Seen by whom? I am new to vaping and had no preconceptions whatsoever about the "vape life" before I started.

As I frequent more vape shops and watch YouTube reviews on various products, I do notice a "style" trending amongst some vapers (lots of baseball hats, lots of graphic tees, chunky necklaces tattoos, the odd beard - just an observation on outward appearances - not a judgment in ANY way).

I am also finding though that there seems to be another group of people who are in to vaping as an alternative to smoking, like me. I'm older (almost 50), female, fairly conservative in my clothing style and lifestyle choices. I mean, I don't see myself in a vaping competition blowing innumerable amounts of smoke rings around my middle finger anytime soon but have nothing against those who do.

All I was interested in was getting nicotine in a way that mimicked analogs enough that I could get off of them to a vastly safer alternative, and so far so good.

As for those who see vapers as obnoxious losers: that's their problem.

Most of the vape shops in my town, and there are many, have become 'hangouts' for the younger vaping crowd. I don't have any reason to go into any of them often. But when I do, they are pretty predictable. Black t shirts, flat brim hats, beards, lots of tattoos, ear pipes, etc. Nothing against it; I'm just not one of them. When I was many years younger, we all had our 'look' too.

im 27 and i do notice people glaring at other vapers who blow thick clouds out in crowded public places. i think it is a little obnoxious, and its a shame that there are these kind of vapers who are creating this negative stigma/sterotype for us. but i also believe that another reason for the looks is that of peoples' misconceptions and naivety towards vaping and thats why when im out i still try to be considerate when vaping in public. i know my setup and it does blow clouds so with that in mind i try go to a corner or somewhere where my vapor wont get in anyones face (just like i would when i used to smoke cigarrettes)...sorry for the rant, those are just my two cents on the matter. :)

Ohhhhh, is that what the OP ws referring to? See? UberNoob here. I can understand the "obnoxious" part a little better now. There's no vaping allowed in public places here in Ontario (except vape shops) so I didn't twig to that initially. Good insight Derek Ting!

The "clouds bro" stigma is not the impression we should be concerned with, it's the impression that vaping is still smoking that bothers me. If people really understand what vaping is they will have no problem with giant clouds. I have had people actually cough (forcing themselves) when they walk through my vapor, and I don't even blow big clouds. They perceive it as smoke and treat is as such, in the street and the ballot box.

I'm going to get out my bell bottoms, neck beads, head band, and let my hair grow to my shoulders. That'll show those young whippersnappers.

I've been around long enough to see several fads come and go (never understood disco). I don't even notice anymore. To each his own.

I never understood disco either, and I dislike rap. But to each their own.

I rarely see anyone else vaping except coworkers (we are allowed to vape on the shop floor). I vape openly but still take care to avoid annoying people no matter how touchy they are. People aren't rooting for us out of their own self interest whether they know it or not. There are big taxes we don't pay any more that benefited them. Not smoking will make us more competitive at work. That's not going to make us popular. We have more money to spend keeping up with the Jones'. That doesn't please the Jones'. As with just about everything else, follow the money.

What about those bikers? With their long straggly hair and beards and jeans that haven't been washed in years. Shooting people and dealing drugs.

There's nothing we can do about stereotypes. The people who have them are going to have them, it comes from them not us.

Yes. And they are a huge help to FDA. Negative public opinion - what can be sweeter...
