(((Fran))) You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Always!

TT, Ever since our Sdh told me the side effects of those statin drugs, I've been trying to talk my Dad into talking to his doctor about stopping them and using oatmeal or other foods to help with the cholesterol. His short term memory has declined terribly in the 2 years he has been taking this. I don't like it one bit, but my Dad is Mr. Stubborn and says "the doctors know best". Well maybe so, but they are also in cahoots with Big Pharma, and I just don't like it. I'm with ElDee, give me natural methods to try first, then we'll talk about pharma only if the natural methods aren't helping.
I wish you well TT.....talk to your doc about alternatives, whether it's possible or not to try.

Some folks have to take the statins, Tracy. My mom tried everything to get off them including 2000 mgs of niacon per day. The COQ10 hodge podge, etc. The doc is the best one to decide if the benefits outweigh the risks. One of the reasons it is important to have a doc that you trust.

My mom is back on statins and doing very well. She takes COQ10 on the advice of her doc in conjunction with the statins. It has done a great job at counteracting the side effects JMHO :)

I wasn't aware of that Salem. I just thought everyone was simply put on it to lower cholesterol? He was not told to take the CoQ10 with it. I just REALLY see that he has almost every one of those side effects from Parkinson's like symptoms, to muscle weakness (has neuropathy, alcohol related) and his short term memory is getting worse by the month. Seemed simple enough to me to try alternative methods to lower cholesterol and see if there is any improvement in those areas. Of course I am not a doctor, and don't play one on TV either! hahaha Well, I guess it won't hurt to ask the doc anyways. The most he can say is no. I am happy to hear your Mom is doing well on them Salem, maybe my Dad should at least try the CoQ10 with it.

Question for you protankers....where the heck are we finding the replacement coils? I know Salem mentioned using the EVOD's as well, and liking them even more. Trouble is, I went to look for some and 3 or 4 places do not have them. (even the place that I got my protank from!) YIKES! It'd be just my luck to take a shining to something, and then can't find replacement coils. Thanks in advance for your help!

I will PM you about the coils, Tracy :) My mom is the opposite of your dad. She will read those patient inserts and not take her meds because of the possible side effects. I have a very hard time convicing her that
1. If it is even remotely possible, they must list it
2. Her doc knows her health history and has taken that into consideration before putting her on the med.

Now, I am not a person that believes that just because a doc is a doc, they know whats best. You do have to pay close attention and check behind them. They not only make mistakes but, there are some real ...... out there that should not even be docs. Thats why it is so important to have a doc that you trust.

In my moms case, her cholesterol was off the charts. Heart disease runs heavily in our family. The statins are the only thing that have shown any improvement in her cholesterol. So, in her case, the benefits outweigh the risk by a long shot.

Statins can be very nasty indeed. The med that my mom is on, she only takes every other day. After trying all of the alternatives, her doc put her on Crestor ( I think) and told her that even if she could only tolerate it once a week, the benefits would be great. I am pretty sure that he said that Crestor is the only statin that works this way. So, she built up to every other day combining with the COQ10 and is doing well.

I'm glad to hear that Salem. It does sound like your Mom would benefit from it and tolerates it well. There is no heart disease in my Dad's family history, but I will ask the doc about it, and adding the CoQ10 in conjunction. :) I believe my Dad takes his every day, and sometimes he has taken a nap, woke up, thought it was the next day and doubled up for goodness sake! (on all his meds, not just the statin!!!) He's gonna make me drink, I swear!!!!

I got my replacement coils from IVape...Myrtle Beach SC...They're on FB and that's how I found them...

Big Pharma paying the Docs...I lost my Dad due to a Doc on the payroll of Big Pharma....Seems that everywhere you look there's an ulterior motive...Usually traced too the root of all evil...

Lugging that heavy assed security gate pole I pulled a shoulder muscle....2 Aleve and good!! I'll only take Aleve when something such as this happens...No pills for this old Outlaw...NONE!!!

Willpower...Mine is way stronger than most...The more I see{Pharma, Food, Government} the more I just don't like...I'm trying my best to be more healthy...before the time comes...Still in my mind I believe only putting good things into your body will pay dividends in the long run...That isn't exactly easy when poisons tempt at every turn...

An old friend went down yesterday...54 years old...heart attack...dead....I to rolled with the Columbian Marching Powder...Thankfully I saw what it was doing to me years ago...Sad that some did not...

With all that's happened in this world of late...well....all you can do is buck up and soldier on...Maybe the good times are really over for good...

Sorry to hear of yet another friend gone Dee. I still read my home town newspaper online, and seems about once a week I see an obit for someone I knew. The Colombian Marching Powder was just starting to hit the streets in the Memphis area when I moved away from there. Way too many of the people I knew fell into it. Most are gone now :(

Tracy, glad to hear that Salem got you headed in the right direction for your replacement heads.

AH was sentenced yesterday, I'm waiting for the court docket to be updated. As of this morning it looks like he may have taken a plea deal (unless the docket update isn't finished) Dropped the corrupting the morals of a miner felony, guilty on the assault on a peace officer and the attempt. burglary felonies. 1 year in prison and 2 years "special parole"...I'll have to find out what that means. I'll update if the info changes. This is the one time I wish I had gone to court, so I would know exactly what was handed down.

ETA: Hmmm, now the docket says 3 Years Jail, Special Parole 2 Years

Special parole is part of the sentence that a judge can impose when someone is convicted of a crime. The judge can require a period of special parole under parole supervision after an offender completes his or her maximum prison sentence.

Got word about the baby's funeral. Trying to make it as painless as possible we're all meeting at the cemetery. I have seen and suffered too much pain in my life and I wish I didn't have to go.

My heart is aching for you and your family Fran.

You and yours WILL be in our thoughts and prayers and believe me, all of us here share in your sadness.

Stay strong in the knowledge that there really is a better place to go to than this life on earth my friend.

TT

I hate to spoil your day Bo but if it's anything like WA. he will get 33.3% to 50% off for good behavier and after going through intake for 6 weeks he will be eligible for work release or camp. But if he screws up that parole it's by by for the whole 9 yrds. You better hope the guidelines are stiffer there than they are here. Too bad your not down south. Them boys down there don't play.

You're right as usual 5Card.

I'll bet AH would just love a Texas prison.

And Louisiana would be even better!

Since I've never had any experience with a situation like this, all I have to go on is what's written in the CT law library. You may very well be right 5c, but according to what I've been reading there is a minimum mandatory of 1 year with no chance of parole for at least 1 of the 2 felonies he plead guilty to. So maybe what is on the conviction docket is 3 years + 2yr special parole = 1 year to serve + the 2 yr parole. In Ct there is a difference between parole and "special" parole. It is supposed to be much stricter guidelines for special parole than for regular.

I'm sure he'll write and let me know. At least the judge didn't just slap his wrist, give him time served and probation, and let him go...that is what I was afraid would happen.

If it has a mandatory minimum then he'll likely do the yr. Also for sex offenders (not that he is one) and crimes with victims they hand out stricter punishment. Over here you can do 50 burglaries and still never see the inside but just do one burglary when someone is home and it goes to 1st degree. Then it's hard not to go to prison. For assaulting a police officer they like to make examples out of them and I'm sure that's why he got the time. That also means a police K9.
But just remember you got friends so you're not in this alone.
