Hi TB,

Your advice is great but it really puts me in a delimma now. From the way you put it, the JANTY extended classic kissbox really sound attractive. Now i'm back to square 1.

Choosing between the brands. Sigh, what a day.
Hey don't worry you've ordered now you wont be disappointed i assure the you ,the 901 is a great e-smoking starter kit ""RELAX"you picked well ;) you can move on to more expensive ecigs if you like the experience! but most stick with the 901 because its so good

Hi Xanthos

E-smoking does have start-up costs. The way I judged the overall price of e-smoking was to add the device outlay to the cost of a year's worth of carts and compare it to what smoking would have cost me in that time (former pack a day guy). Currently my brand is £5.50, so that's £2002 for the year

I think I'll have recouped my investment in about six months (although today's impulse madness has probably pushed it out to nine) and there are a lot of one time hits as I get more involved in the hobby.

I feel that this will eventually work out at about half the cost of hot smoking. We aren't sure of the health benefits yet (all hoping for the best) but there are some obvious ones like no longer inhaling CO & CO2 and you can't put a price on that.

Good luck and welcome to the forum

I started e-smoking on April 2nd.
If I knew then what I know now, and someone had given me the advise to buy the classic kiss, I would have.

After wasting money and being frustrated, I now have the classic kiss, and I'm very happy.

There's also a big difference between a penstyle and a mini.

Keep in mind that the penstyle produces more smoke, and the batteries lasts longer.

For the health issues, i choose to ignore the whole PG caution. I prefer to believe that not smoking all the chemicals is definitely better than PG.

I understand the whole startup cost thingy, but i'm just worried that this device may not work for me and i will go back to smoking again.

now i'm confused. Some members said the 901 produces more vapour than some penstyles.

The manufacturers and sellers of e-cigs are all very careful not to make any claims about it as a cessation device (well, the reputable ones, anyway).

However, I'm not a manufacturer (or reputable!) so I'm free to give my own observations.

I'm sure you won't be disappointed. Lots of members took this up so they could simulate smoking in bars or restaurants. That was certainly my prime motivation. I had no expectation that it would replace real cigarettes and no particular desire to go through the usual futile agony of trying to quit. 8 weeks in I'm free of cigarettes and I didn't even have to try.

You'll see variations of my experience all over the forum. It's a great thing. Go in and win.

You have to consider what matters to you. Vapour is important (crucial even) but the quantity of it is not the only factor - texture also matters (to me, anyway), also back-throat bite, tactile attributes and so on.

Too much info, Xanthos, just like anything. You have to start somewhere, and of course doing it's the only way to really judge.

I couldn't decide between models/brands when I started - ended up buying five.

I was at the starting line with my engine all revved up. My girlfriend called and i got discouraged. She was so determined that this will not work for me.

I'll be heading in soon. I just need to clear my head a little. Maybe after so long i should just give a little reason why im hesitating so much for just 70 over pounds.

As stated, i'm from Singapore, 75 pounds is SGD$200. It's considered a moderate amount here, enough to purchase a cheap LCD monitor or a PSP.

The main thing is, I'm currently in debts, and am working hard everyday to repay them. I'm earning a considerable salary, but most of them goes to repaying of debts and i'm left with very little for my own expenses monthly. To be exact, i have approximately SGD$1600. A pack of cigarette cost SGD$11 here, that's SGD$330 a month. In the case that this e-cig fails me, i'm deprived of $200 which is considered alot in my current financial situation.

And if this works, i'm actually saving almost $250 a month after subtracting the cost of atomizers and carts. And that helps in my debts. This is one of the top reason why i'm so keen on e-Smoking.
Sigh...

You're right, Sanneke.

I agree, the 901 should be fine. My own philosophy was to start cheap and see if I liked it. Well, I liked it. No longer smoke cigarettes. And then I began to appreciate that there are real quality differences among manufacturers and models. It takes time to learn from mistakes.

And poor DevilFish can't even be sure he can successfully use a e-cig! The less money invested, the better for him and others like him. Not everyone will be smitten with this. But if it works for you, (pssst, don't tell anyone), it's a great way to quit cigarettes.

back throat bite is the top priority. It;s a MUST. Because i crave for the bite more than the nicotine.

DevilFisH is from my country, and i know exactly where to categorize him in. Let's hope he doesn't see this. I shall not continue further.
