Good morning REOvillians!

(((Sashwa))) So sorry to hear about your loss :(

It's been windy here. Wind in spring wreaks havoc on allergy sufferers, so I am guessing that my brother won't be making it to dinner tonight. If I am feeling it, he is most likely a mess. Poor guy. He is going to miss my spatchcocked chicken :D

I hope everyone is having a stellar day!

Ya..they did evaluate her. She has a documented disability, but they just decided to make her tests shorter (less questions) and at the end of the year give her pass/fail, no letter grades. To me it seems like they're covering up their own inadequacies in handling kids with greater needs than others by doing that. I hope we can get her the help she needs or find a way to provide it ourselves. Just waiting for a few of her teachers to respond with the information I need (what materials or sections need to be addressed) so I can help her. In the meantime, Wayne and I are impressed that she has the gumption to keep swinging for the fences despite the feeling that it will be for naught. She's trying, so we keep on trying right along with her.

Actually, after yesterday's meeting with her mom, I need to change this. They did evaluate her and document a disability. They decided that she would be allowed to test in a different way, not less questions, but outside of the classroom (but still monitored) and a few other changes, but not one of her teachers are willing to allow it. If I understood correctly, this was addressed two years ago. So regardless of their "ruling," she will have to continue as normal and if she fails, she fails....that's their position anyway. No, this isn't over....not by a long shot. We (her mom, Wayne and me) are going to hold the school district accountable. If they resist, I will take this all the way up the chain of command to my senator (he lives in that school district) if I have to. I have direct access to him if needed.

I've been following your woes with your SD Lisa. And I say...you are a major Momma Bear! That school district doesn't stand a chance with you in the mix, never mind Wayne and the girl's mom!
Lots of super strong vibes to all of you for going the extra mile for this child! At the least, she has to feel very very good to know that she has so many adults in her corner fighting for her rights. I can hardly wait to hear the final outcome cuz i know it'll be a major win!

That is the only way to make things happen. I've always considered "love" to be like a "concealed weapon". It can get things done. :)

Thanks, Kay. We're going to do our best, but I have a deep seated fear that we may be too late. While she's showing up every day, on time...I can tell that she's kind of given up subconsciously. Her classwork grades are slipping even further, it's almost as if her brain has just had enough. I hope we can turn it around...because to be super honest, the next step is for her to give up and drop out. That's what I did (different circumstances though), and I really don't want her to go that route. She can get by, I did...but it just makes things unnecessarily harder...and at the time, I was better prepared than she is because I was already living on my own. Just crossing my fingers that we're on the right track. I'm just super impatient right now. I HATE waiting for these people to respond!

I would always want Lisa in my corner. If it got bad Wayne could be a back up. I also suggested years ago that she run for president but she didn't want to. I can't blame her for that. I am always impressed how so many Reonauts can juggle so many things at once. I know me and I couldn't. I would rather observe from the comforts of the lazyboy, the command and control center of the universe, well at least my universe, which incidentally is shrinking at an ever faster rate.

I am making chicken and biscuits for eats tonight so I guess I am doing something.

Around these parts the grass is greening, the forsythia is just starting to bloom and here and there some daffodils are out. Trees are budding but no leaves and the birds are being very frisky.

Thanks Laurin  It's funny you mentioned president. Teagan has been aspiring to be the president of the US for about the last 5 years. Her biological sperm donor laughed at her and told her she was silly. We did not. I have no doubt that she can do anything she aspires to with the effort and drive she employs nearly every day and I told her as much. But I also told her if she changed her mind, I'd never hold it against her or laugh at her for it. Dream big, reach far, you never know what you can achieve. So...while I thought she had backed off of this dream over the last year, she has renewed vigor as she approaches high school, has enrolled in NJROTC, and stated during her high school registration last night that the presidency isn't off the table yet. God I love her!!!

Correct me if I'm wrong Lisa ( on the very rare occasion i have been..) But I believe that your SD has a distinct advantage as she has you and her dad in her corner.
