Hey, do you thin your juice to match the fluid that came with the wiz or make it thinner? I got me a hose hooked up to this thing to give it a try.

Yes, Make it thin. Oh and if your running on batteries you have to hold the button for a bit until it gets to temperature, then very slowly press down. You are using that mini that I sent you right? If you have a Wizard thenoperation is similar except you won't have to wait as long and the vapor is about 50 times what that little guy makes.

You know you really want a Wizard now don't you.:D

Hey everyone
Back in the flow of things was out of it for a few days . Pain pills and nausea and insomnia . Then being trussed up like a thanks giving turkey. Has had me captive .I had to re read the post just to get back in the swing of things and feel half way informed . 8-o
lets start
PHP:
About the thin-walled ceramic tubes, all I could find were companies that will do quotes for huge lots of product. So, probably in the prototype stage (and possibly forever and ever, amen), glass is the way to go.
Surfvortex
I have found a company that will send thin wall ceramic tubing in lots of a thousand units for like $26.50 which is .0265 a unit I think 1000 is the min they will also make different sizes for different prices but seems cheap enough for me will send address to contact if you want . ;)

Nico-glad to hear you got one of these, hope the explanation to Mrs. Nico went well....
Welcome to the thread Scuba and Trader, I hope you will find it as inspiring as I have!

:Dthanks guys for allowing in the group I am inspired by all the work that going on here ;)
I
think its inspirational to all peeps vaping and wanting a better way to do so .

Hey Dan, good to see you back at it again. I know the feeling and got the 6 inch gash on my back to show for it. The pain I would not wish on my worst enemy. I have been on 80mg/day of OC for about 5 years now so I am used to that. The pain you never get used to.

Yeah, Charged was kind enough to send me a few toys to shut me up for a while and stop asking him so many questions. LOL

Take it slow and easy Dan.

Hey TDan, glad to hear you're on the mend! Like Nico said, slow and easy is the way to go! Yes, would love to get contact info for the co. making the tiny tubes. Thanks!

No damage to carpets(thanks,C), and will report on de-clog process/progress when the stars and vinegar align again (have to go look like I'm working for the next few days....). I think at this point,I'm the only one with a severely clogged Wizard?

Hey, Nico! Go getcha one of the 'Big Ones'!:D

Hey welcome back traderdan.
Glad to hear your somewhat better. Hope the recovery goes quickly. We've been playing and Scubabatdan is doing some good stuff. The more the merrier.:D

Finally got my ship notice today for the glass I ordered.:)

Came up with a couple ideas on power control but think they are a bit cost prohibitive. Easiest and least expensive is using a processor but that would not allow most garageshop hacks to accomplish. Another is using analog multiplier in closed loop with pulse width modulation (PWM) as the power control.

I think the Wizard is a prime candidate for power control since there is plenty of room for the electronics in the trigger section. If you could dial in the correct power for the liquid you are using the clog issue could be substantially reduced or eliminated. The major hurdle will be getting the voltage and current supply up high enough to allow some overhead. Will give this a shot over the coming weekend.

I broke out 2 more Wizards. Now I'm scribing dates on them so I can monitor each and make notes as to the performance and changes that occur over time.

Would be nice to get some more comments from others that have taken the Wizard dive. If you have one, just make sure to keep the liquid very thin and allow the heater a few seconds to get up to temperature before slowly pressing the trigger down.

Man..this mini is welded together even though it has a few screws..waaaaa! I tried some juice in it...if you really want to cut back on the nic this is one way.LOL

Did you get your tubing yet C.? I tested this Duran stuff and I think it would work well for the wiz. It transfers the heat extremely well. If your doesn't work out I will send you some if you want...but the smallest I got was .275" OD with a .040" wall.

Nico you have to open the top and seal the front leaving a small hole for airflow. Take another look at the vapor video and you'll see what I mean.

This is the mini video. Multiply this by 50 for the Wizard output. Please note that I was running the mini at 9 volts when it was actually designed for 3.6V.

Hi all,
Had some time today to play.

Wound my heating coil around 1mm ID x 2mm OD fused quartz tubing.

Then slid 3mm ID x 4mm OD over the coil.

coil2.jpg

Completed assembly.

Just a little test. Still have to seal the top of the outside tube. Loosing a lot of heat out of there. Once sealed it should perform much better.

TUBULAR DUDE ! Whats the black stuff? Need some of that mica film around the coil to deflect the heat back to the inner tube. Do you have any of that silicone putty to seal the tube and still be able to pull it apart to clean?

Edit: Strike that...duh...you wont need to clean around the coil.

I'm doing some test today also...BUT...the kids are off today too so I'm spending more time refereeing.

Some of the tech stuff on this flow through design.

17 turns 34 awg nichrome wire.
Total resistance = 9.6 ohms (cold).
Total power = approximately 10 Watts.
10V and 1 Amp.
Measured inside glass maximum temperature = 403 degrees F.
Time to atomize temperature with open top on outside glass 12 seconds.

Hopefully I can get that time to temperature down.
The lower liquid entry side of the glass tube was actually submersed in the e-juice which could be acting as a heat sink and dropping the temperature. I didn't receive my silicone tubing yet. When I do I'll try delivering the liquid through that and the tube should heat much better.

TUBULAR DUDE ! Whats the black stuff?

It's "Rutland Black" high temp stove & gasket cement (ceramic/sodium silicate). It was all I could get my hands on quickly that looked like it would handle the heat.

There is no room inside the large glass tube for any kind of refractory stuff. I had a hard time just getting it over the nichrome wire.

wow been reading through this thread for awhile, I am no atty pro or anything but thats damn cool. this could change the atty world!

I mean i bet this would last a long time compared to the atties e-cigs currently use. as well as no durning taste even since the juice never touches the coil or any metal, no dirty coil problems. this seems to fix all the comman attie probs. so looking forward to the results of your crazy brilliant experiments :D

You figure out a muffler system for that thing C.?

LOL, Nah, If it's tuned correctly it will be quiet and smoooooth. I have some refinements to do. Just wish the crap I ordered would show up.

That was my 1st try. Can't expect perfection on the 1st attempt. Your not suppose to listen to it, your suppose to vape it.:)
