Mississippi is a 2nd Amendment state, and I love that. There are crazies everywhere we are in the United States. It is now legal for a woman to carry a gun in her purse. And, before you ask, yes I do! My husband has drilled and drilled into me gun safety. We never had guns in our house when I grew up, but his family did when he grew up.
When someone I knew was murdered, I made the decision to have a hand gun. I was hilarious! I was so afraid of it. I picked out a .357 and had only shot a .22 rifle. What a difference. I was like Barney Fife. The first week I carried it around getting the feel of it. The 2nd week, I practiced loading and unloading it. The 3rd week, I kept it loaded.
The first time we went out practice shooting, I only put one bullet into the revolver. My gun also shoots .38 ammo. I was soooo funny! You treat all guns as if they are loaded. Don't presume they are empty. And, never never never never never point a gun at someone unless you are planning to pull the trigger...like at prowler in your home.
Years ago when my son was a young teenager, he said: 'Mom, you'd only shoot someone in the arm or leg, right?' I answered, ' No, Michael,' then explained why. He then said: 'Mom, I know just what you'd do, too! You'd walk up to the person in their last moments and say: 'Do you know Jesus as your personal Lord and Saviour?' AND, he's probably right!
