When someone puts a post on here about a health related issue (I get dizzy when i vape, my mouth is dry, the room is upside down and I am seeing spots, Abe Lincoln came to me in my sleep and told me to vape, my heart flutters a bit when i vape at 200 watts). Please don;t give health advice. Refer these people to a Doctor. I cringe when I see people saying (That's just cigarette withdrawal or drink more water) We are not doctors and lets let all the hypochondriacs stay over at the WEBMD chat rooms.

When I hear someone on a post that to me sounds like symptoms I or the other 1200 people I've come into contact with since starting being related to the effects of your body trying to recuperate from 40 years of smoking or dehydration, nicotine overdose, soar throat as well as dry hits, vapor tongue I will give my opinion on the matter, if you don't understand the differentiation of these symptoms you should not be giving suggestions.
I will however agree when I hear someone saying they are having a hard time breathing / shortness of breath that we should recommend a physician.

In every thread that is health related at the very least one poster will point out that we are not Dr's. Usually more than one.

I think that some of the questions are legit and relavent and not indicitive of someone being a hypocondriac. It is my impression that ecf members hve always been willing to help others and answer questions when possible so I fail to see why someone asking a question would make anyone cringe.

Someone who comes to ECF with a medical concern/question is more often than not simply asking if it's common among vapers or recent quitters. I don't see any harm in that. Some do go a little overboard and actually ask for medical advice, in which case the responses almost always suggest seeking qualified medical advice.

In the interest of completeness, you failed to list "Kidney pain". (Some will get it, most probably won't)

But seriously, while I totally agree with your premise, it seems the majority of any fault should lie with the poster for coming here "for medical advice" in the first place. For the most part, if they are here asking, they have already ruled out the need for professional medical advice. They asked for our advice and we gave/give it, including many instances of "you should go see your doctor". :2c:

I think forums across the web attract self diagnosing hypos anyway. Not just here. There was a post yesterday I think where someone when saying they get dizzy or something. People were actually suggesting maybe it was from too high nic or tobacco withdrawal. Yeesh.

Ya and one was me, dizziness is a nicotine overdose symptom but without the nauseous feeling would leave me to believe it's dehydration, do you realize how many people don't have a clue about having to dink more water and without being able to differentiate the two your suggestion may not be valid ........If you can save someone 500.00$ for being dehydrated would you ?

beware a lot of these health related posts are nothing more
than ANTZ trolling.
then they can say out of one side of their mouth we are giving
out medical advice when we don't know what we are talking about,
hence rigid regulation is necessary to protect us dumby's.
conversely out of the other side they will say we know vaping causes
all sorts of problems other than what is already known.
ergo even stricter regulations are needed to protect us as
we have no will power.
if i respond i stick with:
1. call your doctor.
2.stay hydrated.
3. try adjusting your nic level +or-.
4. try adjusting your PG/VG.

I was one of those who posted to your cringeworthy thread yesterday.
If someone comes here wondering about a physical phenomenon which is absolutely common among beginning vapers I think it is a tremendous disservice not to tell them that it's common. Whether they be ANTZ or hypochondriacs, if the only thing we have to offer is "Go see a doctor" we're not representing the truth of vaping. Furthermore, who says that none of us are doctors?

It makes you cringe, you say? I need more information to accurately diagnose your problem.....
How often do you experience the cringing? How long does the cringe last? How much time passes between cringes? Has there been any changes in your diet? Are you drinking plenty of water? Are you tilting your clearomizer? These cringes could indicate the onset of a much more serious problem.

that's my point. they used these tactics back during
the smoking ban debate. except they infiltrated groups
organizing against bans and reported their distorted
findings on what was and wasn't true about what was
thought about the health related issues hence, very
strict regulations where needed against tobacco.

mike
