I'm going to ask this here to cause I know there's some computer geniuses here:

I spent all day working on a paper for school, saved it, and can't find it. I started off opening it from an email I sent myself in gmail. finished it after about 7 hours of work. saved it before I finished it, then when I went to attach it into my online course, I couldn't find it. It wasn't on my desktop where stuff I save gets saved when I'm using firefox. wasn't in documents. I inadvertently closed firefox in my panic to find it, so my history was deleted. did a search through my computer. still can't find it. Called my IT friend, but he's a Mac user. He couldn't help me find it either.

I'm afraid it may have been saved to a temporary file. but it seems that if I was using office word, there should have been a version saved in my computer....

Might want to try the following: How to Search for Files in Windows Using Wildcards | eHow

Hope this helps. Let's know.

 Yikes....our "someday to be" son in law just about got tossed out of our house on his head. Dude just flipped out about football...an irrational rant that turned hostile, complete with yelling at my husband. I'm really glad we have mellowed out in our old age. Still in shock. going to have to have a talk with our daughter about that. that's the father of our grandson...and I'm tellin ya. That. was. not. normal. :glare:

It was weird. He's this scrawny little guy with a weak stomach (gets sick at the drop of a hat) who never has even thought about playing sports decided that we need to do something about all the NFL players that keep killing themselves and everyone around them because of the damage incurred while playing the sport....and the protective gear hasn't changed in 50 years....like, what? Everyone in our family has played football...and we are well aware of the ever changing rules and safety gear. It was the most irrational rant I've heard since my mom lived here. and that's saying something. Well...he had his one free bad form pass. If there is a next time, all bets are off. :glare: If Wayne doesn't toss him, I'll throw him over my shoulder and bump into every wall on the way out. :glare: Hard.

We all have to pick our battles. The crazy stuff some kids choose to try to make a stand on is totally baffling!

Imagine what would have happened if one of us did that as a kid, in another family's house no less!

Check downloaded files. Go to My Documents and look there, then look under Downloads.

I don't understand this:
I started off opening it from an email I sent myself in gmail

Did you open a document in gmail that you sent to yourself? If so go to that email again and open it again. Type something then go to save. Look at what pops up to see where it will save it. That is where your first file should be.

I hope the talk with your daughter goes well. Irrational hostile behavior would be setting off warning bells and lights like crazy.

I know, riiight? I even asked Wayne "are we familiar enough with that guy for that kind of bad form???" I mean, we've known him a couple of years, but we see them like 4 or 5 times a year. I get that familiarity breeds contempt, but I'm not even willing to admit that we've even gotten to the familiar part. Besides, i certainly wouldn't behave that way at his house, and I'm 15 years older than he is.

Wayne is nicer than I am. I'd let him know that if he even thought of behaving that way around my family again that I would put him on a hospital food diet for a month.
