So here I am in the new members forum, with a registration date of 2008 ;).

I first tried e-cigs about three years ago with (and this was my first mistake) one of those cheapo super minis. That didn't work out so well. Later, I tried out a pen style but it still just didn't quite take hold. There wasn't much up here in Canada in the way of vendors back then -- for me, vaping was a trial of crap flavours, flakey "half-a-haul" automatic batteries, long waits with customs, substandard local availability, DOA atties/batts and having to charge every 30 minutes... I eventually just gave up in frustration.

Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago, and I run across my old pen in a drawer and decide to take another look. After looking around a bit and reading the forums, I figured I'd give it another try and see if I can cut down a bit once again.

So I picked myself up an eGo from Happy Vaper here in Toronto (and some great juice from Vapables). I got my eGo on Sept 1st and something totally unexpected happened -- rather than just cut down, I stopped smoking altogether. Fifteen years, almost two packs a day and just like that I'm vaping full-time. So here I am, smoke free since September 1, and still in shock at how much easier and most of all enjoyable its been this time around. :D

Happy vaping!

Thanks. Indeed, I didn't so much quit as just... stop. It wasn't a conscious decision for me at all, but once I noticed how long it had been the next day I figured I may as well roll with it! Now I just have to go to my building's tuck shoppe and tell'em they can stop ordering in cartons of my brand for me!

I'm with you stouchon wrt the big battery mod. I especially like the idea of the purely mechanical ones like the precise -- something that can really last a veritable lifetime and be a showpiece to boot.

I joined a year ago and did the same thing...went with a supplier who had nasty-tasting carts that made me ill. I just assumed that all juice tasted like that perfumey, yucky crap. I became desperate about two weeks ago when I contracted my SECOND upper respiratory infection in 5 months and decided to give it another go. Thank God I did, because I'm now happily vaping away and quit smoking the minute I took my PV of the package.

I think that would be my biggest piece of advice to people: Don't give up right away...do your research and find out what works best for you. Also, there's so many more reputable suppliers and juice manufacturers out there now...mainly in the USA. It's becoming better and better all the time!

Anyway, congrats!

Thanks Pheisty. Yeah, I'd agree thats good advice. You really never know when you're going to hit that "golden combo" that just clicks (Vanilla Custard + LR Atty = Heavenly!). Gotta stick with it. In my case the stakes are pretty high -- cancer runs in my family, so this may literally be a life saver for me.

Stouchon -- I know, its a lot to take in. Although that's part of what I've been enjoying about this whole experience -- I've dropped a habit and gained a hobby ;)

I imagine the vaping scene has changed a lot in two years and I'm glad to hear its finally working for you.

It's really like night and day, especially up here in Canada. I mean, we actually have reliable, quality local vendors now for a start! Its been such an evolution -- between manual batteries and the wide variety of flavours (and solid devices now too), its a whole new world for me.

Although I gotta say, one thing I did enjoy originally was the bottle of RY4 I still have from back then. I saw some newer RY4 and its totally different. Mine is thick, dark and golden -- the new stuff is clear and just seems like a weak shadow of the original. Jack (Mr. Happy Vaper) told me I should treasure what I've got left of it, and I must say its pretty nice on the LR atty on the eGo. Too bad I've only got a couple ML left before its gone forever!

Hey Jack! Can't say enough good things about the "other Jack" over at Happy Vaper, and if you haven't tried some of the juices over at Vapables you should definitely check them out. Its amazing how much more choice we have now domestically. I hear VIECS is decent out your end of the country too, have you tried them? Gotta love that eGo though!

I am quite happy I missed the boat on this one.
It sounds as if there has been a lot of trial and error with these products preceding the 510 and the ego.

Wow Jon....Welcome back ! It is pretty mind boggliing (what is out there now)...agree on vanilla custard !!

Try some French Toast !!!

If you could get grilled cheese, my life would be complete. Except it might taste really crappy, but hey, I'm willing to try. =)
