This is so embarrassing - Ody troubles

But I gotta ask. I was using the Ody in full CE2 mode with the GGTS base. I decided to make a wick, but damned if I can get the atomizer insert and the base apart! I can turn it counter clockwise for a few turns but that's it. I even made hubby give it a go in case I was just a weakling. No go.

Any of you have some ideas on how to get these apart without damaging this baby?

Ok, the base is freed. I better go read Para's polishing tips, though. Troy chewed up the GGTS base a little.

Damn! I was just about to say put on a pair of washing up gloves, marigold's they are called in the UK.

I would have asked him to use a towel in the jaws of the pliers he used had I known.

I did try rubber gloves while running it under hot water and dry, no good.

It does look pretty gruesome so I'll have to order another one when the Proteus is released.

Scratches can be polished out if they're not too deep. Deep ones can be sanded down, then polished. Always use vaseline on all threads to prevent lock ups in the future. When you get the new base, send me the old one aand I'll fix it up for you

i have never ever used Vaseline but never over tighten ,use a damp cloth if you are toiling,the cloth gives a good grip without damaging

Pliers, wrenches, screw drivers and vices do not come near my ody or peny, if it doesn't screw in something is wrong.

I use a rubber jar opener thingie. It's just a soft rubber pad that's used to get a better grip on jars. Most kitchen stores have them for a couple bucks. The petroleum jelly things works well because it eliminates (actually reduces) metal to metal friction between the threads. Not so important on SS because it's so hard but on the old Aluminum GG's it kept from wearing out the threads from constant threading/un-threading.
