When using the ejuicemeup calc, I notice it calls for 0.875ml on one ingredient and 18.75ml for another, and 0.55ml lastly. Question is, would you just keep it simple and round up? 1.388ml to 1.4ml. Or error on the side of caution and round 0.55ml down to 0.5ml? Want to know if everyone follows true rounding rules or make slight alterations considering were working with flavorings that can alter a batch if one's not careful.

Thanks everyone!!

My scale goes down to the mg so I don't round at all.
Best you can do though is the nearest drop from your dropper bottle or pipette to what your target weight is.
Due to drop size, it is almost impossible to get to the mg level of precision but you can get real close.

Typically, if I need to adjust the amount like that I'll round down since I can always add more flavoring, a drop at a time if necessary, but can't remove any. For the base mixing ingredients (PG/VG) I don't worry about being too precise on the ratio between them since I won't even notice if the balance is a little one way or the other. In the case of my nic base, if I need an amount I can't accurately measure, I'll just adjust the size of the batch so that I can be more accurate

Absolutely I would Round Off those Numbers. How Exactly were you going to Measure 1.388ml anyway?

I would make them,

.875ml => 1ml
18.75ml =>19ml
.55ml = .5ml

If you Don't know what a Recipe is Going to Taste Like, and you are Most Likely going to Tweak it Anyway, why not use Easy to Work with Numbers?

And if the recipe Needs No Tweaking, Cool. You have a Recipe with Nice Round Numbers.

Because what tastes good to you may or may not taste good to me, I don't see a problem with rounding. In fact, you might find that you'd rather have 18 mL instead of 19 mL or .75 instead of .55. I think if your proportions are reasonable, then that's where it's at.

I use pipettes for measuring - I know they're not perfect, but I get what I want. I may have a recipe that calls for 6% - to me, that's 0.6mL/10mL bottle. If I'm going to make a 30mL bottle, I should use 1.8mL in that recipe. Well, my pipettes are only graduated to 0.25mL, so I may only put in 1.75 ml, or it might be closer to 2mL.

I'm sure some rabbid DIY-ers may hang me in effigy for this philosophy, but I honestly don't know if I can tell a 0.5% difference in flavoring. I'm the one vaping it, so if it's a little short one time, I'll change it a bit the next time. Since I've started DIYing (a year ago now), I think I've only pitched about 30mL TOTAL of mixed juice. Cost - eh, maybe $1.50 at the most.

I've paid retail for worse that I've had to make go away.

If any quantity is shown as .xxx, I always round to the nearest .xx, because my syringes can measure .xx but not .xxx. :D

I generally try to round down rather than up, because I absolutely despise getting to the last couple ingredients and finding I don't have room in the bottle for them. :D Also I always round VG down, and PG up.

i think i was trying 25ml. some flavoring at 3.5% and 0.5% and using 100% PG 48mg nic base. looking for a 75/25 VG PG blend with 3mg nic at 25ml for final product.
yeah, it the odd 5 in 25 causing the problem. 3.5% of 20ml = .7 while 3.5% of 25ml = .875. work with total mls endingin zero and it will be much easier with no need to round up or down.

I round down if the calculator calls for 1.41 mL I do 1.4. If it calls for 1.45+ then I round up to 1.5. I have 1mL syringes and 3mL syringes and IMO that gives me great flexibility on mixing whatever I need. The 1 mL syringes have graduations to the 0.01 and the 3mL ones have graduations to the 0.1.

I used to draw from the bottle with a blunt tipped needle but got tired or rinsing, flushing, and/or switching syringes. What I do now is place my finger on the bottom of the 1mL syringe. Drop in the drops until I reach my target (wait for the drops to settle). Then put my finger on the top of the syringe causing a vacuum lock. Remove the bottom finger. Move the syringe over the bottle and release the top finger. The flavoring drops right out with no mess at all. I usually give the top a puff of air to make sure all the flavoring has exited. Worst case I am off a drop or two, but IMO it is super quick and easy.

If I am mixing one juice then I have no worries about rinsing my syringe out as it will all be mixed in the final bottle anyways. If I am switching juice flavors then I give my 1mL a quick rinse and off I go on to the next one.

Keep in mind that I make 15mL batches at a time. Sometimes if I find a recipe that I really like I'll mix a 30mL and the biggest pain with a 3mL (max) syringe is adding the PG and VG.

I would round up remember just because the recipe calls for that it might not be what you like. I tweak almost all that I started out with.
Taste is subjective ;)
