The switch is happening faster than I thought it would.

You might need to bump up your nicotine level in the juices. I found that just a couple of mg more made a real difference. I even find that some parts of the day I like a higher nic content than others, and a higher nic level will REALLY help with a craving. About two weeks in I had couple of brief cravings that went away with a higher juice.

I'm already on 24, and I'm not sure if it's safe to move up. What do you think? I was a pack and a half a day Camel Filter 99/Seneca Menthol 100s (A Newport-type cigarette) smoker.

Hmmm....maybe not. I'm sure it's probably safe but I don't know where you'd get stuff between 24 and 36 without making your own.

To be honest, I think I'm using it more than I really need to. The excitement and novelty is a factor. I might just slow down a bit once it becomes more normalized for me. It's just nice to be able to vape in the presence of my family. When I was a full smoker, I had to go to my office and open the window, which led to a lot of isolation and near chain smoking.

That will slow down as it stops being a focal point in your life and just fades into the background like cigarettes did. Don't worry about it.

This is a long one, sorry. :D

I've tried e-cigs before. Years ago, I bought a $100 kit that used cartridges and had parts that only worked with that particular device. This was a few years back, before they really started catching on. It had an automatic switch, and it was all black, with the form factor of something like a 100 mm cigarette.

I was highly disappointed. I've been a pack and a half a day smoker since around 1998 (Camel Filters, and lately Menthols), and those little cartridges couldn't satisfy me. It didn't help that my kit was defective, and one of the two batteries it came with never worked at all. So I was stuck in a cycle of vaping it like a fiend until the battery ran out, waiting while the battery charged, and so on until the atomizer fried, only I didn't know that it was going to fry because the site I bought it from never mentioned that it would.

Basically, I got ripped off. I didn't expect it to be just like a cigarette, but I expected that for $100 it would work.

So a few years passed, and as time went on I decided that I'd never quit smoking, and accepted that I'd die young. This mentality actually led to other stupid health decisions, which I'm now working on reversing. I'm on course to reverse my recent diagnosis of Diabetes, for example. The doctor thinks it might happen within a year.

With New York State cigarette taxes being so punitive, buying cigarettes was getting prohibitively expensive, so I started going to the local reservation to buy smokes for $20 a carton. I went a few weeks ago with $200 and bought my usual 8 cartons (8 weeks worth) for $160. Afterwards I remembered a thread on vaping on a gaming forum I frequent, and checked out a nearby headshop. With the cash I had on hand, I had to buy their cheapest model, an EGO-K/CE4, which I'm pretty sure is just a generic. In my excitement, I bought a bottle of their plain tobacco juice (RW Vapor's Red Box) rather than a menthol as I would have preferred. Either way, I was on my way. I figured I could try vaping again and if I liked it, invest more of my nicotine budget the next time I ran out of cigarettes.

Even with the cheap clearomizer that came with the device, I liked it. It turned out that the clearomizer was a bit faulty, and I had to twist it while pushing the button to get it to a rotation where it would work, but it was definitely better than my first device. At one point I had to take a break because the nicotine gave me a headrush. I also liked how my family was more welcoming and accepting of my vaping than the smoking. I was hooked.

Eventually, the clearomizer stopped working altogether, but I was able to pull the post (which I won't do again for a while after learning a bit more about when and why you might need to) and get it working. Then it crapped out completely. I was panicked, and I posted here.

Everyone was very helpful, especially Wildflowers69, who lives in my area, and knew of the only vape shop in the immediate area, which just happens to be around the corner from where I live. I never would have driven by it, because all of the things I usually need are in the other direction. I never would have thought to Google "Rochester Vape Shops" because I didn't think such things existed in my area.

They set me up with a new KangerTech Evod which gives me as much vapor as a cigarette gave me smoke. It also works flawlessly every time. I've finally found a sustainable vape. Don't get me wrong, I will be buying bigger and better stuff, I'm just happy that something "just works".

Today I got some new menthol juice, and it's great.

All of this leads to my current situation. I've found that I prefer vaping to smoking. I've been relying on the device more and more, and wanting a cigarette less and less. Today I've only had four cigarettes, and the last one only because my battery is charging. The rest were pretty much out of habit, and the result of some of my triggers being set off. They all tasted awful.

This left me with a problem which I think I'm on my way to solving. I (had) six cartons of cigarettes in my closet, but all I want to do is vape. My cigarette budget has been spent, so I'd be forced to smoke them, unless...I sold some of them.

So that's exactly what I'm doing. I talked to a neighbor whose girlfriend smokes my brand, and if all goes well, he's going to take four out of five of the cartons off my hands for what I paid for them tomorrow. He took one right away. As an aside, I let him take a hit off of my device, and he is very interested in getting one at some point. I may have made a convert. :D

I'm keeping one carton for emergencies and the weaning process. I'll use the cash to get at least one more battery, another tank, and an atomizer for dripping from my local store, and to order some e-liquids online.

I'm happy with the decision. Thanks for reading!

TL;DR: I like vaping so much I'm selling my stockpile of cigarettes to help me buy vaping supplies.

Shouldn't have turned your neighbor on to vaping so quickly; now he won't want to buy your cigs. LOL
