Hi Fleet. No I was too cranky earlier to post about being cranky. And trying to cool me out would just make me crankier. Every few months I guess I have to have a fit then I'm good to go. Might be cabin fever. I've been here for two weeks and the one time I've left the neighborhood was to go to the town dump with my brother. I usually dig through the recycled battery box when I'm there to look for rechargeables that people throw out. Sometimes I get lucky.

When I was a kid I had a great uncle Howard. We lived in the Adirondacks and he would take us to the dump at night to see the black bears picking through the stuff. He also took us out at night to steal stone from the county for fill in his driveway. He had big plastic buckets and we would fill them with stone and put them in the back of his car. That was very exciting for a 6, 7 year old. He was a cool guy. His wife, Roxie, she was a big woman. When we went to their camp she always had Nehi soda and Orange Crush for the kids. There were always candy dishes out too. Howard and Roxie never had kids of their own so they treated us well. :) Howard worked as an electrician in a wood plant near Tupper Lake NY. They made popsicle sticks, wooden bowling pins and those flat wooden spoons you used to get in Dixie Cups. Remember those? Uncle Howard always had peanuts in a shell in his pockets. He would sit outside in an old chair and roll the peanut around between his fingers and thumb. This would make a crackling sound. Soon a chipmunk(s) would appear and he would drop the peanut in his shirt pocket. The chippy would climb up him and into his shirt pocket and run away with the peanut.
Here's pics of Haward and Roxie I made in 1984:

Roxie loved to fish and her pieces of pie were enormous.

The part of Canada that doesn't get enuf Snow :(
I've also been on both sides of step sons. MY biological father was killed in an automobile accident before I was born. He died at 27. Mom remarried 5 years later. My step dad was always good to my older brother and I.

My second marriage included a 4 year old step son. He was always pressing the limits on everything. His mom coddled and made excuses for him as he grew up and she was easily manipulated by him. He's now serving 5-6 years for burglary. ...... addiction. I tried to help but mom interfered and nothing seemed to work with him. More than one person has told me they could see him getting in trouble down the road when he was 4 years old.

His mother is more ...... with him than I am believe me they don't see eye to eye thats for sure

When I can organize my thoughts, I'll chime in more. Yes, teens need more sleep, but we have the same rules here. If you want to be part of the household, then you are doing your part....period.

But in other news.....look at what may be my future driver... *wiggle, wiggle, wiggle* Can you guess what it is?

Teenagers do sleep a lot.Apparently its been shown that they need more sleep than adults and children, not because of laziness. Something about their biology.

No its because they party all night long Im not that far out of it that I forget

There are quite a lot of biological changes both emotional and physical happening then. I'm not surprised.

I was never a stepchild, but I could have been. But I decided before I turned 18 that being on the wrong side of a 12 foot fence with barbed wire on the top was not where I wished to remain once I became an adult. I had to learn the hard way. But I learned. Guess it was better to get it over with before I ended up ruining my life. At 14-16 you have time to learn, once you become an adult you learn as well but if you've been in the system that long before you do then you start learning the wrong stuff.

Back then the guards used to beat the snot out of us. And it was socially and institutionally acceptable even though we were juveniles. I remember, every time they'd put me in a van to go off to court they gave each of us a fresh pack of Marlboros. You could smoke in the courthouse back then and in the facility when you got back if you had any left. If not family or friends could bring them to you. It's no wonder I was so hooked for so long when even the judicial system supported the habit so to speak.

At least I took that time as a wake up call and once I turned 18 I never got caught again :)

Ya, that kinda happened to me too with a '52 Dodge flatbed. I was kinda mad about it for a while...but eh...its just history. This one was delivered today to the property...originally was going to be used for a parts rig, but when it arrived, they discovered it was in way better condition than anticipated.
