Ok I am stumped, I recently bought a GG slim, its a 10440 battery for those of you not familiar with it, anyway it hasnt gotten here but I see on the battery the mah is rated at 600 which is plenty high enough for a LR atty, but then the subtext always says the real mah is only 280, so can I use a LR with a 10440 battery or no? I dont want to fry or use anything dangerous by trying it out i was hoping one of you much more brave people had tried it and can advise.

Real mAh is going to be close to 300 for most 10440's. If it is protected you should be safe from explosion. Using the LR atty on a that battery will most likely cause the battery to wear quicker. You will also experience some voltage sag.
I've run LR's on a protected 10440 before with no safety issues. Performance was lousy though.
