This is a great thread, lots of useful tips and tricks. I finally have my Tobeco v2 clone purring nicely.

However, I pulled a bonehead move and dropped it on concrete -- it actually escaped any major damage, but the PMMA middle tank section cracked its threading beyond repair. Does anyone know where I might be able to find a replacement? fasttech doesn't carry one despite several users submitting requests for one, going back a month or two. The SS section is totally fine but I really like being able to see the juice level (and the sexy factor too).

Thank you very much. Makes sense that the original designer would sell replacement parts, I should have figured that out. It'll cost me more to replace this one part than I paid for the entire thing but it's worth it.

Yeah..for this price get a brand new clone and you'll end up with 2 roses. Personally I prefer the look of the entirely SS rose. I just keep one of my 2 roses with the plastic part because it makes it easier to tell which is which when I'm alternating between juices.

Interesting review. I've never had any of my Roses gurgle or whistle. In fact I think they are among the quietest attys I have. I also don't completely uncrew the chimney when I fill. I just put it upside down in the stand and unscrew the base. And the funnel stays where I had it so when I put the base back on, the JC is where I had it. At least he noticed it has much better flavor than the Kayfun.

None of mine whistle either , I've tried all kinds of builds in mine and no trouble with gurgling either , I also generally run mine at .7 ohms on my mechs and I don't find them easy to overpower , in fact the exact opposite . I have gone as low as .3 with 24ga Gplat and no burnt taste , might be the juice he's vaping .

This was the comment I left on Phil's review on his Youtube page:

Thank you for the review Phil. I'm surprised you didn't get to it any sooner though. A few quick points from a Rose fan based on my experience with the atty for a couple of months now: 1. The Rose is a very versatile atomizer; you can have a dual coil build and you should try it with a vertical coil build too. 2. IMO the regular Rose V.2 is better than the stumpy version when it comes to the heat issue since it has a longer DT and a longer top part. 3. The throat hit is a function of the height of the coil from the bottom of the build deck or the ceramic cup. Push your coil and wick down a tad bit (without touching the airflow tube of course) and you'll get a much smoother throat hit, and an even stronger flavor. 4.You are absolutely right the ceramic cup adds to the flavor simply by reducing the volume of the vaporization chamber hence further condensing the vapor. 5. Gurgling has to do with wicking; in specific with how much wick you have and the wick placement in the 4 slots. These slots have to be filled with cotton in order not to allow excess juice to seep inside the vaporization chamber. If it floods the chamber it will gurgle, and if the liquid level is higher than the airflow tube it will leak. That's why the third wicking method you used worked fine (alternatively you might want to try the second build and fold the excess cotton back in the same slot it came from and have the cotton flush with the chamber). Also if your wick is not thick enough to fill and make contact with the coil properly some of the liquid will not vaporize and it will gurgle and spit. I wouldn't use a 3 mm drill bit and would rather use a 2 mm and not exceed a 2.5 mm diameter for my coil with the rose. I found this gives me just the right amount of cotton for the 4 slots, but that's a personal preference

Great email. Those were exactly the points I would have made :)

I use 70/30 liquid and never experience gurgling either, and I pretty much leave the juice control fully open (lots of cotton). I don't know if the ceramic cup makes any difference in that regard as I've never used it.

I occasionally experience some popping on a fresh build, but it mellows out in a day or two. Actually that seems to have disappeared altogether now that I'm really packing the coil with cotton.

the real difference with the V2-S is they moved the top o ring from the chimney to the upper cap. that's why they originally needed to leave the top cap so ridiculously thick, so it can have an oring surface from fully closed to open since the oring went up and down with the chimney. moving it to the cap allowed then to make the top much thinner.

since thinning my top cap the rose has been my favorite tank hands down, nothing can touch it for me. only reason pbussardos having so much gurgling is cause he's leaving the wick stick out past the bell cap end, this forces the wick down to the bottom of the slot when the juice is closed off and leaves the top of the slot open even when te juice control is opened again, if he tucked the wicks flush with the threads before screwing the bell on it would kinda build a wall of wick, completely eliminating his problem with the gurgle.

The only gurgling I get is after filling up the tank. I've tried both from the bottom and the top and get pretty much the same result, gurgling for the first 1/4th of the tank or so. Actually, filling up from the bottom got really messy the one time I tried it, lol... so I've been doing it from the top since then. Is there any trick to preventing this from happening? I've been screwing down the juice flow control ring to the closed position prior to filling but I still get a little gurgle afterwards. I've removed the "ceramic" cup (I have a suspicion mine is plastic) but don't think that makes any difference when it comes to the dreaded gurgle.

Use the stand when you fill. Put it in upside down, unscrew the base. You can move the funnel aside a little. Don't overfill; a little less than the bottom of the funnel. Then screw the base back on and it should be fine.

If you top fill, close the JC and airflow first. Invert it for that last turn of the top cap. Then open the afc and leave inverted for 20-30s. Then vape a couple of times before opening the JC back up.
