Hey Fleet
Here's 2 for you
Both British bands from the seventies
First one
I WAS ONLY 17, FELL IN LOVE WITH A GYPSY QUEEN
Second one
STANDING ON A STATION WAITING FOR A TRAIN
No clues yet, see how you do
Frank

As far as the second one there are many songs with similar lyrics, such as "waiting at a station, waiting for a train" from a song called Firin' Line by Frankie Miller. Or Chris de Burgh's "Borderline" with I'm standing in the station, I am waiting for a train. Too many options.... I'll have to pass on that one

Here's another for you Fleet
Name the original lineup of THE WHO
FRANK

From memory I couldn't tell you. But you have me at a slight disadvantage. Since I've had ECT my long term memory has gaping holes in it.

The game attached to the lyrics under my banner has some specific rules: one, the artist is given, a line from the lyrics is given, no googling but using you tube is ok. In fact, the song and artist must be able to be found on you tube. The purpose of the game was to introduce people to music they might not have heard before (it all is in my collection but I have very little top 40 stuff) and to provide a solvable puzzle, and that's only if they want to learn of new music and like puzzles. Generally if a day goes by and if no one gets it I'll give another clue and will continue to do so until somebody figures it out. Lady Kay was an exception as she challenged me to find an Elvis song she wouldn't know. So I did. :)

So far I know one person, HappyHooligan, has gone out and bought an album from an artist I introduced him to, he liked him that much. And I can pretty much guarantee he never would have heard of him without the game.

I know you've not been around for a while, understandably so, so I just wanted to fill you in on what I was doing. It was more a puzzle with music you may like at the end as opposed to a music trivia type game. Me, I'm terrible with trivia :)

1952 Vincent Black Lightning from Rumor and Sigh, got you again Fleet!!

Hello Everyone Just dropping in, Hope everyone's Monday didn't suck too badly!

Guess I fall into the New Face Category, Only been Causing trouble in Reoville for a couple weeks.

Hooligan aka Smiley

Good Job Smiley!

I don't think you got me though. I'm not trying to stump anyone, just maybe open some new horizons  And some folks just like puzzles. Those who like music and puzzles can have some fun! That particular song was always played by one particular band at a biker bar I used to live at. And if they didn't, well I'd bug 'em enough to make sure they did. Richard Thompson is a very good guitarist. He uses some open funky kind of tuning on that one and he's at home on electric or acoustic.

Did you like the song?

I'll have to give it a search and listen. I'm used to having alternative music radio stations where ever I've lived the last 40 years. Don't have anything like that where I'm at now which is a shame. It's how I got exposure to so much good stuff that no one else would play. I don't reckon I'll be here forever though and hopefully will move somewhere with a better music scene.

yes I did and it Sounds like a good fit for a biker bar!

version I found was only him and guitar. That odd tuning works pretty good.

And as a fan of both music and Puzzles I am enjoying the game.

Hooligan

Cool! It's on a couple of his albums but I've never heard a version where it wasn't just him and his acoustic. For a song with lyrics somewhat in the same vein but musically more country-ish (and I don't mean top 40 country) check out "The Road Goes on Forever (And the Party Never Ends) by Robert Earl Keen. It's a pretty cool song. There were a number of artists (singer/songwriters) that came out of Texas a whiles back. You'd find them working on each others albums and I had the pleasure of seeing a whole bunch of them at an outdoors concert/BBQ Festival in Tampa one year. They weren't part of the old guard at all. Robert Earl Keen was one of them and I enjoy a lot of his stuff.

The part of Canada that doesn't get enuf Snow :(
Good evening everyone. Well I'm reeling. Dora blew Her ACL in her back leg. All tolled it's gonna be about $2700 to fix it and they can't even do it as yet because she is so young her growth plates in her knees haven't fused yet. So it's gonna be several months before they can even operate :(.

Sorry to hear about your pooch, Justice. Hope vet will be able to take care sooner than he thinks.

Fleet, I do like the old country so much more than what they call country today, and Keen has that sound. Even though I didn't find the song you recommended yet.
Once again good stuff my Friend, Thanks.

Hello all. My name's Dan. I lurk because I dont have a REO yet.
Darrell just wanted to say my pti/whippet mix, Ginger, blew her ACL last summer. I was crushed because they told me $2-3k to repair. I thought where am I gonna get the money (I had just replaced my furnace/AC a few weeks earlier for a little over $3k)? well, I scrapped it up & im so happy I did. (ran closer to $2k). afterwards she was almost as good as new. She could tear around the yard like what. relatively short heal time too. Sadly, I must say, my beloved Ginger passed about a month ago from liver cancer.
