The gateway argument is fallacious nonsense as pointed out by Viscount Ridley in a debate in the English House of Lords. The full text is here:
Transcript of Viscount Ridley’s debate on e cigs in the House of Lords – how it should be done! | Save e-cigs

The salient point is this: Since the evidence so far suggests that e-cigs are 1000 times safer than tobacco ones, "There is said to be a risk of children taking up e-cigarettes and then turning to real cigarettes. Just think about that for a second. For every child who goes from cigarettes to electronic cigarettes, there would there have to be 1,000 going the other way, from e-cigarettes to cigarettes, for this to do any net harm."

I've submitted 2 comments on this CTA alone. I sincerely *hope* it will do some good, but I've been around long enough to know better than to trust the government, ESPECIALLY the FDA, who approved thalidomide back in the day, and has gotten progressively better at "protecting" us. Witness the inclusion of essentially carpet glue to cigarettes recently, in order to reduce the fire hazard by causing cigarettes to go out if left in an ashtray. Where are the studies proving the safety of smoking carpet glue?

That said, I have a small but viable collection of Robert's "battery cases" (REOs), in which I also carry a supply of food grade sweetener (VG). I have a stock, too, of cigarette "lighters" (RBAs), although I keep a small piece of silica (wick) in the coil to prevent rust. Someday, I plan on replacing the lighter coil with an led, so I can use it as a flashlight, since, after using these things, I strangely have no desire to smoke anymore ;)

The choke point will always be the nic liquid. Everything else has other uses.

Old boys like us with indestructible mods can always find workarounds, but people just quitting cannot and will return to smoking. That is the unconscionable thing.

I agree...I never thought it would be possible for me to really quit. Multiple failed attempts I had all but lost hope. It is still hard to believe I beat it. I would sure hate to be in the position where I might return to smoking again. Truth be told I was about at my wit's end when I found the REO. For me it is not just something I say here. I truly credit the REO for my success in beating the addiction.

thanks for posting that link T, I hadn't seen that yet. It's amazing what the numbers say versus what the anti people want to believe about vaping.

Totally understand that Jan. I am also. But we have to try right?

At least we will know we did our part.

Then prepare for the worst. Sad......it is very sad.
Same plight that's befallen employees of the Demoulas Market Basket grocery chain here in the Northeast....
All they want is their old boss back....but the "new" Board of Directors says "No Way!" :(
So.....25,000 loyal, dedicated employees face a bleak future.....and loyal customers are turning to other vendors for their wares....
LOSE-LOSE proposition!!!:(
BUT....the employees AND customers are standing their ground FIRMLY!!:D
Guess it's called the "dry rock of principle" for a reason.....!;)

I'd like to have a list of things that would be good to "hoard" in case the stuff hits the fan. Will we be able to get REO parts? Attys? Batteries?

Robert sells vaporizers. He should be fine. If push comes to shove he could classify them as some sort of battery box. I am sure he will still provide parts and do repairs for the REO.

Batteries should still be available. They have other uses besides mods.

I am wondering about atomizers, regular and re-buildable. It all depends on the wording of their description.

I doubt the Chinese are going to stop selling anything soon regardless of what the FDA decide. So all the hardware ought to be unaffected. It'll also be about 2 years before anything decided comes into effect anyway, because that's the speed of bureaucracy, and that assumes they go as fast as they can!
