Imeo, I was looking at Bandit's picture of his new GG Slim on the following thread...

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/gg/46086-photos-my-gg-slim-lotsa-pics.html

Is this what you meant by in between shiny and mat? I must say, it does look very nice. I like the finish of Bandit's Slim much more than the brushed look of the Transformer that it is sitting next to the Slim (this is my personal opinion). Does it look like this in your hands? Is it harder to scratch than a shiny finish?

:)

I was thinking about the anodizing this morning... If you were to dip the GG as we have it (already threads cut and holes drilled) then you coated the entire thing.. Would that effect the GG's performance. I think this is why those others were talking me out of it. Because I would need to re-cut threads.... Or keep them from getting anodized somehow.

exactly vapn:). and there is no way to protect holes and threads.

Do you remember when Imeo and I said that the newer models are all made out of a more robust aluminium that is slightly shinier than the old ones?

This is what you are seeing in the difference between the trans and the slim in Bandit's pics.

Yes, it is also more hard-wearing.

So do you think daily wear and tear would cause small scratches in this new finish that Imeo is currently doing?

If small scratches occurred, then it would probably require buffing at some point. If it would require buffing, then I assume there is no way to keep that finish? Am I correct? Then simply go to a shiny finish at that point by buffing the whole device? :)

Thanks!

Imeo specifically chose the higher spec new material to make it more hardwearing but you can't avoid some marks from daily wear and tear unless you don't use it at all, Esmoking.

Maybe you should just buy only one GG at first and actually get it in your hands to actually see what you're looking at before spending all this money on hundreds of them?

There is a reason customers keep coming back for more, so perhaps this is the best way for you.

Well, I'm not buying hundreds:oops:, but probably 5-10, or maybe 12. I have at least a couple reasons for this off the top of my head. To fulfill my order that Imeo and I have discussed through PM will take Imeo 20-30 days due to special requests such as standard 801 fittings (I hate adapters). I'm already pushing that far enough with the possibility of a ban within that time span and I surely don't want to risk getting one model, trying it out for a month or two, then a (possible) ban occurs in the USA (which is very likely at this point), and then I can't receive shipment on my other models. My other reason for doing them all at once is that Imeo said that he can make all of my gold and silver caps on all models (with the same diameters) interchange with one another so that I can mix and match colors to my liking at any time. But to do this, he has to make them all at once.

Whatever I decide to do, I will live with, no matter my decision. I'm sure whatever I get from Imeo, I will be well pleased. I am starting to second think the shiny finish and I'm thinking that maybe I shouldn't second guess a master artist like Imeo, but I'm still having doubts. I was just trying to gather all the info I could from experienced GG users before I made my final decision. I'm certainly not made of money, so whatever I do I will have to live with. But again, I'm sure I will be well pleased either way. I think I'll sleep on it over the weekend and see if anyone else chimes in with any other suggestions and advice. I'll probably go see a jeweler and plating company Monday or Tuesday for their opinions.

Thanks for all your help, Lisa, and everyone else! :):D:):D:)

All good points and yes, sleeping on it this weekend would be wise - as well as seeing a jeweller as you say.
I must say, even if there is a ban in the states, I really can't see how there would be a problem sending and receiving these type of devices but I can understand your concerns and preparation for the worst.

I think having them in their natural state - as Imeo intended, is the best way to go - because this gives you the option of keeping them like this, or buffing them up - so you win either way, right?

Whichever way you look at it, you will not end up with devices as matt as they used to be because of the differences in production and materials with the latest ones.

Yes, I'm definitely preparing for the worst. I'm a vapoholic.

It probably doesn't concern you too much being in the UK, but if you've kept up with the following threads, you'd be as worried as I am if you lived in the USA...

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...rywhere-vs-fda-off-topic-conversation-76.html

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...fda-daily-docket-sheet-update.html#post390077

We have been awaiting Judge Leon's decision for like 6 weeks now. The time is very near. If he sides with the FDA (which he probably will), the battery casings and atomizers will be considered drug delivery devices, and will be banned as well as the liquid. I can't go into all the details now; it's too complex and I'm no lawyer. But the members who have some legal experience (like Sun Vaporer) don't seem very optimistic to say the least.

Thanks again.
