Nice job!
Since bottom cap is only place getting scratched up, I put a small scotch tape (transparent) on the bottom cap. You can't tell its there and it definitely avoid getting scratches.

Capt can you offer any tips for polishing brass,? Going to polish/buff new bass justgg.

Nothing special really about brass Jeff, in fact it's easier than SS as it's so much softer. I recommend you use the same white compound and a new wheel as brass residue is left on the wheel so you don't want to mix a brass wheel with an SS wheel. Use a little less pressure when you polish the brass Just and you'll do a great job
