this covers pretty much what i was talking about in my post (a few down)... a greater juice to coil surface area to better the flavor... i only wish i could tolerate the flavor of cotton wicking... ugghhh...

If you don't like the flavor of cotton you're burning it. Even lightly singed cotton is a horrid taste, but when done right taste better than anything else I've tried. Also all different types of cotton have completely different properties and different coil preferences for optimumal results. Try cotton batting/balls/gauze as it is the most absorbent and the easiest I've used.

I am going to try this. I am getting no love from my genesis tanks. The throat hits are just devastating for some reason. I was hoping by now I would see someone else who had tried this.

here goes nothing

I always trying to get more, solid throat hit from my gennys, all nine of mine are generally too smooth after a few puffs.
This mini coil has my interest aroused, but I see many burnt wicks in the future.
Interested to hear anyone's experience though. :)

I just built a "Spin-E" coil on my modded Vivi Nova head. Wrapped it around a paperclip, set in there so it's just poking above the bottom of the hole, and then laid a new cotton wick on top of it.

Now if I want to change wicks I can just remove the rubber cap, pull the old wick off the coil, and lay a new one on top! No more recoiling! It's working quite well so far, the cotton expands enough to make full contact with the coil.

The only real change I've noticed is the flavor is just slightly muted, as the Koolada in this juice isn't hitting me as strong. In this case that's a win-win as I added too much to this mix. This could also be due to my overzealous number of coil wraps.

I'm definitely going to have to experiment more with this in the Vivi Nova, this coil has about 6 wraps, and gets blindingly bright with 4v at 1.6Ω

I've been using this for a couple days now in my Phoenix with cotton wicks, and I've had no burning issues that I wouldn't have had with a normal coil (Juice well dries up and I'm not paying attention).

Even though you may be hesitant to try this setup/method after you try it you will see how innovative and unique it performs. One of the best setups for cotton in a did clone, two words... fog machine.

I got the best results by wrapping a thinner rw (33awg kanthal) coil around the thinnest sewing needle I have. Threading a long cotton (round) wickaround the positive post between the coil and down the wick hole.

When i posted the spin-e coil else where someone told me I basically turned my did clone into a cartomizer. Well I guess that is some what correct, at least with the basic principal.
Nice diagram! I'd say that's a somewhat accurate description. Though this method gives us the (widely sought after?) "rebuildable cartomizer".

I know in my quest of "chasing the vape dragon" this brings me one step closer to perfection, I now only rebuild a coil when it gets gunked up, instead of every single time I change out my vivi/phoenix wicks.
