The Sabbath

Questions for those that still observe the Sabbath:
Do you prepare any food on that day, i.e. make yourself a cup of coffee? Heat up water?
Do you participate in any creative activities? i.e. knitting, painting, needlepoint?
Do you carry anything out of your house?
Do you visit any restuarants, stores, movie theaters, etc?
Do you light your fireplace, stove, etc....
If you do any of these, you have failed to keep the Sabbath.

That's not what Jesus said. I"m not talking about The Law, I'm talking about the 10 commandments.
Easy. Genesis explains God's view of the sabbath, on that day He rested. He wrote the 10 commandments, and those commandments still stand today as far as I'm concerned. Yes, Jesus summed them up, but He did not dismiss them, ever. He also didn't say that we are not still obligated to keep them, in fact I think He told us to keep them.
The old law's view is insanity, full of specific do's and don'ts that caused alot of trouble and grief for people. I believe that Jesus observed it as a special day of rest and holy things that bring glory to God, like personal study, prayer, worship or whatever........up to each one as his own mind decides as it's between that person and God, not a bunch of rules and restrictions, but more a day to give thanks and rest as a blessing from God to His people.
Atleast, that's how I understand it to be.
Some things to ponder:
If the Sabbath is in force, why not keep all of the law concerning the Sabbath?
If the Sabbath is still binding, why do we not find the Sabbath commanded in the New Testament like we find all of the others of the Ten Commandments? (The principles of all other nine commandments are found in the New Testament but with a different penalty)
1st. You shall have no other gods before Me - Eph 4:6; 1 Cor 8:6; Acts 14:15.
2nd. You shall not make for yourself any carved image - 1 Jn 5:21; Rev 21:8.
3rd. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain - Mt 5:34; 12:36; Jas 5:12.
4th. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy - ?????.
5th. Honor your father and your mother - Eph 6:1,2; Col 3:20.
6th. You shall not murder - 1 Jn 3:15; Rev 21:8; 1 Pet 4:15.
7th. You shall not commit adultery - Mt 5:27,28; 1 Cor 6:9,10.
8th. You shall not steal - Eph 4:25-28; 1 Cor 6:10.
9th. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor - Eph 4:25; Col 3:9; Rev 21:8.
10th. You shall not covet - 1 Cor 6:10; Col 3:5; Eph 5:3.
If the Sabbath is still binding then why not observe the Sabbath year? - Ex 23:10-12.
If the Sabbath is observed because Jesus observed it, then why not observe all the other commands Jesus observed? - The feasts, etc.
Since there are twenty-one epistles in the New Testament telling Christians how to live and worship, why is there not one command to keep the Sabbath?
In Acts 15 there was a council concerning circumcision. This would have been a perfect place for God to make known the Sabbath to Christians. Why didn't He?
The only time the Sabbath is mentioned, in the doctrinal epistles of the New Testament, it is forbidden. (Col 2:16,17; etc.)
Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of a feast day or a new moon or a sabbath day: which are a shadow of the things to come; but the body is Christ’s.

One thing that might help is to realize that the 10 Commandments are not separate from the Law. They are the Law... just the beginning of it. But the law is one law. The whole law. And doesn't scripture say... If you have broken one law, you have broken them all.
I was praying that she'd get that when I asked how to separate the commandments from the law. She'll get there....just gotta sort out all the info.
The way I see it is if you feel you're incorrect on which ever day you worship, worship and rest on both Shabbot and Sunday. That way, you're covered! That's what I told a friend of mine who agreed on this one aspect that the 7th Day Adventists were correct in this. We got into heated discussions over this. It wasn't pretty. We wound up saying, "Well fine!" and the other would say, "Fine!" So we were fine!
"Well we're fine then!"
