Good Evening REOVille. 600 mile day trip today. Noticed something wrong with the lower left corner of the left lens on my glasses. Washed, rubbed, and the specks turned into smears. Closer examination reveals protective coating wearing off. With my prescription (blind) there goes $600.
So I come home and finally hop on the riding mower. Mamaw happy lawn is finally getting cut. Then, after making maybe eight passes, the left blade spindle shears the key. My daughter's companion (or live-in) has a grass cutting business on the side, so maybe I'll just have to pay to get lawn cut. Judy says he'll do it for nothing, but I (almost) wouldn't feel right not paying him.
But a cool evening vape after a Mamaw supper helps. a little....

Sounds about right Jim. I get something like +6.25 in one lens, +6.5 the other. They have to be special ground for me. Add lineless bifocals ( so I can read instrument gauges or watch road without eyes having to adjust), protective coating (HAH !) and photo ray tinting ( if that's what they still call it) and I'm probably out a good week's paycheck. Then we get back to normal stuff like lawn mower, Mamaw's Car, Home repair. monthly bills....

If an EMT ever resuscitates me, I might punch him in the ear for doing so.....

Last month i paid for new glasses for HRH. Naturally she wanted the photochromic ones that were varifocal (?) and of course they wouldn't fit in her existing frames, so new frames too. As well as all the eye-testing and other palaver.

$857.

So $857 is the going rate for silence?

Now you quit talking like that...get your glasses fixed and let someone else do your lawn for you...ya hear:laugh: During your busy season it would be worth it's weight in gold to have your lawn taken care of for your. The limited time you have at home should be spent eating fantastic cooking, snuggling with Mamaw and getting caught up on your rest.

Whew, I use Zenni Optical online. Bendable titanium frame, frameless, progressive lenses, anti scratch...$75.
Prescription reading glasses....$12

They work well but then again I don't have a a crazy type prescription.

You fill in an online form, email it in. That is then sent over to Hong Kong where they are made, shipped back to California then to your address. Takes about 1 /12 weeks- 2 weeks.

I have no idea what HRHs are - she told me once, but it's rather futile, since i don't yet need glasses or contact lenses, it went right over my head.

I did get her contact lenses from an online chemist, but she hated wearing them (they last a month i think) and said - 'just get me the glasses, because they'll do everything'. There is something very childish in putting them outside and covering one lens to see how dark the other goes in the sun...but that's how i roll!

Hi all!

Forgive me for not taking/having the time to go back over all the posts I've missed. I just wanted to check in and let you all know that I'm still around, doing ok and also let you know this is one of the more challenging times of my life which is why I've been absent. I'll probably be absent for a bit longer but y'all are in my heart and mind. And I'll be back.
