Oh geez, Val....you guys are getting flooded already?? :( I sure hope you stay safe....keep us posted.

Feel better Darrel!!

The rain started last night and hasn't stopped. Now the wind just picked up and the plastic chairs from superbowl just got blown into Garland Lake aka my backyard. It sounded pretty bad, but was a relief to see it was only chairs. They can swim there for all I care

The front yard is sloped a down, but the raised beds are filled so we have to keep up with that or it comes onto the porch. It has been a long time since this has happened, but so far so good as long as we stay on top of it. If it doesn't stop, it is going to be a LONG night. We need this rain desperately, but geez it would be nice if it just wouldn't come all at once ya know?

I don't visit here much anymore but Im sorry your taking such a hit Val. Please stay safe and I hope it gets better where your at.

Good luck Val!

Good luck pumping Val. :)

We are safe, it is the water coming in the house I am worried about. We have a canal for a street in front, and a lake for a backyard

It stopped for now, so we can add our lake water to the canal and all is well. The desert just doesn't soak water in well. It gets saturated and the flooding starts. DH was on his way to work this morning, got halfway there when he saw the roads flooding and turned around when he realized that if I called him with flooding there was no way he would make it back in time to get the pumps set up. It's been years since this has happened, and as long as he sets up the pumps I can handle it on my own. We had some work done in the backyard and apparently it drains different now so he literally had to dig to get the water to flow away from the house. Then we could just squeegee off the patio away from the sliding doors. I don't care what he dug up, as long as no water gets inside! Our gutters in front were cleaned out, but we had a failure of some sort so he is going to have to do something about that too.

I pump real well as long as he prepares me ;)

I hope everyone who wanted their woodvil came away pleased!

Well it's good that it's not coming up to your porch.

When I first moved to AR, I was suprised at how hard it rains and how quickly things flood. I think FL is like that too. This is photo of where I first lived, there is a creek that overflows and that drive you see is the ONLY WAY OUT off the property.

We are talking high current and you do not drive thru. I've seen it carry huge 100 year old trees that fell down.

Americans don't eat this, but i do and i got HRH to make it for me: steak and kidney pie. It's dynamite and done the proper way - like Granny taught me - it's a real nightmare and takes 2 days to make, bake and finish.

I bought HRH a new food mixer 3 days ago, so i'll let the making almond cake stuff go for now....

hehehe!

I went up my friends house for the series premiere in 1908! JK I think it was around 1976 or so. I was surprised to learn recently that Pam Dawber is married to Mark Harmon for 27 years. They're both awesome!
