I tried cleaning a 10 day old atty last night. Got the tap hot and rinsed well, then about 1.5 hours in a pepsi bath swirling here and there. Rinsed in hot water more then set it on papertowel overnight. This morning it does not heat up on battery or passthru but my spare does luckily. Does it sound like I messed up? Perhaps since I'm on well with a softener I should final rinse with purified bottled water?

Hockey, sounds like a thread I read this morning. Pepsi, etc. has sugar in it. That could be the problem. Heat up some purified water in the microwave, then drop in your atty to rinse out.

If you can get EverClear grain alcohol, that will give you a good cleaning and evaporate so you won't have to use water ever again. I use the Crest Pro Health mouthwash as a soak, then put in the Everclear. Blow out the atty and then reprime.

Many attys will be sluggish if you haven't put enough liquid in them or if they are still wet. Try some more e-liquid by dripping on the bridge and letting it soak in for 5 minutes. The first couple of hits can be harsh, so I don't inhale those. Add more liquid as you need to get it going a few drops at a time (you don't say what atty model you are using).

Only 10 days old it should not need to be cleaned in the first place. IMO trying to clean one using any method only makes it worse.

That's exactly my experience too. The two that I have cleaned using different methods don't work worth a crap anymore. This reminds me of the old saying my dad used to say, "If it isn't broke don't fix it!".

Yeah, I can understand that. It was pretty gunked up from me trying (14) different juices. I could see the crud in there even after blowing it out, which I did each day. I also like to maintain stuff to get the most of it I can. I can definitely say that the new atty is bringing back a lot of flavor I can now remember from before but didn't realize I'd lost so much. I'll keep yall posted if I'm able to revive the other one with the suggestions above. Man, I gotta order more attys!!!!

I usually don't clean mine except blowing them and wipe the end connector with a paper towel. I got a wild idea last night to soak all of them a Enclear 190 proof. They are drying right now. I certainly hope I haven't killed them. Most of them are over 2 months old and have never been cleaned.

Please let us know how it turns out! :thumb:

Canned air usually has a bitterant added to it to keep the huffer freaks from getting loaded. If you blow that through an atomizer it will be in it forever and ruin your atomizer.

Not recommended.

A tire pump can produce nice blasts of air. You can find them with a funnel like end as well that an atomizer may fit inside of. I have a small foot run version that I'll get out once in a while. Much better than canned air.

Compressed air from an air compressor is what I was thinking when I read that.

That's what I was thinking when I read that too. I have one in my garage, but I'd be afraid of the possible dirt particles that could get in there since a garage is pretty dirty, and I don't trust the air filter that much. Eh, maybe I'll try that with this currently broken one. :)

When I stopped cleaning mine is when I quit having dead attys. I am still using the second atty from my first 510 kit that I bought in July. The first atty would still be working if I hadn't pulled the wicking out,lol Every now and then I will do a a very short 1-2 second dry burn to get a taste out of it and that's all I do to it.

Also, you may want to try using compressed air instead of blowing yourself. This will save you a headache and you can see what is happening. This is what I advise my customers when they have similar problems. Good luck.

Either canned air or compressed air could very easily break the fragile connections in an atty. I found that out the hard way. The air pressure is much too strong for an atty's connections. And like Hellen said, the bitterent in the canned air is beyond nasty.

It didnt always have it in there. They added hoping to stop people from huffing it. She may have been doing it before they started. Also, an addict doesn't care what something tastes like or feels like as long as they can get their fix. Think about, how bad does a cigarette taste to you now that you are vaping? Nicotine is an addictive drug as we all know. Cigarettes taste and smell awful but we didn't care. At the time, they seemed fine to us until we found a better tasting and safer alternative.

I hope this doesn't fall under the no drug talk rule. Sorry if it does. I won't bring it up again.
