Nice to see your still kicking SV.

Got sidetracked today. One of those things, NEVER I MEAN NEVER fix a persons computer for free....

The self percolating clog fix is in place. I won't be able to give it the test until tomorrow because I have to go out of town for the evening. Don't want it running on it's own while I'm not here to monitor.

If that doesn't do it I don't think anything will. But hey...you can always turn it in to an espresso machine!

Guess we'll never find out if it worked or not.

The ole..lady lifted the percolating wizard out of the vinegar bath while it was heating and burned out the damn heater. I looked at her and said "WHAT THE F%$# YOU DOIN' MESSIN WIT MY CHIT". Then she says... oops, sorry, I just wanted to see what was up in there.:|

Now I'll have to wait and see if I get another clog. Too bad I've been ripping all these apart as I go. I don't think the one I'm using right now will clog. I'll have to break out another and see if it will clog up.

Hey Fellas!
Charged, sorry about the 'fixing a person's computer for free' thing. Sounds like a special brand of purgatory....
I reviewed some of the previous posts, and think that I can do a 'duct tape' version of the percolating clog-fix. Will attempt it tomorrow and post results.

About the thin-walled ceramic tubes, all I could find were companies that will do quotes for huge lots of product. So, probably in the prototype stage (and possibly forever and ever, amen), glass is the way to go.
I love the concept, all juice should stay away from all nichrome...IMO.
And, once more, thanks so much for all of the dissection, pictures, video, and taxedermy...Charged, YOU RULE!!!!

Haha, Duct tape to the rescue. I'm guessing running on batts and duct taping the switch in the on position. Should work for a little while depending on battery mah rating.

I would suggest to pull the fill plug. Get the vinegar level higher than the intake of the metal tube. You may have to press the air plunger button to clear the air trapped up in there, then strategically place your duct tape and see what happens. Thanks SV, looking forward to your results.

I guess if you reuse the fluid its efficient. Mine does more spitting and sputtering than vapor making unless I wire it up to my transformer. Have you tried any e-juice in the mini yet? I may give it a try today...gotta work on taxes and finish my 5v PT if I can fine the right resistor.
Hey...does it matter where the caps go in relation to the regulator...I read they should be close to it but its not like this is a McIntosh amplifier or something.

By the way, I just got an email from a company that's sending me some Duran tubing samples...finally.

Cap placement, for what we are doing with these it's not that big of a deal. You just don't want 1 foot of 30awg wire between the cap and the connection point.

Glad to hear tubing on the way. Not sure what's going on with mine, have not received ship notice yet.:|

Well made one from scratch as a test, it works but when I push too much fluid at it the heater can't keep up and cools down allowing the juice to overflow the heater and runs down the housing. I am going to have to decrease the wire dia, and lengthen the heater total length to keep the ohms in check. I guess I could push more voltage at it. We will see if the longer heating coil works better.

I know this thing look like a pigmey with a long appendiage, but it is actually really small, the whole device not the appendiage :)
Have an idea on wire wrapping so I can forgo the silica shield and make the wraps tigher and more uniform, will post back.

Go Dan!!!

C, when I said 'duct tape' what I meant was 'at a much lower level of technology than you guys have'. So, I had the clogged Wiz upended in a jar of vinegar and turned it on. Just the heater at first, the tiny wire started glowing(!), then I heard strange gurgling sounds, then little bubbles came off the top of the wire-glass and the lead wire itself. Quite an underwater(under-vinegar) show really!
I've been doing that every 15 min. or so thru the day(the tiny wire stopped glowing after the first few times). Again, thought I broke it several times...BUT.... I think it's gonna live!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not sure, but there's enough progress for me to be quite hopeful. Just slow. Gnarly clog.
Then, I punted the jar of vinegar across my floor(accidentally). Why did I have it soaking on the floor?8-oBah! Then bats needed charging. Bah!
Back to the store.....

Are you SURE you cant get PGA up there C.???? LOL

LOL, for me 2 beers is all it takes for my mind to start wandering and my mouth is quick to follow.

Hope that vinegar didn't stain anything SV. Thanks for giving it a try.

I still have no confirmation email for shipping that quartz tubing I ordered.

Tell me about it...only takes one for me. I have only had about a six pack total since I gave it up 13 years ago when my first kid was born. Of course the older they get the more I tend to want/need a few. And to think back 20 years ago me and my buddy were always the last ones standing at parties...looking at each other like...whats next.

Hey, do you thin your juice to match the fluid that came with the wiz or make it thinner? I got me a hose hooked up to this thing to give it a try.
