throat feeling tight....

Hey everyone. I just started vaping 4/2. I haven't had a cig since. I'm so excited about vaping, but I've had some problems. On Fri 4/3, I went to my in-laws house for a party. I was worried that if I started drinking that I would want an analog. Well, everything went really good. I didn't even crave an analog and everyone wanted to know about my pv. The next day I felt pretty crappy. I was hung over, but it was more than that. My throat and lungs felt worse than if I would have smoked a whole pack of analogs! The only way I can describe it is that my throat and lungs felt a sort of painful itchy scratchy type feeling. Then I had to use my inhaler 2x's because my throat felt like it was trying to close up. I am now only taking a few puffs on my pv when I have a really bad craving for a cig. Even using it very limited my throat starts feeling tight afterwords. I don't want to go back to smoking, but I also don't want to feel like my throat is gonna close up. I think it may be pg sensitivity, but I haven't heard of these specific symptoms. I'm gonna order from jc and get some vg and see if that helps. I'm just wondering if anyone has had these symptoms from vaping. Thanks for any help.

P.S. If anyone has any suggestions for the best johnson creek flavor then let me know. I may just get the sampler pack and cust it with some glycerine. I just don't wanna lose flavor. thanks

I think your best bet would be to try out the VG liquid, and see if there's a change.

When using PG, you're going to constantly have issues with your mouth and throat drying, and I experienced a significant tightness in my chest over the first week or so.

After that, my body adjusted to the change, and I haven't experienced an issue with it since.

Hi there. I had similar problems. When I went to non-PG they went away.

Thanks for the responses. I went ahead and ordered some vg e liquid to see if that helps. What's wierd is I have only had maybe 3 puffs of my pv this morning and my throat still feels tight, almost like I'm going to start having an asthma attack at any moment. I drink water all the time, rarely having soda or coffee, so I guess I could try to drink more though. I do not want to start smoking cigs again! I guess what i'll do is just drink more water and only take hits when i really feel a strang craving that i can't handle until i get my vg order. I hope using vg instead will help.

I pretty much keep either a bottle of water or some other drink on hand all the time. To me, staying hydrated is only part of the equation... I have to keep my throat 'wet' also.

Thanks Walrus! I just vaped earlier and drank plenty of water before, during and after. And I've been sipping on water instead of just drinking alot when i'm thirsty and it seems it's helping. Maybe it was so bad after I drank alcohol because of dehydration? That's when I want to vape the most. What should I do? Should I Drink water along with my alcoholic beverage to try to prevent dehydration?

Thanks Idahojo. It just sucks because when I smoked cigarettes I coughed alot. I'm going on 6 days without a cig and my coughing is way better, but the tight throat feeling sucks. I guess I'll see if the vg e liquid works for me first because It doesn't seem like many people even know about this, so I don't know how my doctor would be able to help with something he has probably never heard of. All I know is that I want to be able to vape and I don't want to smoke cigarettes! I'm afraid, if it turns out the vg doesn't help, then I will end up going back to cigarettes.

What's wierd is that I have read posts about people who had asthma and it got better when they started vaping and quit smoking. So, that's why I definitely want to try the vg first to see if I'm just pg sensitive.

Amanda,

I'm going through the same thing. Just keep in mind it may be the PG, but it could also be a particular brand or flavoring you're sensitive to. So try out the JC, but if you are still having problems, trying vaping just VG (diluted with some water) and/or PG without any ejuice. This way you can try to rule it out. If it's the flavoring, maybe a non-flavored juice might work. I plan on doing the same. I feel the same as you. I want to quit the analogs, and I know that I could do it with vaping if I could just work this out somehow.

Good luck

Amanda,

I also had a dry throat and got really raspy with just a few puffs when I got mine. I had the low nicotine pg that came with my npro. The next day I tried a 0 nicotine cart and did not have the dry raspy throat at all. I always smoked the light or ultra light analogs and I am thinking it was the nicotine in the ecig that was bothering me. I am also going to try the VG though.

From reading a lot of threads on this board, it would seem that A LOT of people get similar symptoms when they start vaping, but that they go away after a relatively short period of time. Presumably, the body is just adjusting to the new cocktail going into your body (ie the lack of everything that was in the analogues, plus the new stuff / proportions in the e-cig).

I realise that an allergy to PG is a possibility but it does seem that people are quick to say this as soon as anyone's body reacts in any way whasoever, when it just might be the 'adjustment period'.

I have only been vaping since last Tuesday, but after reading extensively before I started, I made sure I drank almost constantly (little sips). All was fine until Friday morning when I wope up with a sore, tight throat. I had been out drinking quite heavily on Thursday night and was almost certainly dehydrated.

Now, I'm starting to come out the other side: still sore in the morning and vaping 'catches' in my throat, but coffee, cold drinks, sucking on a sweet, and short drags on the e-cig fairly quickly seems to 'expand' my throat again and it is hardly sore at all now.

I am allergic to the PG. My throat hurt so much, I could hardly swallow for a week. I ordered VG from Johnson Creek and absolutely perfect. No sign of a sore or tight throat. I ordered several flavors. I like cocolate mint, I am okay with strawberry, vanilla is good but I want to try to add flu cured to it for more of a capaccino taste. I still have to experiment, but the liquid seems "clean" and it is what I am sticking to. I may get adventurous and make my own some day, but for now this is great. I am so glad I found a solution. My symptoms were too severe to just be caused by dryness.

Hi Angela, Are you using the Evo?

Reason I ask is that I started off with the Titan but found it hard to regulate nicotine intake perhaps because of vapour amount. So on Satuday I switched over to the Evo and as of Sunday evening I have had a dodgy throat. Its not exactly sore but not right either - I do notice that I get a greater throat hit with the Evo and I think I might have overdone it on Saturday/Sunday. As well as the dodgy throat I am finding that the smell/tase of the liquids is different.

I was beginning to wonder if I had built up an amount of PG on my throat/back of nose and was getting a reaction???

Another factor is the trying of new juice on Saturday - I tried a couple of samples from e-cigs uk and notices that the "French Pipe" smelt a bit like Meths - got a bit paranoid on Sunday evening about chemical burns in my throat!!!

I think there is a large amount of paranoia about PG/vaping I guess I just have a bit of a sore throat and the taste difference is down to this alone - I have had sore throats/colds before with analogs and they tasted different till I was on the mend.

Anyway heres hoping it geys better soon - I don't want to give up the ecigs.

Kula.

I would suggest you stick with VG for at least a week and then perhaps try the PG again. I noticed a sore throat and little wheezing sounds that came from my throat when I would lay down on my back to sleep. I switched because I thought it might be an allergy, when I read some things about VG being heated and turning into acrolene, a probable carcinogen. I was ready to quite nicotine altogether when I tried the PG solution I had from before, and it didn't give me the same problems.

Could have something to do with quitting real cigs, which can affect everyone differently and there's always the possibility that depending on the brand of cigs you were smoking the reaction to quitting could affect your body differently. Lots of possiblities.

I have some VG liquid on order (hopefully arriving tomorrow).

I just had another smell of the "French Pipe" liquid and it defo smells of Meths!! - a definate chemical smell. I also opened the "Like Smoke" and it smells normal for a tobacco liquid - quite sweet but nice.

I will try the VG for a week as you suggest and take it from there.

Thx for the advice.

Kula.
