Who are the Two Witnesses? When will they Appear?

Who are the Olive Tree and the Lampstand [candlesticks]?

Israel was God's 'witness' to the world in Old Testament times and the Church is God's 'witness' to the world in New Testament times. The two witnesses are not persons; they are:

Israel AND The Church! - (Side by Side we declare the Glory of God & His Gospel everyday, in Israel and around the World! The Anti-Christ will HATE these Witnesses (both Jew & Christian).. Gee, imagine that, Israel and the Church hated by the World... and they will hate & reject our Messiah. Revelation states the Beast will effectively 'kill' the Witnesses in the last days.. We will appear to be finally put down.

Elijah and Moses seem to be popular choices. However, scripture doesn't say WHO they will be only that there will be TWO of them, not two groups of people. I don't remember seeing in scripture that their heads will be removed only that there bodies will lie in Jerusalem for 3 days before they come back to life and ascend into heaven. Any person or group of people claiming that
the 2 witnesses are Israel and the church are likely to be amillennial.

I watched the video. It's amazing how people will take Bible verses out of context and only the ones that they want to use and twist them to "prove" their viewpoint. I find in Rev. 11:

8 Their bodies will lie in the public square of the great city—which is figuratively called Sodom and Egypt—where also their Lord was crucified. 9 For three and a half days some from every people, tribe, language and nation will gaze on their bodies and refuse them burial. 10 The inhabitants of the earth will gloat over them and will celebrate by sending each other gifts, because these two prophets had tormented those who live on the earth.

11 But after the three and a half days the breath of life from God entered them, and they stood on their feet, and terror struck those who saw them. 12 Then they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, “Come up here.” And they went up to heaven in a cloud, while their enemies looked on.

Aside from the scriptures specifically saying two prophets, I doubt seriously that all of Israel and the entire true church would be able to lie in the public square of Jerusalem for 3 days. (BTW, I don't find any record in scripture saying that they will be beheaded. And even though Elijah and Moses are popular guesses, scripture doesn't actually tell us that that's who it will be.)

Yes, I agree with all of you... while this Video really BLESSED me, because I love the 'idea' and 'concept' that the Nation of Israel and the Christian Body are ONE in these last days, and WE are both under direct Satanic Assault & persecution in these last days, I do believe (as all of you pointed out) that the 'two witnesses' are two actual persons (with physical bodies).

I can show you an actual physical Man who claims HE is one of those 2 Witnesses... I don't know if he truly is or not.. I believe he believes it.. (lol) He has a FREE Book I read also.. if you all want to check him out you can here; About Ronald Weinland | Ronald Weinland

This is exactly what Scripture forewarns us about Chimney!... and exactly 'why' we have to be so cautious in these last days.. the 'Doctrines of Demons' are everywhere.. and they are infused with 'warm fuzzies' and gooey loving kindness.... exactly the 'kind' Christians are 'encouraged' and 'expected' to walk in... (lol)

I agree, Saints. I usually check out a video or an article before I post it online. If it contains teachings by a false prophet or information that distorts the word, I don't want to be guilty of propagating it. When we also post information by "date setters", and the date comes and goes, that it spoils our witness. There are reasons why God did not give a date for the rapture, the beginning of the tribulation, or the second coming. (I won't go into those right now.) But non-believers think that we know the Bible and when Christians set a date that doesn't turn out to be incorrect they have further "evidence" to doubt or ridicule the Bible.

Ok, I just watched the video. It was pretty good. I too always heard that it would be 2 people, Moses and Elijah, and I just accepted that as fact and I've never looked into it. I read the Left Behind series, and pretty took that for the truth.........lol.

But, I would be interested in researching it more. Can someone point to the scriptures that say moses and elijah? Let's dig into this and see. Its a very interesting topic, and I'd like to learn more and find out about it. I know very little about this stuff.

I have not watched the video yet, but I have considered this also. The OT and NT Saints are an uninterrupted witness for God for the last 4000 years. As Chimney pointed out though, the Bible does not clarify it, we will just have to wait and see.

It is fun to contemplate the possibilities though.

There are no scriptures that give the names of the 2 witnesses. This is just a common guess. Some say that it will be Enoch and Elijah since they did not die but were raptured immediately into heaven. Others says that it will be Moses and Elijah (who represent the law and the prophets). They're all good guesses, but that's what they are--guesses.

How does scripture support it? The video left out the part where the bodies of the two prophets would lie in the public square of Jerusalem for 3 days. How could all of Israel and the entire church lay in the entire city of Jerusalem at any time, much less in the "public square"?
