65* last night and today we flirt with a record high....should be @80*...Freezing rain forecast for Saturday night....Welcome too North Carolina....Don't like the weather???? Just wait a minute and it'll change...

Good and bad news on the beach repairs...All the floor remains solid....just a little bucked up in one spot....tub, sink and toilet removal still required along with some new floor and lineoleum....The perimeter band for the floor joists is rotten on all four corners of the house....It was caused by a design flaw with the outside trim as far as I can see....It is what it is....

I've been up @ 45 minutes....Took the cell of the charger and promptly lost it....I haven't been far but 3000 checks of all the possibles lead too "LOST PHONE"!!!!!!!!!! Will it ring and reveal it's location???? Oh hell no......

I need to get one of those daily am/pm pill boxes. Hung over as hell this morning after taking my night night meds twice last night  As soon as I swallowed that second dose of xanax, I realized that I'd already taken it. Slept like a rock tho!

I found the phone......Sat it on the arm of a chair that has my overnight bag on it...Fell into chair beside the bag....Good thing is I now know where everything in the house is located....

Double dosing Huh??????? I must have been exhausted myself....Awoke in the same position I fell asleep in...Stiff as a board!!!!!!!!!!

Gonna straighten things up a bit and cut the block....My Cousin is looking a place down here and I'll keep an eye peeled for one....Gotta spy on the neighbors a bit.....Thinking about riding down too South Topsail Inlet for a stroll....Let Spike stretch the leash a bit.....

Good morning everyone.

May I whine about the cold out here? The problem is, is that this house is not made for cold weather. It's an old carriage house that was built in the late 1800s and doesn't have much insulation. I have all electric heat. We have had hard frost warnings the last 2 nights and maybe only in the high 40s during the day. My old bones don't handle the cold very good.

It feels a bit warmer today. Probably because they are forcasting rain for tonight. Wharfie, I am NOT going to send you any rain. We need it too bad up here. :D

Good Morning, Happy Holidays! Today the good news is it's the earliest sunset of the year, from after tonight the evening sun sets later. Pishaw Moon, you might say, the shortest day of the year is the solstice, Dec. 21. And you would be correct, but ...

Why isn’t the earliest sunset on the year’s shortest day? It’s because of the discrepancy between the clock and the sun. A clock ticks off exactly 24 hours from one noon to the next. But an actual day – as measured by the spin of the Earth, from what is called one “solar noon” to the next – rarely equals 24 hours exactly.

Solar noon is also called simply “midday.” It refers to that instant when the sun reaches its highest point for the day. At this time of year, the time period from one solar noon to the next is actually half a minute longer than 24 hours. Today, on December 7, the sun reaches its noontime position at 11:52 a.m. local standard time. Two weeks later – on the winter solstice – the sun will reach its noontime position around 11:59 a.m. That’s 7 minutes later than today.

The later clock time for solar noon also means a later clock time for sunrise and sunset. The table below helps to explain.

For Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Date Sunrise Solar Noon (Midday) Sunset Daylight Hours
December 7 7:09 a.m. 11:52 a.m. 4:35 p.m. 9 hours 26 minutes
December 21 7:19 a.m. 11:59 a.m. 4:39 p.m. 9 hours 20 minutes

Earliest sunsets are not at winter solstice | Tonight | EarthSky

For me, the early sunsets of winter is one of the worst things about this time of year. Which is why I always celebrate this otherwise tragic date in history. Party - Party -Party :)
