PS- for some reason, I can't comment on the article...

I had problems, too. I tried typing into the comment box, but could not get it to store. When the screen refreshed, I noticed a blue button at the top of the story that is labeled "Comment on this story". After I clicked that button, I was taken back to the same comment box, but this time it allowed me to store my comment.
 
Try to keep up, Thulium. Vocalek just explained it. The uterus is opened, as is the chest wall of the fetus. Then carcinogens are painted onto its developing lungs. I'm just guessing, but I think the assistant surgeon is the "third hand" (and the fourth). Although rarely discussed, the fifth and sixth hands usually belong to the nurses in the room.

I guess if I ever smoke another cigarette, I'll be sure to not perform any in utero surgeries at the same time. Fortunately, the tradition is generally to have the cigarette AFTER any work in that area is done. :facepalm:
