Greetings ECF family. I'm still really new to the vaping community, 9 days and counting smoke free. I've done the whole disposable to crappy rechargeable to a 650 mah evod setup. I'm really enjoying it so far, both the vaping and not hacking up a lung every morning from the smoggers, but I need something with more longevity and the ability to adjust to taste. The evod bcc's and protank II I started with all came with the standard 2.5 ohm coils. Didn't feel the vapor was quite right so I bought some of the 1.8 ohm replacement coils. Started out great for an hour or so, but I keep getting a burnt metallic taste - thinking the coils are burning up more juice than the wicks are taking in.
Just started looking through fast tech for a vv vw setup. I like the idea of the vamo v3, but prefer the aesthetics of the v2. Are there any huge differences between the 2, besides the new led display? I thought I remembered reading something about an issue with the contact pin on the v2. Also, any other suggestions for a "plainer" looking vv/vw setup? I don't particularly care for the striped etching on the came v3.

Tl/dr: need to upgrade. Major differences between vamo v3 vs v2? Any other suggestions?

Thanks for taking the time to read my novella.

First off, try removing one of the flavor wick from your head and see if that improve your burning?

2nd, on battery. I have VAMO V3 and the marks of the body don't bother me. V3 TOP piece can be removed for easier clean. It also removed one of the feature that was not needed. Can't remember what is it called.

Another one to consider would be itaste v3.o (ego sized).

VAMO is big for pocket carry out and about. Egos are better for that.

Cheers

I was looking at the twist-type batts, but prefer being able to just buy new rechargeables instead of a whole new unit. May end up with a twist/spinner if the vv mod is too clunky for everyday out and about use.

All the MVPs at Fasttech are now VV/WW (5 volt, 11 watt max) if your into box mods. Nothing wrong with the Vamo 2 or 3 either. I just got a Protank II the other day. I have to do a primer puff before every vape to get enough juice to the coil. So far I don't see it replacing my carto tanks.
Was looking at the mvp's as well - nice battery life (2600 mah I believe), but you have to replace the whole unit when the battery croaks, right?

Your right the MPV battery is not user replaceable. My guess? Something else would break or wear out on the unit before the battery. The MVP II does ohms too. I've got four Twist batteries I use with LR tanked cartos, I like 'em! See Phil's review of the Vamo 2. Version 3 has the nicer screen, removable top cap, and no AVG setting (which you don't need). There's suppose to be a version 2.5 / 4 which is a V3 in a V2 body but Fasttech doesn't have it yet so you'd pay more stateside.

$51.54 Vamo V2 Variable Voltage Mod / E-Cigarette Battery Compartment Kit - with Nitecore I2 US battery charger/charger cable/2*Sony 18650 batteries at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping
That's the one I keep mulling over, or the same kit with the v3 instead. Now I'm just concerned about the batteries and charger: are these some of the components people have had issues with catching fire/exploding? I live in an old rowhome in Philly, so a small blaze could quickly escalate to an entire block bonfire. Not trying to be responsible for The Great APV Fire of 2013, lol... Talk about bad publicity for the cause.

Don't remove flavor wick. Much better to adjust PG/VG ratio if you can. Flavor wicks there for many good reasons. Problem sounds like you must get variable voltage. That will do more to control flavor, vapor, burning, etc., particularly as you are using bottom coils.

The Vamo V3 does not photograph well and you don't even notice the lines on the actual device, particularly if you get stainless steel. The lines actually provide a better grip. Also, the V3 has a better OLED screen, better threading, a larger and removable drip well, and has only RMS output (which is what you want). Much better device and big improvement over the V2. I have three Vamo's including V2's and V3's. V3 is hands down better.

The Vamo is probably the best value APV in the world bar none. There are about 50 APV's that use the same Chinese 33.3 chip and provide similar performance. For slightly more money, you might want to consider the iTaste 3.0 (best stick battery in the world, imho), the Sigelei V5, the iTaste SVD, the iTaste MVP V2, the SID, etc. I think the Sigelei V5 may be the best APV under $100. Stainless, quality build, OLED screen, telescoping, fantastic one button menu system and control, ego and 510 threading, etc. If I had to pick a main APV and a backup I would get:

1. The iTaste 3.0 (out and about, stealth, portable, backup) stick battery with Ohm meter, variable power and voltage, +/- buttons, etc., and
2. The Sigelei V5.

This would make me a happy camper if I was just starting out. I bought 25 APV's along the way, have sold more than half of them, keeping the best (for me) and I still have both of these along with my evics, provari's and samovar + mechanicals. These two APV's will give you everything you need for any situation and I really wish someone had given me this advise before I dropped my first grand.

The markings on the V3 show up on the HD pictures, but are barely noticeable in person. Really a non-issue, and I'm picky about my gear. The upgrades to the performance far outweigh the other considerations and I've never seen any disagreement in this regard except from V2 owners/users. Highly recommend the stainless Vamo V3.

Good luck, happy shopping, power up and vape On!

The whole battery thing gives me a headache. Hopefully someone who feels more qualified will chime in. I already had Efest 350s and they work fine for me.

Batteries : Efest IMR 18350 Button Top

Get a good charger. The only time I had trouble with batteries was because of a cheap one. Pila, Efest, Xtar or Intellicharger. I have the i4 now.

I ended up ordering the v3 from a local vender: couldn't bear to wait the 2-3 weeks and I like to try and support local small business when I can. Got the gun metal finish instead of stainless, though I've heard the chrome finishes wear faster - just adds character IMO. It just shipped so I'll check back in when my shipment arrives, prob Wednesday.
Thanks for all the help folks.

Battery chargers at RTD Vapor

Yeah, I'm probably just being paranoid but momma always said "better safe than sorry." The kits I got comes with two 18350's, I'll upgrade the charger and batteries probably next pay day. Wanted the "..... mode" for vape breaks at work anyway (condensed version with single 18350).

Got my vamo 3 today, if anyone was following along :)
So far I'm really impressed: hyooge upgrade from my standard ego. Getting much better flavor from the juices that were none too impressive before, the vv helps tremendously.
If I had to pick nits, the center pin connection is kinda shifty. Haven't had any problems from over tightening: been rotating 4 evod bcc's, a protank 2 and a pt2 mini - all working great. But when I screw on the pt2 (510 connection) I can tilt the connection from side to side. It's not a wobble, pretty stiff actually, but every time I screw the tank on my OCD forces me to shift it ever so slightly to make it stand up perfectly straight.
I've seen many comments and videos regarding changing out the rubber o-ring on the center pin to keep it from pushing in, but haven't seen any easy mods to stop the shift.
Anyone have a quick fix? Or at least can relate to and understand what I'm experiencing?
