation,’[a] spoken of through the prophet Daniel—let the reader understand— 16 then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. refer to the prophecy in Daniel 9:27. The prophecies in Daniel were partially fulfilled but he was
specific about it being a
person putting an end to the sacrifices and setting up the abomination that causes desolation--it's not the dome of the rock. While the Romans destroyed the temple in 70AD, there's no record of anyone putting up the abomination of desolation before it was destroyed. Some people have been suggested as possible anti-Christs from the past such as Nero. (He wasn't even emperor yet when the temple was destroyed so it wouldn't have been him.) Also, you need to remember that the temple won't be built for Christians even though we are looking forward to it. It will be built by Jews (and for Jews) who are returning to God with temple sacrifices. Since the temple was completely destroyed once since Daniel's prophecy and the abomination didn't occur at the time, it stands to reason that either 1) Daniel was wrong about the prophecy, or 2) the temple will be rebuilt. (Although God's prophecy always stands so I opt for the second possibility--the temple will be rebuilt for and by the Jews.) It might be rebuilt before the tribulation starts or during the 1st part of the tribulation. It really doesn't matter. What we can tell is that it will be rebuilt and functioning as a temple with the sacrifices when the Antichrist comes in with the abomination.
BTW, I've been having physical problems lately and will soon get back to the bible study. We are approaching the study of Matthew 24.
