Seems our colonial cousins are hell bent on calling electronic cigarettes anything but electronic cigarettes (as can be seen elsewhere on this system).

I'm not sure what to make of it, frankly. I don't really see what the problem is - but, as I've alluded in another thread, I've had a few giggles coming up with politically correct acronyms and titles - Personal Electronic Nicotine Inhalation System, anyone?

Or...

Electronically-Titrated Inhalation Therapy System

Or...

Nicotine Inhalation (Positively Pressurised Liquid) Equipment

Not sure which I'd rather suck on...

Naughty boy! :) Seriously though our American friends seem to be having a lot more problems with the FDA than we have with the powers that be over here at present. I can understand their concerns and sympathise. If it doesn't look like a cigarette it is much less likely to be taken for one imho. I regularly call my Janty Stick a Nicotine Vaporiser - people are much more positively interested in it when put that way.

Agreed Pipeman, I tend to refer to mine as Personal Vaporizers, but I do like the Nicotine Vaporiser title.. thats a good one, and self explanatory..

Yes Im going to adopt that one.

I have to agree with the Americans on this one, as I too would like to see Approval granted in the UK, so we can see some proper testing done etc.,

Lets face it in a year or two's time we are all going to find some negatives showing up regarding our current nicotine habit and how we administer it, and I for one would love to know what nasties we can best avoid etc.,

My current concerns are flavourings and PG, VG long term effects...

Agreed Bjorn, but the longer the Government stays out of it, the longer it will be till we get the tests we need.

Although I dont have a lot of faith in this kind of testing as day after day we read reports that this is good for you or that is bad for you, and then the following week, its all change again...

Now alcohol in moderation is good for you.. and is coffee good or bad this week? I have lost track..

Well, I had the first meeting on the road to where you want to be yesterday, next one should be with the professors pitching for the study. The MHRA has already ruled that, as far as it's concerned, e-juice does not constitute a drug or NRT, as such, and therefore does not fall under its purview in terms of approval, clinical trials and the other things NRTs need to have in order to be sold for medicinal purposes.

However, your concerns are legitimate, and are the very things I want to have sorted out. My concern is the cost! Until I've met with the professors and their money men, I have no real idea of what the costs are likely to be (other than not insubstantial), but I'm writing the brief over the next couple of days. Obviously I'll keep people posted - but I'd like to do that over on the Sublime Vapours site forum, if possible.

Meantime, I'll keep sucking e-...., I think....

I go out of my way to call them e-cigs. I don't see why I should cower to the establishment and it's hunger for hypocrasy. Sod ASH, sod the FDA and sod all of the hypocrites that would sell out their own mother for a quick buck

there in lies is our salvation and ruin.

Our politicians would sell there own mother for a quick repreave of thier expences, hence I see them saying e-tabs are realy good...they should be main stream ...... 80% tax.

Well, I use a vapouriser. Although I'm quite happy to call it a vaporizer.

I use it for vapourising liquid that I then inhale... so I guess I could call it a vapour inhalator.

I use various ingredients in my liquids and there isn't any one that's in all my recipes. So it's not a vapouriser/inhalator for any particular ingredient.

I don't use it to burn tobacco so it's not a cigarette - electronic or otherwise.

I wouldn't describe it as an electronic cigarette any more than I'd describe a cigarette as an analog vapouriser. ;)
