Well, yeah, it actually is rocket science if you think about it. What is a rocket or a mechanical mod? It's tube, with stored energy. ...

So, did I describe a rocket or did I describe mechanical vaping? Whatever you answer is, you are correct, that's exactly what it is, rocket science.

Actually, the battery might be equated to what you termed the rocket. The mod is little more than the paint job.

It's a battery holder, a switch, and a 510 or proprietary connector in its most usual form. Electrically, it's the simplest possible practical DC resistive circuit. (The switch is the uncomplicated complication.)

That said, there's room to innovate with material use, surface finish, and artsy design elements. On the one extreme are the mass produced, purely and often barely functional. The other end approaches functional jewelry in fit, finish, and design.

Not that this last bit has much to do with the rocket science of it. It addresses a different question raised about the range in prices.

The reason for a mech? For me, it's a return to the simplest of the simple: an eGo batt and a 510 drip atty. But bigger ;) in every way.

After having a variable voltage for so long and seeing everyone that I knew, my friends, that had mech mods and them having a good time with them, I decided to throw a little money and buy a clone of a mech mod, nemesis to be exact. And as a result I am already looking to buy one or two other ones to add to the collection, its not an addiction, its a hobby and one that all us vapors are not ashamed of. Do not be scared to try something new, just go for it!

Well, yeah, it actually is rocket science if you think about it. What is a rocket or a mechanical mod? It's tube, with stored energy. Once the stored energy is excited beyond stored stability, a reaction occurs. When directed correctly and in the right balance you get a favorable controlled reaction. If the chemical balance is not correct one gets an explosive unfavorable reaction.

So, did I describe a rocket or did I describe mechanical vaping? Whatever you answer is, you are correct, that's exactly what it is, rocket science.
This is probably one of the most ridiculous things I've ever read.

More like intro to electricity.

Rocket science is a mix of chemistry, physics, metallurgy, telecommunications, cryptology, and an ungodly other amount of other things more complex than an ohms law calculator and the ability to read the amp rating for your battery.

But I'm sure your vague simplistic comparison was purely philosophical.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a new person thinking about trying mechanicals? I have tried and liked the vv vw mods but am scared to try mech.

Don't be scared to try it.. I tried mech mods for the first time about 6months ago... My provari has become obsolete. Start with something common like a k100 to serif you like it

if you use an atomizer that can take the initial 3.9-4.1v hit and smooth sail until ~3.5v you dont even need to use a kick. with a great 1.2-1.5ohm microcoil they are a perfect carry around device.

i think the k100 is a good starter mech mod. its cheap and pretty reliable. the thread area has airholes and the button is pretty robust in comparison to other mech mods that are twice the price.

Why are you interested in trying a mechanical mod? What have you read or heard about them to make you want one? What are your expectations since you like your regulated mods? What could a mechanical mod offer you that you can't get with a regulated mod?

These are questions that need to be answered first.

Greetings; I just bought my first mech mod yesterday, and I'm only used it sparingly for now (waiting until I can get a Kick on the weekend), but so far i'm happy with the purchase.

I could swear that the vape quality is better -- this is purely subjective, but e-liquid flavours seem to taste better, compared to the Vamo I've been using. And I find it a pleasure not to be vaping with a poorly-built disposable device (my mech mod is inexpensive, i.e. the $40 range, but it seems well made).

Anyhow, I don't want to recommend for or against someone else getting a mod -- you have to make that decision yourself, MicheleK -- but I do want to say that my first experience with a mech mod is positive.

Regards
Glenn
