Thinking about upgrading the the Riva 510

Right now I'm the proud owner of the Joye 510, I've only had it 2 weeks and now Im seriously considering the riva. From what I've heard the battery life and flavor is a big improvement. Any advice on this? I was also wondering if the LR 510 attys fit on the Riva batteries? Maybe instead of doing the kit I can save some money and just buy them individually? Are the carts the same? And can I use the Joye 510 charger I have now? Any advice for a newbie is appreciated!

Thanks.

The 510 charger will work with the Riva but it'll take longer to charge due to the higher capacity of the Riva battery. If you're going for a Riva I'd recommend getting the kit from Liberty Flights using the coupon link in the upper left corner of their website. Excellent deal that will cost you little more than getting a Riva Battery and Cone, plus you get the faster charger with it which is well worth it.

Yes, the battery life alone is worth the upgrade.

No, you won't get any different hit from it, they are the same output voltage. The only difference you MIGHT detect is when using the cone it can be a slightly warmer vape.

Yes everything is compatible with each other as well as any battery that uses a 510 connection.

LR Attys will fit...as stated above as long as they are 510 connection but LR attys aren't recommended for use with the Riva, Ego, Reg 510 etc due to the amperage draw of the atty can shorten the batteries life. Some use them and have been for quite a while and some have had quick battery failure with them. If you do decide to use them I'd just use it on one battery in the kit and use recommended ohm attys on the other that way if it does shorten the life you have the other battery.

You are correct that it will make the flavors change. Some better, some worst. I have been using a Riva with a LR atty for 5 months and love it. Some say that it will kill the battery and it not supposed to be used with Riva/Ego units, but I have had no issues. I have 10 different devices ranging from my original Blu's to the 3.7 - 6 Volt range and keep returning to my little Riva weekly. It is a great little vaporizer.

Hey typo :) I have the Riva and it is great in my opinion. I've ordered from LibertyFlights.com and have had great dealing with them and with there 20% off sale the Riva kit is only 29 bucks and that is a really good price. Just ordered the Riva kit for my friend and she is loving it. They sell LR attys too if you want to go that route as well. Just trying to help you save some money and get what you want at the same time, I'm in no way affiliated with them. The coupon code is "ecf" without the quotation marks :) I hope this helps you out a lil.

Hey typocinnamongirl!

As others said, the Riva battery life alone is probably worth the upgrade, and you do need a new charger. The vaping experience... is pretty similar. I find the cone changes the draw and heat in a way I like - others don't. But it's a subtle difference. I think that because a higher mAh battery like the Riva/eGo keeps performing at max voltage for longer, it gives the illusion of more power. It's not. It's just that the 510 battery life is so short that the power drop that happens as the battery runs down takes up more of its total battery life.

As to LR's... I'd be careful. I am one of those people who has had problems with it. I overheated the switch on a 900mAh eGo battery with an LR and destroyed the it. The battery was only a couple weeks old.

I do vape heavily - maybe it's not as big a problem if you don't. But all the same, Riva/eGo batteries aren't designed to deal with that kind of power. The amperage is too low, and the switch isn't robust enough.

Lots of people do it with no problems. And maybe if you're careful you won't have issues. But the risk is definitely there.

The only thing that is really designed to handle an LR is a mod, using a 2.5+ amp battery, and with a high-grade or mechanical switch (which is what I use now, with no problems).

LR's seem to improve some flavors, and hurt others. The atomizer gets hotter and vaporizes faster, so it does change the way a lot of juices taste. You'll have to play with it to find what you do or don't like.

Thanks everyone! I have a much better idea now of what I can expect when I have the ability to purchase something new. Sounds like the riva is a good way to go. Yes, it does get irritating switching the bat's out every couple hours!!!!!!!!!! Probably wont hazard a chance at messing things up with the LR attys. I was wondering how those were meant to be used! Thanks for clearing that up for me MistressNomad :) and thanks for the Liberty flights recommendation Vapin Chic! Will definitely give them a look :p Great price!

Hi
I started with a Joye 510 as well. As I was looking for a passthru for my set, I purchase the JOYE Ego passthru/battery instead of the Joye 510. I really like using it as I'm always on the computer alot. I like it alot more then my 510. And since the passthru is a battery too, I'm running around the house w/ it as well or other places. Now i'm just using my JOye 510 batteries as a back up. If you do need a passthru and haven't gotten one you might think of just picking up a JOYE Ego passthru/battery instead of the Riva kit. Liberty-flights sells that passthru for around $21 i think w/ the 20% discount. I'm was thinking of also purchasing the Riva 510 set, too since I like the passthru so much, but not right now, need to hold on till next month or so,,, spend too much money already :D
