About 15 years ago my family finally got me to stop smoking in the house (they complained for years, but I gave in for them).

I thought it was so inconvenient to have to go outside - especially during the winter (bbbbbrrrrrrrr). Well, now I know why they wanted it so bad. I have two friends that still smoke in their house and over the last couple of weeks I have visited them both. I used to visit them all the time and never had a problem - shoot I would join them and light up, but on these trips everything had changed - the smell hit me as soon as I walked into the door and was very hard to get over during the entire stay...

Sure opened my eyes a lot... Gives me extra strength in making sure I never go back.:2cool:

I pick my fiancee up from work often. There is an outside smoking area close to the door she exits. If there are more than 2 smokers outside while I'm waiting I can smell the smoke INSIDE THE CAR WITH THE WINDOWS UP!!

I really decided to quit smoking when she and I started staying together at her house, which is a non-smoking home. On occaision, I would have a smoke upstairs in the bedroom. ;) After a week or so, I could smell the smoke outside the bedroom in the upstairs hallway. It was gross. I was embarassed. I started vaping. It's all good, now! :)

This was one thing I didn't see coming:

After smoking for 30 years I was surprised how quickly I could not stomach the smell of cigarette smoke after I quit. It makes me nauseous to be walking behind someone with a lit cigarette on the street even.

One day I was on a bus and sat down next to someone who just reeked of that "saturated into everything" stale smoke smell. Every inch of everything she had - clothes, back pack, jacket, hat... - must have been saturated with cigarette smoke. I wanted to get up and move. (But I didn't...)

I think part of the intial shock also comes with the return of our sense of smell and taste...today I had a mcgriddle today, and I get a mcgriddle every week on thursday...today I had the most delicious mcgriddle, and I thought omg, they finally di it right, I need to shake the hand of the person who made this amazing sandwhich....I think he took the time to spread butter on it....then I realized that my coke also tasted amazing...and oh what a mcgriddle, I could pick out all the flavours, it was deeeeeeelllicious...hmmm...I forgot what this thread was about...right smoke...yeah it smells, but I really only hate it when a person just has one, comes inside and sits beside me and I can smell it "fresh" off their clothes...

This!
But also this:

Yea, but we do not want to turn into one of those smoker haters - usually ex-smokers are the worst type and I never want to go there. I have been where they are and will convert as many as I can - so far 2...

I've been analog-free for 8 days now, and I'm extremely happy. I loved smoking analogs for 22 years, and I'll never turn my back on that. It was a big part of my life. Smoking was a huge part of my life and my identity: amazing memories of things that happened to me, good and bad, have me as a smoker as part of them.

I've just moved on to something better.

Can you "convert" anyone? I look forward to trying. The only way to convert is by being happy. Not realising this is the BIG mistake the anti-smoking lobby have always made.

And what does smoking, or vaping, do for you anyway? I'm not sure.... since I have nothing further intelligent to say, here's some music:

Funkadelic - I Wanna Know If It's Good To You - YouTube

Happy vaping! :vapor:

Honestly, I think that with all the extra crap that goes into analogs these days they smell worse than they did 20+ years ago.

I had a pal 20 years ago, she and I used to stay up all night watching movies, videos, etc., drinking pots of coffee, and going through our B&H ("lights") like they were nothin.

I always noticed the smell on my clothes, but for some reason it didn't smell as bad as it did to me before I quit analogs for good 2 years ago.

Yes, it's a very bad habit. Yes I am forever thankful that I found my way to e-cigs. However, I can tell the difference between the "smoke" smell of someone who hand rolls, or say... the smell of a Djarum vs. someone who chain smokes M'bro reds or Newports.

I know what you mean. My wife still does both, and I can't be in the room when she's smoking a cig, tried smoking one once after quitting, put it in my mouth and couldn't light it, stunk too bad unlit even. If I can get rid of my pv at some point I'm gonna be a smoker hater I can see it coming. Pretty ironic.

This reminds me... I never realized until recently that potatoes have a flavor! They aren't just a vehicle for melted butter or milk or salt or pepper or sauces. Man, I can taste those taters and the earthiness is divine.

as for the smell... I still live with 2 smokers, and I need to move out. I have constant headaches, my clothing still carries a bit of odor, and I hide in my bedroom much of the time I am home. I do feel embarrassed that I smelled horrible for 19 years.

Went out to dinner tonight to celebrate a friends acceptance into graphic design...really I just wanted to taste out my new buds...I ordered fish and chips, but also tried some lobster...(I didn't want to be out 35 bucks, fish and chips was the cheapest thing, gotta buy juice ya know)...and honestly, I have developped the worst eating habits...I kept trying to force myself to dip the fries in the ketchup, or the lobster in the butter...because that's what you do...the whole meal was waaaaayyy to salty...I think the part I enjoyed the most, was the caesar salad...I loved the crisp crunchy juicy lettuce, with the nice aroma, the hints of a dash of cheese, and thank god they didn't pile on the dressing, but a nice light even coat...it was scrumptious. I think we spend so much time trying training ourselves to enjoy every hint, flavour and note of our e-juice, that I'm going to have to rethink the way I eat entirely...I am loving the new taste buds, it's like trying everything new for the first time...
