I've now looked extensively at the Prodigy, the GG, the SD, and the as-yet unreleased Silver Bullet. The GG was on the right track, they just put the button on the wrong end. The Silver Bullet seems to have grasped true convenience in putting the button on the top, and on the end near your mouth, so your index finger can depress it.

I can't really fathom how they felt a button on the bottom was ergonomic. It may be usable, but ergonomic I'd not say.

Perhaps not intuitive but it really is comfortable and easy to use in that location. Whatever you decide, enjoy :)

people that use one all like it... its one of those strange things that dosnt seem the obvious choice.. but in reality works out better than what does seem the obvious choice..

trog, I'd love to know how you decided on that button placement. I just find it really interesting.

It seems logical in a rudimentary pressing the contact to the battery sort of way, but outside of that it doesn't seem like it would have been your first choice.

Mine should be here today or tomorrow, so I am only assuming here, but I can tell you that with the whistle tip cartridges, if the button is on the device itself, its hard to line up properly all the time. I have a 510 and I only use manual batteries (LOTS AND LOTS of them) and prefer the whistle tip carts, but am constantly fidgeting with it to get them lined up with the button on top correctly.

The button on the front of the SD makes more sense to me ergonomically, but there is one issue that I don't like. It should have a lock, or a pin, or something for when you store it in your pocket or bag. I know people say you can just twist out the atty a bit, but thats a workaround. I don't know what supplier might have one, but I have seen buttons out there that if you twist them a half turn, they lock either up or down. This would increase safety tremendously. If that won't work, maybe a cap for travelling to stop it from being pressed.

Just thoughts....

Hey Uptown....

I have one of the TW SD's also. In addition, I have a GG, a Prodigy, and a Janty Stick. All of them are good in their own right. It just comes down to personal prefference. As odd as it seems, the feel and ergonomic placement of the switch on the SD is quite nice! I too, thought it would be akward, but I was wrong. The entire feel of the unit is solid and very plesant. To the best of my knowlege, Trog makes no extravagent claims as to quantity of vapor or anything like that. Battery life is the key here. With frequent use, and I mean REAL frequent use, a battery will last me all day, no problem. He has definately addressed that issue. It is true that it can and will fire off in your pocket if your not careful, but simply removing the atty will solve that issue. If you're looking at the SD to produce ungodly quantities of vapor, or make coffee for you in the morning, it's not gonna do that. What it will do, is give you a good consistant quality vape all day long.
Hope this helps!

That's for the info BM52. What I'm mostly looking for in my next purchase is a unit that's comfortable to use, has a battery that lasts a long time, will take carts that hold more than my 4081, and is easy to transport.

The SD sounds like it addresses most of those issues. The having to take it apart to put it in your pocket and go is a little disconcerting, but at the moment the other options on the market seem to be the same. I'm just not sure yet, and still researching.

And of course, I'm fortunate to have found one of the best places to do that in this site.

Perhaps in years to come there will be retail stores that carry these things, and you can walk in and hold it in your hand and really be able to decide what feels the most comfortable for you personally. We can only hope right?

Who has one? What do you think? In checking it out, and reading up what I could find, I really like it. And I'm pretty sure I want one. I'm anxious to talk to some people that are using it regularly.

Anything info you can provide would be helpful!

Hey UptownRiot:

If you have not already found them, here are few reviews with some good information for you.

Because I have small hands, I find it easier to cup the SD with the button in my palm and my fingers around the indentation where the battery houseing meets the atomizer connector. Pulling down presses the button. Using it this way really is ergonomic as the indentation is exactly where my fingers naturally land.

I use the pinky method as well, depending upon the looks I am getting from passers by.

experimentation riot.. side switches sound good but most are not big enough to handle the daily grind.. the SD switch is rated at 1.5 amps 110 volts..

our first choice believe it or not was the traditional at the time auto switch..

lets say we struck lucky with what we ended up with.. part good design judgment part luck.. we did make the first ones for our for our own use.. even if we never sold any we would still be using them..

siimple thinking.. if it works for us it should work for most folks like us.. but i will say it isnt like we first planned.. that was an over and under type thing.. atomizer running along the top of an AA sized battery.. we just never got around to making it..

The button on the bottom is very ergonomic. It actually gives you a variety on how to hold it, and finger placement.
I drip a lot, I find often liquid will run to one side of the atomizer. Not a problem with the SD, just rotate it to maintain proper wicking. Your finger position is always in a center "neutral" position with the Screw Driver button.
Sometimes I use my pinky finger... sometimes my ring finger. The ability to switch is nice to have. Heck, sometimes I even use my upper palm, under my "trigger" finger, and smoke it like a pipe!

Can I find pictures of those early models somewhere? That would be real fun to see. :p
