I hope my post was ok too. I mean, c'mon, thats funny! :)

Actually, it's pretty sad to watch someone ruin their life like that.

ECF Rules state that any mention or discussion of drug use on the forum related to the e-cig is prohibited. This thread, I believe is within limits right now, but if it were to go in another direction, it could be deleted.

I know I am not in the majority in this thread...

I will never understand the complaints of killing atomizers by cleaning them. I use two atomizers per week, one 510 and one 306, and I clean them once per week in a Diet Coke bath. Each week when cleaning I rotate them out with the ones that were cleaned the previous week.

After that I soak them overnight in water.

I have been vaping since late June, and have not had a single atomizer die on me.
This is just my experience, and all I can do is convey it to you.

But you MUST let them dry, or get them dry, or you will think they don't work anymore.
Water in the atomizer, it just doesn't vape at all.

If you're in a hurry, I suggest 20 minutes in the oven at 150 degrees.
But I just let mine dry for a week.
:)

It's not the complaints of killing them, it's the actual reports of people killing working attys by cleaning them with methods that they read about here - some of which were last ditch efforts at reviving dead attys, when the newbie just has a flooded atty.

Most would be better off not cleaning them if they're working properly. I clean mine like JD does when needed.

Like many here, I stopped the maintenance cleaning because the atty never was the same again. I did the Pepsi clean on two and will never do again.
Recently I had one take on a really nasty taste so I HAD to clean it. I used the Crest Pro Mouthwash and a little bit of an Efferdent tablet. It got rid of the burnt taste and didn’t hurt the atty.
I was so impressed, I got out the two attys I gave the pepsi bath to and put them in the same solution. They are drying right now---with any luck, I’ll have them back in rotation.
To put off having to clean, I put in little vodka to help keep the atty clean and it seems to help things perform better.

I have constantly talked about flooded atomizers being the biggest issue.
And how people think they are dead when they are really just flooded.

The same applies to cleaning them and not letting them dry enough.
Or getting them dry enough.

But everybody can certainly do what they want.
I will continue soaking mine in Diet Coke once per week.

Maybe someday I will lose one.
After four months I'm still waiting for that to happen.

Can't fix stupid, but I don't want to encourage it either. lol.

I lost my first one last week. No autopsy yet....

I took the can't fix stupid part out, as you can see.

I know people get their panties in a bunch when they are called stupid.
And I hate it when people get their panties in a bunch.

Actually, that's not true, it amuses me.

Had one slowing down a bit after daily use for 5-6 weeks, took it to the shop , put an air nozzle on the compressor , and put my finger over the open end, and blew through the battery end. I placed my finger there so if the coil and such came forward, it would not come all the way out, obviously being destroyed.

The results were phenomenal to say the least !!!! The coil heats up red hot again, even more so then when it was new. I believe from production , the coil itself was pushed back against the ceramic cup, keeping it cool, much to cool to properly "atomize " the liquid. As well as being flooded, gunked up. I now have to cut my liquid !!!!!!!

mudmanc4,

How many PSI on the compressor?

mudmanc4,

Way too much would be the correct answer. lol

Probably around 100 psi. Short bursts of air off to the sides of the battery to see how this would react, then like I said held a finger over the cart end, and gave it the full force by placing the nozzle inside the cart end blowing back for several seconds. Several times.

This made me understand the importance of not flooding the atomizer , there's no comparison to the flavor , vapor , none what so ever, I went out and did the same thing to another one, and I got the same results.

All I can say is you could easily destroy the device by using too much air going into the battery side, the atomizer coil and assembly could slide right out, not so good.

I also advise against cleaning atomizer unless it's absolutely necessary, if you have a bad taste etc. Also avoid dripping the atomizer.. The problem isn't dripping on the wick but rather the excess that ends up in the heater coil. If you must clean it I recommend using 90% + rubbing alcohol it will have less wear on the atomizer coils which are tiny small & fragile.... alcohol will dry out faster help prevent corrosion & coil shorts. Short summary avoid dripping, cleaning, and keep your cartridge full but don't overfill.

Why do you advice against cleaning them ? What has happened to you in cleaning them as to say this ? Just curious. Thanks

Must be a personal preference no ? I haven;t lost one as of today, and they get some sort of cleaning every couple days. Before I discovered the forced air method last night for myself, I just allowed hot R.O. water to pass though them , blew them out by mouth and et em' sit overnight.

I drip constantly, keep my cart full to the brim constantly. I found that doing nothing to them , in my case, maybe the way I use them, and the juice I use, allows them to gunk up, and appear as if they are going bad, slowing down vapor production ect.

Is there anyone that does nothing to there atty's, And they work just fine ? Just curious.

I never clean mine unless they get really hard to draw on. Then it's a bath in grain alcohol for a few hours.

My 4081 atty lasted 6 months (3 cleanings during that period). It went cold when I knocked the passthrough off the kitchen table, and it hit the floor.

I used an M401 for a few months with the same atty. (Never cleaned or replaced it.)

I use a Protege for work with the 510 atty. When I got the Protege, I took the atty from my standard 510. It's still cooking.

To me, it's the same as smoking a pipe. Takes a while to break them in, and you don't touch them unless you have to.
